Tim
Tim stares at the computer screen, his eyes hurt and his head is starting to pound but he’s not giving up. He’s not walking away from this computer until he finds the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for Lucy.
And yes maybe Valentine’s Day is two months away. Maybe he’s thinking too ahead but he’s determined. This is their first Valentine’s Day back together, they aren’t hooking up in a hotel room and then having a awkward morning after. They will wake up in the same house, the same bed and it’s different this time.
He’s determined to make it good. He’s determined to get her something special. Because she deserves it.
And he loves her.
“Hey.” A voice says behind him and he quickly shuts the laptop. He feels Lucy wrap her arms around his neck and he looks up at her.
“Hey.”
“What are you doing?” She asks. Tim stands up and then turns to face her.
“Just cursing the internet.” He says and then grimaces when he hears it. “You know.”
“Right.” Lucy says and she leans in to give him a kiss. “Sounds fun. But how about we go to that restaurant that allows dogs? I want to get out.”
“Sure.” He says and he presses a kiss to her cheek. She gives him a look and then walks off calling a Kojo’s name. He looks over at the laptop, and sighs softly.
A gift would have to wait then.

Tim is at it the next day, he scrolls through the internet for anything that Lucy would like and he has to admit it’s a lot.
She moved in with him and with her came all her stuff. Her artwork, her pillows and blankets. Even the rice cooker made its way into the kitchen. But he didn’t mind—he loves having a little piece of her and him around the house. He loves making this house—theirs.
He even went through her drawers but came up with nothing. She had everything she needed and she would tell him that too.
He sighs softly, and scrolls through the most recent search. “Skincare.” She was always doing something to her face in the morning and at night. He told her she didn’t need it but—
He clicks on ad for South Korean Skin Care.
Oh.
He knows she uses that—she used it on him a few weeks ago when they finally found the machete and decided to top the night off with tequila and beer and South Korean skin care apparently.
“Oh.” He mutters to himself as scrolls the website. This was perfect. This place had everything. She used the oil, the serum, the night cream, the toner.
Everything.
“Ships from Korea in 3 weeks.” He reads. “Guaranteed delivery.” Tim clicks on the biggest bundle they have.
$400 + shipping and handling.
$450.
It’s worth it. Lucy is worth it and that skin care felt really good.
He starts clicking on all the items and adds them to the cart. He doesn’t even look at the price just presses order and inserts his credit card number.
Perfect.
This was perfect.

“Hey.” Lucy says looking at him in the mirror. “Have you been using my sleep serum?”
“No.” Tim says. “Why would I do that?” Lucy narrows her eyes at him, and steps closer and feels his face.
“Liar!” She says slapping his chest. “You have.”
“It makes my skin glow okay? I am the boss. I have to look good—” Tim says but Lucy rolls her eyes.
“Oh my god.” Lucy says. “What else have you been using?” She looks through her products and then turns back to him but she has an amused look on her face.
“Sorry.” Tim says. “It’s only once in awhile. I didn’t think you would notice.”
“Well now I have to reorder—”
“No!” Tim says quickly. Lucy gives him a weird look. “You know just use them till they are all gone ya know?”
“Okay weirdo.” Lucy says. “I’m not going to waste stuff.” Tim nods and leans in to give her a kiss.
He couldn’t wait to give her the Valentine’s Day gift.
It was perfect.

Lucy
Lucy digs through Tim’s stuff. It’s not like he has a lot, he’s a simple guy which is one of the many reasons she loves him.
He has the same shirt but in different colors. He has a few sports memorabilia and a few watches that he switches out. He has a money clip, and a few other things. She has gotten him little things in the past but this was their first Valentine’s Day back together.
They weren’t hooking up and she wasn’t walking back to her hotel room full of shame for shutting him out.
It needs to be good.
It needs to be great.
There was no doubt that his Valentine’s Day gift to her would be amazing because he always knew what to get her.
No matter what.
She sighs and gets on her knees to look under the bed. She sees the slippers he never wears because she tossed them under the bed the minute she moved in.
Maybe new slippers.
No.
“What are you doing?” A voice asks from behind. She freezes and turns her to see Tim behind her. He’s shirtless with just his sweatpants on which means he’s getting ready to go to bed.
“Looking under the bed.” She says. “You don’t do this?”
“Never felt the need to.” He says and then she’s being pulled up and into his chest. “Anything interesting under there?”
“Just your ugly slippers.” She says grinning at him. “And maybe we need a stronger bed. I heard it creaking.”
“Whose fault is that?” Tim asks. Lucy shrugs and gives him a soft kiss and then walks past him to go to the bathroom.
She looks in the mirror and picks up her night time serum that was almost gone.
She would find the perfect gift for Tim. She would.

Lucy turns to eBay next and looks up sports memorabilia. She looks up Tim’s favorite players, at least the ones he has baseball cards of and then she sees it.
A signed baseball from: Fernando Valenzuela.
Lucy knows that’s one of his favorite players, and to have something from such a honored player. To have something from him that would make Tim happy.
And she wants him to be happy. She wants him to have something that would mean a lot to him and she has a feeling this baseball would be just that.
Her phone buzzes and she picks it when she’s sees it’s Genny. It’s not weird for her to call, they talk pretty often but—
“Hey.” Lucy says as she adds the ball to the cart. “What’s going on?” She presses pay and enters her credit card number without a second thought.
“I hate to do this to you.” Genny says. “But I’m stuck at work and I need someone to pick up the boys and take them home. Tim isn’t answering his phone.”
“He’s at work.” Lucy says. “I would be happy to do it.” Genny sighs a breath of relief and Lucy smiles to herself.
“Thank you Lucy.” Genny says. “You are a lifesaver. I might have to steal you from Tim.”
“Good luck with that.” Lucy says shaking her head. “Speaking of your brother, guess what I just got him for Valentine’s Day?”
“Valentine’s Day is like 2 months away.” Genny says.
“I wanted to start early. Besides I think Tim already got mine so—” Lucy says. “Anyway,
I had no idea what to get him.”
“He is hard to shop for.” Genny muses. “He’s simple. And also complex.”
“Right.” Lucy says. “So I went on eBay and searched sports memorabilia and found a signed baseball from Fernando Valenzuela.”
“Oh that’s perfect.” Genny says and she sounds excited. “Good job Lucy. I’m sure you he will love it.” Lucy smiles to herself and she really hopes he does.

Lucy gets the baseball in the mail a few days later and has to hide it right away because Tim is hovering over her.
“What is your deal?” She asks. She slips the package behind her back. Tim just shrugs his shoulders. “I’ll be right back.”
She goes to the garage and puts it behind some miscellaneous stuff Tim has. She would hide it better later but her boyfriend was being clingy.
She finds Tim waiting by the door, looking at it like he could just make it open. “What are you doing?” She asks and he turns around to face her. A smile lights up his face and he pulls her in for a hug.
“Nothing.” He says pressing a kiss to the top of her head. “Just waiting for you.” Lucy grins and grabs his hand leading him to the couch.
“You know Valentine’s day is coming up.” Lucy says. Tim gives her a long look.
“I know.” He says. “In like two months.” Lucy hums softly and rests her head against his chest.
“I love you.” She says because she feels like she doesn’t say it enough. It doesn’t matter what gift they get each other. They would always have each other. No matter what.
Gifts or not.
They have each other and that’s all that matters.
