Work Text:
Kon had been planning out a valentines day to have with Tim for over a year. It was going to be a perfect first, first time asking Tim out, first time they were both single on valentines, and hopefully, the first of much more.
“The reservation is booked, brownies and whip cream in the fridge, and… flowers. It’s all ready” Kon double checked everything, nervous but excited. He wore the best clothes he could find in his closet, and his least spikey leather jacket in case he gets to cuddle with Tim. He paused as he passed the mirror, debating over whether or not to gel his hair back. In the end, he decided to, so he ran to the bathroom, accidentally cutting off a sleepy Gar.
In the middle of gelling his hair back his alarm went off, and he realized he hadn't even asked Tim out yet- He roughly tried to finish his hair and ran out the bathroom.
“Man, finally! Dude you take way too long” Garfield complained, “Living at the tower means sharing!” Then the green boy went in.
“Sorry dude!” Kon said, and practically flew (ha, if only he could), down the stairs, and past the communal kitchen, where Jon was getting breakfast, pouring some cereal into a bowl.
“Woah, you look different!” Jon noted, “Super fancy”
“Well yeah Jonny, it’s valentines day, and I’m going on a date”
“Ooh, with who? Wait- they’re not like, 10 years older then you again, right..?”
“That only happened once, technically twice- doesn’t matter. I’m going out with Tim” Kon was smug and way too self assured for a guy who had not confirmed the actual date part yet.
“Nice, Dames and I are going to see that new horror movie.” Jon says, and opens the fridge to grab milk for his cereal. He spotted the whip cream. “Ohh, what's this for?”
“For valentines, to eat with-” His second alarm went off, he’d been so distracted “Shoot, I really got a go! See you kid, have fun at the movies!”
“Have a fun date” Jon said to Kon's retreating form.
Kon hopped into his supercycle, and flew it to Wayne manor as fast as he could. He parked his bike down, and nearly tripped - super smooth. He ran up to the door to knock, and realized his hair got so aggressively windblown he lost the gel holding it down. He tried to fix it, and it just looked like his regular messy hair anyways, why did he even waste time this morning with it-
Tim opened the door.
“Kon?” He said in lieu of a greeting.
“Heyy, surprise Tim, I have to ask you something.” Kon tried to play it smooth.
“Okay..?” Tim waited.
“Wait, first I have something for you-” Kon patted himself down like an idiot, then looked up at Tim, “Uhh, wait it's in the supercycle.” So he went back to his bike, and looked everywhere like he’d find what he was looking for in some hidden compartment he doesn’t know about.
"Maybe. I hope." Kon muttered under his breath.
“Uhm, what exactly is it you’re looking for”
“Uh, haha yeah thats such a good question.” Kon replied, but he was so totally screwed because he left the flowers at home. Tim just awkwardly stared at him, waiting. Kon found a rock on the floor board. “This?” He tries to save, going over and placing it in Tims palm.
Tim looked at it, and nodded slowly, “Cool, Kon… super cool?”
“Hahaha, anyways,” Kon grabbed the rock back and threw it behind him, then leaned in to try and put his hand on the wall behind Tim like the movies. He nearly missed. “I want to take you out”
“Like for valentines?”
“Exactly!” Kon celebrated internally.
“That could be fun, I had nothing else to do today, for once. Yeah, a friends valentine would be super fun” Tim said, and Kon's hopes were momentarily crushed, but he took the small win.
They took the supercycle to the restaurant Kon booked, and as he was trying to show off by having a reservation at a top valentines spot that's always booked out, they told him he hadn’t booked today.
“What? No, wait, but I did book it-” Kon said, stressing mildly.
“Ah, yes, you did book it for Feburary the fourteenth.” The server said as they scrolled on their tablet.
“See?” Kon tried to play it cool again.
“Next year” The server added.
“Next year- What?!” Kon said.
So they had to leave the restaurant, and Tim tried to comfort him by saying the food there isn’t even the best anyways- because of course Tim's already been.
“Really?” Kon hoped for… anything to go his way at this point.
“Yeah, Bruce took me for my birthday like, two years ago.” Tim said. It didn’t help, Kon decided.
They found a mom and pop shop to eat at instead. To make it even more of a disaster, Kon left his wallet. Probably beside the flowers. Tim payed, insisting it wasn’t a big deal.
“It's what friends do,” Tim smiled. Kon wanted to throw himself into the sun.
If there was one thing that would go well tonight, it had to be the brownies he made. So, he drove Tim back to the tower, and got out the brownies, throwing them in the microwave to warm up. He opened the fridge to grab the whip cream, but it was missing.
“Who… TOOK THE WHIP CREAM” He shouted, because when you live in a tower with a ton of teens, one of them has to be the culprit.
“Dude, what's with the yelling?” Gar came into the room, back from his date with Raven.
“Did you take the whip cream?” Kon nearly crashed out.
“No dude”
“Then who took it?”
“Well Jon did” Gar said like it was obvious.
Kon took a deep breath, silently hating Jon at the moment.
“Well, how about ice cream instead?” Tim tried, noticing how Kon was feeling.
“Yeah, thats not a bad idea” Kon relaxed too soon, as he opened the freezer and found the ice cream missing too.
Gar winced, “Yeah, Jon took that too… He and Damian are having sundays, I think… bummer dude” then the green boy escaped from the room, before Kon really did crash out.
“I’m going to kill him” Kon decided as he ate his warm brownie with no whip cream or ice cream on the couch beside Tim while they scrolled for a movie.
“Well, on the plus side, this has been a pretty great day together” Tim said.
“You really think so? You liked the date?” Kon was hopeful.
“Yeah, this was the best friends valentine I ever could have asked for” Tim smiled. At this point, just killing Kon would have been kinder.

Kon glowered at Jon the next day.
“Have a nice valentines day?” He grit out. Totally not bitter.
“Oh, it was like magic! Damian bought me a new telescope, and we spent the night on the roof looking at the stars together, and we even slept up there in a blanket fort!” Jon said, still floating on the joy of the night before.
The sound of glass shattering was loud when Kon threw Jon out the window.
