    Summary

Phil Lester goes back to university for his third year, expecting to live in the dorms with his childhood best friend PJ. That's how it's been for the past years, after all. However, due to a mistake of some sort, he finds himself with a new roommate to spend the semester with.
Daniel Howell, three years his junior, has rich brown eyes, a laptop to hide them behind, and not more than two words to spare in Phil's direction. Phil is no fortune teller, but he foresees the upcoming months will be filled with a whole lot of awkward silence.

Unless, of course, Dan proves him wrong...
Could one little mistake lead to something entirely life-changing? Perhaps it could. After all, nearly everything changes when Phil meets Dan.

    Summary

“So this is the way the world ends,” Dan mumbled into Phil’s chest. “Fucking scorching.”
“I guess that’s my fault,” Phil smirked.
“Oh shut up,” Dan lifted his head from Phil’s chest and gave him that same silly I-can’t-be-mad-at-you grin they both missed more than they ever realized, pushing on his chest.
They needed this. Needed the laughter and the smiles and what was left of the good that had been left behind.

    Summary

For now, Phil forces himself up. Sometimes, if he lays in bed enough, Dan will check on him. And he’ll do his soft voice and bring Phil a coffee, and he’ll yap about something and get all worked up and Phil will just sit and smile at him.

It’s a tempting enough thought that Phil almost wants to go back to bed and wait for it. Sometimes, he does. But today, the idea of someone doting on him for a nothing issue– just another Phil migraine– feels… annoying. Phil feels annoying, for that. And maybe someday Dan will realize that this is all really annoying, that Phil wasn’t like this when they first met. That Phil used to be energetic and chase him around his mum’s house and fuck him hard enough to make the bedsprings squeak. Now, Phil’s got a bit of a headache. And he’s thirty four.

(a snapshot into 2021, and the act of taking care of each other).
