Summary:

But once the terrible, terrible fog liften off of his head, once he was suddenly more energetic and ready for battle than ever, once he was doubting if he had taken some drugs and just forgot about it - he finally understood.

Work Text:

Corey had never believed in higher beings. Smoking crack and worshipping Satan was his motto of life - even if he didn't really have any faith in any biblical gods or their antipods, having something edgy to hold onto was kind of comforting. But once the terrible, terrible fog liften off of his head, once he was suddenly more energetic and ready for battle than ever, once he was doubting if he had taken some drugs and just forgot about it - he finally understood.

He was the higher being. He was the god.

He was God.

Words flowed out of his mouth like a neverending river of selfishness and nonsense that only made sense to him and made Slipknot members frown. Corey didn't give a shit - they didn't understand heavenly language. The fame Slipknot had fought with their teeth and fists for felt like something he had always deserved and something he was destined for; the maggots were his followers and he would fucking prove them they were right to follow him. He practiced until his voice started breaking, wrote lyrics until he couldn't hold a pen anymore... but it was all worth it.

It was all so he could be a better God and a better savior. He's not a fucking homeless boy addicted to coke anymore. No, he's a god. He's God. And he'll prove it to everyone.

Sleep became a liability, so he just stopped sleeping. The faceless figures that vaguely resembled people he wronged that started appearing in his vision were easy to ignore. They're just a reminder of his past sins, everything that he did before his grand realization. Corey will not let them get in the way of his mission.

Save the maggots. He was their God.

And when a very concerned Shawn and Jim will appear on his doorstep, Corey's gonna yell and tell them everything and make them look at him like he's fucking insane. He knows he's not, but they won't be convinced by his judgment. They'll force him to take his meds again and if he'll refuse they'll section him for a short while again and he'll be right back into the hole where he just left from and he'll both despise and love them for doing it.

But right now he's God. He's a savior. He's not a fucking homeless boy addicted to coke anymore. And he'll prove it to everyone.
