Work Text:

A loud thump echoing through the apartment pulled Lando from his sleep. Rolling over, he glanced at the clock on Oscar's dresser. The sight of it reading 2:45am made Lando groan with tired frustration. Oscar had warned him he was staying late at the lab tonight, and Lando had been content to still stay over at Oscar's flat. If he'd known the Australian would wake him up coming home in the middle of the night, Lando would have gone home to sleep. He was used to Oscar's chaotic schedule at the lab, used to receiving late night texts that Oscar had only just got home. Lando didn't agree with how hard Otto and Mark had Oscar working, but his protests always fell on deaf ears. With a sigh, Lando dragged himself out of bed to see why his boyfriend was making so much noise at an ungodly hour.

"Osc?" Lando called, padding down the hallway towards the kitchen. Another thud. He heard a murmured "fuck"; Oscar's Australian accent always stronger when he swore.

"Go back to sleep, Lan! I'm fine!" Oscar called back in a rush, a hint of panic in his tone. Lando frowned at his words, frustration fading into worry. Oscar only sounded this flustered after bad lab days, something must have gone wrong. The kitchen was dark when he reached the door; Lando's frown deepened. He could just see Oscar's silhouette in the darkness

"Can't sleep when you're in here making a racket." Lando kept his tone teasing, flicking the light on. His face dropped as the room was illuminated and he finally saw the scene in front of him.

Oscar decked out in a Spiderman suit, one hand braced against the counter. The other hand pressed firmly against his abdomen, sticky with blood. His blood. His face was pale, brown eyes wide with panic. A bruise was blooming on his cheekbone, stark blues and purples against his milky skin. The Australian's mouth was slightly agape, seemingly unable to form words. A stripe of blood was drying on the corner of mouth from a split in his lip. Out of the corner of his eye, Lando could see the familiar mask strewn on the floor, blood splattered on the tiles. He just stared at Oscar, too many thoughts running through his mind to speak.

Oscar was Spiderman?

"Surprise?" Oscar said, weakly, breaking the silence that had settled on the room. Knees buckling, he sank into a seated position on the floor, wincing as he pressed his hand tighter against the wound. The sight kicked Lando's brain into action. Crossing the small kitchen, Lando dropped to his knees beside his boyfriend. He tentatively reached his hand towards Oscar's, asking for permission to see the wound. Oscar took a deep breath, mentally preparing, before moving his hand away. The wound was deep, still oozing an alarming amount of blood. Lando's stomach churned at the sight.

"Shit, Oscar. What happened?" Lando asked, carefully avoiding the topic of his boyfriend being a web-slinging vigilante.

"Trying to stop this weapons deal. Didn't sense the guys knife until it was too late." Oscar replied, gritting his teeth against the pain as Lando pressed a cloth to his stomach. The information out Lando's mind into overdrive, his brain trying to picture gentle, sweet Oscar fighting criminals. Oscar must have noticed him spiralling, of course he would, as he placed his hand on Lando's cheeks, bringing him back to the present. Taking a deep breath to ground himself, Lando focused back onto the task at hand.

"It's bleeding too much, you need a hospital." Lando began to stand to find his phone, but Oscar grabbed his wrist before he could go anywhere.

"No. No hospitals. There's a first aid kit under the sink." Oscar's brown doe eyes were pleading. Lando reluctantly relented and made his way to the sink instead.

"I don't think a first aid kit is going to do much for that." Lando said, taking the kit from under the sink and sitting back on the floor beside Oscar. A dry chuckle escaped Oscar's lips.

"One of the perks of being Spiderman is fast healing." Oscar quipped, before turning serious again. "I just need to close the wound."

He flipped the first aid kit open, searching around until he found what he was looking for. Hands shaking, he tried to thread the needle to stitch his wound. After multiple failed attempts with Lando watching on, Oscar held out the needle and sutures to the Brit.

"I need you to do it." His hands still shook as he pressed the equipment into Lando's palms. Lando shook his hand in horror, backing away slightly.

"No! No way! I can't do this." His voice trembled with anxiety. He'd never sewn a button back onto a shirt before, let alone stitched human skin back together.

"I'll guide you through it. Please, Lando."

Reluctantly, Lando accepted the needle and sutures. Listening intently to Oscar's instructions, he threaded the needle and positioned himself to start stitching. His hands shook as he started the first stitch, wanting to stop immediately at the sound of Oscar's sharp intake of breath at the needle piercing his skin. Oscar soothed him gently, rubbing a hand down his spine before encouraging him to continue. The Australian continued to give him instructions through gritted teeth, fighting through the pain to keep Lando calm. After what felt like the longest minutes of Lando's life, the wound was closed and no longer bleeding. He stuck a plaster over the wound just to keep it clean before looking back up at Oscar. His face remained pale, sweat-damp strands of hair stuck to his forehead. But he was no longer breathing as heavily as he was, head tilted back to rest on the side of the counter. Tugging his arm gently, Lando positioned Oscar so he could rest his head on Lando's shoulder. They sat in silence for an unknown amount of time, both processing the events of the evening. Lando, that his boyfriend was not who he thought he was. Oscar, that he had accidentally revealed his secret identity to his boyfriend. Neither man seemed to know how to start the conversation they clearly needed to have, both trying to form coherent thoughts after the chaos.

Lando was the first to break the silence this time.

"So, you're Spiderman?" He asked, although it was really stating the obvious. He felt Oscar take a deep breath then nod against his shoulder.

"This whole time? Since he appeared four years ago?"

Oscar sat up and verbally replied to Lando this time. "Yeah, the whole time."

"And in the year we've been together, or the entire four years that we've known each other, you didn't think that you should tell me this?" Lando asked, his tone now becoming accusatory. He just didn't get how Oscar could keep this from him. Lie so easily to him. Oscar, in his defence, flushed bright pink at Lando's words.

"I was trying to protect you. It's so dangerous and I didn't want to put you at risk." Oscar's voice was small, as if preparing himself for Lando to be angry with him. Lando sighed, scrubbing a hand over his face. He wanted to just be angry with Oscar for hiding this from him, but he couldn't bring himself to be. If Lando was perfectly honest, he wasn't sure if he would have told Oscar if the situation was reversed. He was also far too tired to deal with his big complicated emotions right now.

"I get it, Osc. Let's talk more tomorrow, we need sleep." Lando's use of that familiar nickname drew some of the tension out of the other man's shoulders. With a gentle smile, Lando stood before helping Oscar stand as well. Wrapping an arm around Oscar's tiny waist, he guided them back into the bedroom. The suit was a nightmare to get off, stuck to Oscar's skin with blood and sweat. Lando tried not to react too much at the bruises blooming across Oscar's side and back as he helped him change for bed. A gentle, slow process later and the pair were nestled in each other's arms in Oscar's bed, Lando's arm draped protectively over Oscar.

There would be more difficult conversations to have in the morning, but for right now, Lando could smile slightly at the idea of having an actual, real life superhero as a boyfriend.
