Pens and Coffee

Summary:

After having trouble writing, Elliott decides a fresh cup of coffee will help.

Notes:

Coincidently, I had a hard time writing this one, just like Elliot.

Work Text:

Why can’t I make this any good? Elliot ran his hand through his luscious auburn hair as he stared at the notebook in front of him. He was writing one of the most pivotal scenes in his novel, but it was the sixth time he had rewritten it, but it still wasn’t good enough. He looked up at the clock on the wall of his inn room. Had he really been sitting here for three hours.

A nice walk would do me so good. He stood up from his desk, and after double checking that he looked presentable, he walked out of his room.

Ahhh, this is nice. An ocean breeze blew past him, and the sky was bright and clear. He should have come outside earlier. His stomach growled. Right, he had forgotten to eat today.

I’ve heard good things about the coffee shop by the dock. Isn’t it run by someone staying at the inn as well?

The coffee shop was called Raja’s Coffee Corner, and it wasn’t too crowded at this time of day, so he didn’t have to wait in a line.

“Oh hello, I would like just a simple cup of coffee with sommm-” Elliot was caught off guard by how beautiful the barista was. They had beautiful black hair, and shining eyes that were the color of freshly brewed coffee. Would they’re lips taste like coffee too?

“Um, excuse me sir?” The barista asked, snapping Elliot out of his day dream.

“Sorry, I was distracted by your beauty,”

The barista blinked, and then gave Elliot a shy smile. “You’re very bold,”

“I don’t consider myself bold, only truthful,”

“I like that in people. I’m Raj, very nice to meet you Elliot,”

“You already know my name?”

“Well, we do live in the same building. And someone as striking as yourself is impossible to ignore,”

Now it was Elliot’s turn to blush. “I’m sorry it took so long to meet you. I’ve spent so much time stuck in my room writing,”

“I don’t blame you for being fixated on something you’re passionate about. I do the same thing here with my cafe. Speaking of which, are you going to order something?”

“Oh yes. A cup of coffee with some milk and sugar, and a chocolate chip muffin please,”

“Coming right up,”
