Summary
Phainon maneuvers himself higher up the bed, laying his head onto the pillow.
His throat feels tight and dry, like he's about to cough up sand: one deep breath, two deep breaths.
Three, four, five, six.
Phainon's eyes close as he feels himself calming down.
Sleep takes him instantly.
Just after the death of Aglaea, Phainon throws himself into her unfinished work out of guilt and grief of the recent departures of his loved ones, hoping to live up to the expectations she viewed him with and to cope, albeit unhealthily.
It comes to a point where he's unable to be awake any longer and is promptly ordered to rest.
Nightmares of Aedes Elysiae have always plagued him, making him fearful to sleep—yet when he shuts his eyes this time, he dreams of his beloved professor who seems to be a bit different than how he truly remembers.
