"Okay, so, there's this guy across the yard, his name is Eddie," Max started, pulling out some sheets from her drawer. "And he gave me these."
She fanned them out. On the pages were drawings, with a clear covering over them.
"Temp tattoos. Here, look, I put some on already." Max rolled up her sleeve to show the tattoos on her forearm. There was a snake going up her arm, a couple of skulls next to it, and a flower on her hand.
"Badass," El muttered, leaning forward to get a better look. "Are you allowed to have those?"
"Well, they're not permanent," Max responded. She rubbed at one of them, causing flecks of it to peel off. "They only last, like, two weeks, I think."
Max continued, "I don't know how well it'll work, but I was thinking, we could put one over the..." She motioned to El's left arm.
El looked down at the numbers on her wrist, then back to the tattoos. "Can I choose?"
"Obviously," Max handed the sheets over, watching as El flipped through them. "Choose whatever you want. And Eddie said he has more, so once they come off we can do different ones."
