Gaia is on the brink of complete collapse. Cloud and others are sent to Nibelheim in an attempt to stop an incident at the reactor. But things don't go right and soon he's left completely alone, no squad, no villagers, no means of communication with anybody.
As he's ready to give up, he stumbles across a strange being that has fallen from the cosmos and landed practically in his lap.
