Just This

Summary:

Spock is back in Jim’s arms where he belongs.

Work Text:

Spock’s body was slack in Jim’s arms. A little too heavy for his state a mind, but a presence that he hadn’t felt against his side in far too long.

“I’ve got you, Spock.” Jim murmured as Genesis continued to split and crack around them. His hold tight on his husband and his phaser drawn.

But for just a moment, a single moment that he allowed himself. He turned his head in, and breathed in the scent of Spock.

Desert sands and scorched earth and hot suns. Something that shouldn’t have a tangible scent but something that Jim quickly realized was so microscopically Spock that it made him want to melt into him. To combine their bodies into one so that Spock could never leave him again. However illogical thought that was to wish.

“I got you.” He repeated. And he was never going to let him go. Not for a very, very long time.

Spock would deem it illogical, would tell him that he cannot hold onto him for the rest of their lives. And Jim would try. Oh, how he would try.

Spock moved into him, closing whatever distance remained between them until they all but melded together. And for a blissful moment, Jim was unaware where he ended and where Spock began.

“…Jim.” Was Spock’s only response. And just the simple sound of hearing his own name fall from his beloved’s lips was enough to heal the hurt, the pain, that came from losing him.

“I’m here, Spock.” Jim replied, not caring that the planet was still crumbling around them or of the imenent threat that existed before them.

Just this. Just the weight of Spock against him, the smell of Vulcan still somehow on his skin.

It was enough. This was enough. He had Spock back.
