‘It hurts… it hurts, IT HURTS, IT HURTS.’ His head felt like it was full of dough, bones cracking and reshaping themselves as black spots entered his vision.
Avid fell to the ground with a puff. His flesh ripped. He banged his head against the hard ground repeatedly cracking sounds masked by the blood dripping from his ears.
He let out another gut wrenching cry, the sound echoing through the trees, before his consciousness cut.

“Osamu Dazai, or Dazai-san, was strange. There was a lingering darkness in his eyes, something just out of reach. Like he, too, was empty, ravenous for something to sustain him; hungry, but in a different way then Atsushi, then the void in his stomach that begged for food and rest. His eyes were brown, with just a tint of crimson; like bloodstains he couldn’t fully get out, but tried to, anyways. The sunset falling over them illuminated his eyes into something warm, but in the dark, Atsushi was sure it would look more like calculation. The mans cheerful, casual talk of suicide did nothing to dull the want that creeped into him like freshly spilt blood, as he spoke of death with unmistakable longing.
There was something underneath his cheerfulness that screamed danger.”

Things were getting bad.
Avid jogged through the woods, sweat on his brow and blood under his nails. He couldn’t keep going like this. It was getting worse.
The wound on his neck pulsed under his bandages. Sharp bolts of pain jolted up his neck and down his chest and it was so, so insistent. He wouldn’t be able to contain whatever this was for much longer.
On the way here, he had already slain three cows. Cows. How he had done so, he could not remember; but he would never forget coming to his senses with the filthy corpses in front of him, their throats shredded to pieces and bits of flesh scattered around the thicket.
He had vomited, then.
There was a beast inside him, and it was growing stronger.
OR: Avid has less time than he calculated to fix his problem. But, once he's turned, he realizes he may be more out of his depth than he expected.
