Chapter Text

Scott enjoys spending time with Avid, specifically the new Avid.

The old Avid was loud, paranoid, way too aware of Scott and his secrets. The only thing Scott liked about him was the fear Avid had; it’s what drew Scott to him in the first place. It reminded him of his years in power, when he ruled over Oakhurst.

The new Avid was a lot nicer, though. He liked Scott; he let Scott drain him, and he didn’t argue. He was an obedient little pet that Scott could entertain himself with every now and then.

The only problem was the town. Ever since Avid left, they had gotten paranoid; they’d started looking for him, suspecting that the vampires had something to do with it. (Which Scott did, but nobody had to know that).

So, unfortunately, Scott was probably going to have to let Avid move back into the town. He would have a cover story, obviously. Something about hiding in the woods, getting stuck in a cave, doing regular Avid things. Then, when he moved back into town, the townspeople would be less alert, more relaxed (hopefully).

Scott would have to check up on Avid often—not that he would mind. The hypnosis wasn’t a permanent thing, but it definitely stayed longer if the subject had consistent contact with the vampire that had hypnotized them. Not to mention Scott needed his constant source of food.

He walks into the room Avid is staying in, closing off the doorway behind him so no one will see them. Avid is sitting on the bed, staring blankly at the wall, but his eyes immediately turn to Scott when he walks in.

“Did you miss me?”

“Yes,” Avid responds without hesitation. His eyes take in all of Scott. He’s only been stuck in here for five days, but isolation can do a lot to humans. “Um, do you have...food?”

Scott gives a soft smile, not really genuine, mostly just amused. He pulls out a baked potato from his bag and hands it to Avid, taking a seat next to him. “Of course, my dear!” His hand rests on the back of Avid’s neck, slowly brushing his hair.

Avid starts eating, and Scott takes in everything. The hesitation in Avid’s eyes, the way he licks his lips. He opens his mouth while bringing up food to bite, and Scott can’t stop himself from pecking a kiss on Avid’s cheek.

Avid freezes. The fork stays halfway into his mouth, and his mouth stays open. Blood rushes to Avid’s face, and the red creates a glow that Scott can’t stop looking at. Eventually, Avid’s brain starts functioning again because he finally takes a bite of the potato.

He eats slowly, which only gives Scott more time to appreciate how adorable he looks. Every now and then, Scott gives him a kiss or trails his fingers down the nape of his neck just to see him freeze. Just to see the beautiful red and sometimes hear the squeaks that come out of him.

When Avid is done eating, Scott braces himself. He doesn’t want Avid to go, but he knows things will only get worse if he stays. Hopefully, Avid won’t want to leave either. His reluctance to leave Scott would be useful in keeping an eye on him in town.

“Avid, there’s something I need to tell you.” Avid looks at him with wide eyes. “You’re going to have to move back into town.”

There’s a look of disgust on Avid’s face that makes Scott feel satisfaction.

“I know. I don’t want you to go either, but—the townspeople are beginning to accuse the vampires of kidnapping you and if you don’t get back to town, they might start getting violent.” Or violent-er, considering the fact that they’d tried to storm the castle once or twice.

"But—” Avid’s brows are furrowed, he scratches his neck. “—I thought you said the town didn’t want me back.”

Scott’s eye twitches just a little. Of course, Avid would remember details. “They don’t.” Scott says firmly, he’s not going to let one slip-up ruin his time with Avid. “They just want an excuse to fight us. That’s why you can’t tell them you were staying with me. If they find out, they’ll think I took you instead of you coming willingly.”

Avid bites his cheek. Scott can already feel a headache coming on. “I can just tell them that! I’m sure they would understand, especially considering the circumstances of my ‘disappearance.’ We can just tell them the truth, and I can stay with you!”

Scott would much like Avid to stop being old Avid and start being new Avid again. Why is he being so difficult? “I don’t think they would see it like that. Besides, I’ll still visit you in town.”

“I—” Avid makes another face, and Scott cuts him off before he even starts.

Enough, Avid.” He takes a deep breath and stares piercingly into Avid’s eyes. “You will go back to town. You will tell them you got stuck in a cave and not mention me at all. You will not talk closely with anyone apart from me. And you will bring any information you find out about the town to me. Do you understand?”

Avid’s eyes are glassy; he nods dumbly, just staring at Scott. The vampire scoffs, pathetic.

“Well, I think I deserve some recompense for your difficulty, Avid. What do you think?”

Avid looks down, and Scott smiles, knowing Avid will give him whatever he wants. “You’re right. I—I’m sorry. You can—um, you can—uh—drink my blood?” He looks back at Scott. “Or do whatever you want! I—I’d deserve it.”

“I think your blood will be enough payment for now,” Scott mutters, already moving to close the distance between them. “Hold still.”

Scott digs his fangs into Avid’s neck and starts to drink. The hunter’s blood has always been sweeter than usual. It was one of the best Scott had ever tasted. He could never stop himself from taking a lot, even though it left Avid dizzy afterwards.

He savors the viscous liquid, holding Avid tight so he doesn’t move. It reminds him of most live prey he drinks from. Rabbits, cows, sheep, deer. Avid is like a deer; skittish, helpless, an easy prey.

He feels Avid go limp against him and Scott stops. He’s a little annoyed at the interruption but it's fine. He wouldn’t want to drink too much anyway. Leaving Avid without enough blood to live would be horrible. He was Scott’s favorite.

Scott lies Avid down on the bed, sitting next to him. The hunter opens his eyes blearily and Scott has an overwhelming urge to kiss him senseless (although it's not like he has much sense right now).

Scott leans down, pressing his lips against Avid’s. He slips his tongue into Avid’s mouth, exploring as much as he can. He moves to lie on top of Avid, his hands pinning Avid’s arms down.

Avid doesn’t seem to react to what’s going on. He follows along with the kiss, but other than that, he’s very out of it. Scott should let him sleep. He needs to rest if he’s going to replenish all the blood Scott just drank but—

He wants to consume Avid. Not in a literal way. He’s just too perfect for Scott to leave alone. He wants to know everything about the hunter; he wants to know what makes him happy, sad, mad, scared. He wants to take advantage of him and have complete power over him without even using the hypnosis.

He wants Avid to bow at his feet and worship him like a God.

Scott sighs. That’ll come later; for now, he should let his hunter sleep. He has a big day ahead of him after all.

Notes:

yeahhh, this story got out of hand

anyways the next chapter will be Avid going back to town, and hopefully it doesn't take me too long to write it. Also i just love using Olivia Rodrigo songs for the titles, and suprisingly a lot of them fit

hope you enjoyed!
