A Part of This?

Summary:

He walks into the apartment, seeing Andrew standing in the kitchen, his hands leaned on the counter, his back to Kevin. Kevin didn’t think anything of it at first, he set his stuff down by the door, and Andrew clearly heard him, but he didn’t turn around. “What’s the plan for dinner?” Kevin asks, making Andrew take in a long breath, his hand reaching down, out of sight. Kevin took a minute to realize what he had walked into, but he heard Neil’s voice instead of Andrew’s next.

Neil’s voice was shot, his breath coming out quickly, and Kevin realizes way too late what he walked into. “Answer him,” Neil says simply, to Andrew.

“Don’t care.” Andrew replies, his voice sounding wrecked.

Kevin freezes, Neil is out of sight, but it’s not hard to imagine what is happening. He can imagine Neil on his knees, taking Andrew as far as he could, maybe even a hand wrapped around what he couldn’t fit in his mouth. Andrew was silent, but Kevin’s sure his face was twisted in pleasure, especially as he reached his hand down to likely press into Neil’s hair.

Work Text:

When Kevin graduated and started to play pro exy full time, recruiters started to try to get Neil and Andrew. Kevin knew how badly they’d react to being apart, especially by multiple states, so Kevin brought it up with his team’s coaches. They said that they only had the budget for one of them, and they wanted Neil, but Kevin told them that Neil and Andrew were a package deal.

Two years later, they all played in pros full time, and together. Kevin didn’t really know when his friendship with the two grew, he just knows that it grew to the point where they all went in on a huge apartment together so they could be roommates again.

It wasn’t weird as Kevin had expected. Neil and Andrew were still together, and Kevin didn’t know how they’d react to living with someone else, but they both seemed unbothered by it. Andrew got his alone time when Neil was doing something with Kevin, he got his together time with Neil and Kevin both. It was good.

One day, Kevin gets home early from the gym. Their team has an off day, but he couldn’t take the day off, as expected. When he walks into the apartment, he sees Neil and Andrew on the couch, their lips pressed together with Neil straddling Andrew’s thighs. Kevin freezes, even though they live together, Andrew isn’t one for PDA, and this would be a big no from him. When he opened the door, they paused. “Sorry, I can…” Kevin starts, pointing behind him, his face red in embarrassment.

“It’s fine.” Neil says simply, getting off of Andrew, settling beside him. “Wanna watch a movie?” He asks, and that was that. Andrew didn’t seem half as bothered as Kevin expected, so he joined them on the couch. After a few minutes of awkwardness, things went back to normal as Andrew made rude comments about the movie and Neil ignored them in favor of saying what his favorite parts were.

After that first time, it seemed to happen a lot more. Kevin stopped getting awkward about it after about the third time, so it was normal now to see them kissing.

Kevin walks in after a grocery run, noticing the two horizontal on the couch, Andrew on top of Neil, but he just walks by them, heading for the kitchen to put the food away. When he came back to the living room, they were still pressed together, and it seems like it is heating up, so Kevin made himself scarce. Not long after, he heard a knock on his bedroom door. He was surprised, it wasn’t nearly long enough for them to even continue kissing, but he shrugs, standing up to go open the door.

“Come on, I want to watch that game you were talking about earlier.” Neil says at the door as soon as Kevin opens it. Kevin sees how flushed Neil is, his hair is a mess, but he clearly doesn’t care to hide it. He just shrugs and follows Neil into the living room.

When they got in there, surprisingly, Andrew stayed. Kevin turned on the game and by the end of the first half, Neil’s lips were back on Andrew’s. Kevin didn’t even notice until the game cut to reporters and he looked over to Neil to debrief. When Kevin sees them, his face turns red. They were getting too comfortable with him, he thought.

“I can go…” Kevin mutters, standing up from the couch.

Neil pulls back from Andrew’s mouth only for Andrew to speak, “If you want to.” Andrew shrugs, a hand still in Neil’s hair, but he looks at Kevin. Kevin pauses, that didn’t sound like one of Andrew’s usual dismissals. “We don’t care, clearly.” Andrew says, pulling Neil onto his lap. Kevin’s gotten more used to seeing them like this, sure, but being this close has him thinking things that he should not.

Kevin hesitantly sits back down on the couch, trying to keep his eyes away from Neil and Andrew, but he glanced back every few minutes, unable to stop looking completely. This went on for the entire fifteen-minute halftime, and when the game starts back up, Kevin clears his throat, his face burning red. “Game’s on.” Kevin says making Neil pull back from Andrew’s lips. He looks over at Kevin, but Kevin keeps his eyes glued to the TV.

Neil mutters something in German and presses a kiss to Andrew’s neck. Andrew makes a noise that Kevin never thought he’d hear, and Neil laughs, sitting back on the couch. Kevin makes a point not to look at either of them again, not when they got resituated and had to adjust themselves in their pants.

This happened a few more times over the next couple of weeks, but it was nothing compared to what Kevin walked in to see after an afternoon run.

Kevin doesn’t respond, so Andrew glances back at him, seeing him looking over at them in shock. Andrew’s face was twisted in pleasure, clearly, especially as Kevin heard the unmistakable sound of Neil’s mouth again. “I–I’m leaving. Text me what you want.” Kevin says, practically running out of the apartment. He hears Andrew or Neil or maybe both of them say something as he rushes out, but he can’t make it out before he’s in his car and driving away. When he’s a safe distance from the apartment, he pulls into a parking lot and internally freaks out. They were… Neil was sucking Andrew’s dick. In the middle of the kitchen. Knowing that Kevin would come home. And they were casual about it.

What the fuck is going on?

Kevin takes a few deep breaths, only now realizing how tight his pants are. He ignores it, he can’t think like that about them. He won’t. These are his friends, and they have been for years. Nothing else.

After a few minutes of a small panic attack, Kevin feels his phone buzzing in his pocket. He makes a hissing noise, moving the phone away from between his legs as quick as possible. He looks at the caller ID and it’s Neil. Before he answers, he takes a deep breath, trying to reign his thoughts back in. He picks up, but doesn’t say anything, letting Neil speak first.

“Where’d you go?” Andrew says, surprising Kevin. He probably thought that Kevin wouldn’t answer if he saw it was Andrew calling, and he would have been right.

“Dinner.” Kevin says simply, not letting his tone indicate that he’s freaked out.

“Kevin.” Andrew says, a warning, clearly.

“What?” Kevin says, letting his tone betray him, knowing that Andrew knows he’s freaked out.

“Get dinner and come home. We need to talk.” Andrew says, hanging up the phone call. Kevin takes a deep breath as he puts the car in drive, heading to their favorite Chinese restaurant. He orders their usual meals, gets them, and then gets in the car to drive back to the apartment. He’s nervous but no longer worked up. He isn’t sure how Andrew will react to him being seen like that, and Kevin isn’t sure what reaction he’d prefer anyways. Maybe a punch? That would make the most sense, and Kevin’s silently hoping for it so he can get it out of the way and be done with it.

When he pulls back into the parking lot, he sends a warning text that he’s here and grabs the food to head up. When he walks through the doors, it’s to a much tamer sight. Andrew and Neil are on the couch leaning against each other, their hands linked together. Kevin glances at them but doesn’t say anything as he sets the food down, watching out of his peripheral vision as Andrew leans forward to grab his food.

Kevin doesn’t know where to go, but Neil scoots over on the couch, leaving the middle cushion open. “Sit.” Andrew says, not looking up at Kevin. Kevin takes a breath, making his way to the couch. He sits down and immediately Neil is talking.

“Kevin, we’re sorry if that freaked you out.” Neil says, shaking his head. Andrew glares at Neil, but Neil doesn’t stop. “We shouldn’t have… we assumed.” Neil says, obviously getting nervous.

“Assumed?” Kevin asks, confused. “I was on a run… I was coming back.” Kevin says, realizing that he should probably apologize for walking in on them like that even though they were actively in the kitchen of their shared apartment. “I didn’t mean to walk in on you.” Kevin says his best attempt at an apology.

“That’s not what he means.” Andrew says, ignoring the half-hearted apology.

“No, we just… thought that it was clearer.” Neil says, sighing, only confusing Kevin further.

“Thought what was clearer?” Kevin asks, making Andrew roll his eyes. Neil reaches up to Kevin’s cheeks, hesitating before letting his hands touch Kevin’s skin.

Neil looks at him in a way that Kevin doesn’t understand, but Neil just sighs and asks him something that completely turns his world upside down. “Yes or no, Kevin?” Neil asks.

Kevin’s obviously shocked and confused. “What?” Kevin asks, completely lost. He turns his head just enough to see Andrew, looking at him with the same expression.

“Yes or no?” Andrew asks, repeating Neil.

“To what?” Kevin asks, obviously a little scared by that question. He’s heard it enough between Andrew and Neil to know it was their blunt, but extremely effective, way to ask for consent.

“Kevin, I want to kiss you. Yes or no?” Neil says, making Kevin’s eyes go wide. He stares at Neil, seeing the sure look on his face, and then stares at Andrew, seeing Andrew’s eyebrow raise in a question. “Kevin?” Neil asks, after a too long silence.

Kevin lets out a breath, not sure what he’s feeling, but he knows that he wants this. He’s thought about it for longer than he’d like to admit. Since college, since Andrew and Neil got less careful around the foxes, since he’d realized who Neil was, since Andrew made him that deal. “Yes.” Kevin says, his voice unsteady and unsure.

Neil smiles widely, holding Kevin’s jaw as he leans in. Kevin doesn’t know what to do, really. He knows he shouldn’t want this, he shouldn’t have said yes, and he shouldn’t touch either of them without explicit permission. Neil presses his lips to Kevin’s making Kevin’s eyes fall shut as he freezes for just a moment. When he realizes that Neil’s kissing him, actually kissing him, he presses in closer, still hesitant, but he kisses back. Neil smiles against his lips, pressing a hand into Kevin’s hair. Kevin is internally freaking out, but he heard Andrew’s voice behind him. “Yes or no?” Andrew asks quietly. Kevin doesn’t know what he’s agreeing to, but he isn’t going to pull back to ask. Kevin nods into the kiss and feels Andrew’s hand slip onto his waist, thumb running in circles to encourage him.

Neil doesn’t take long to press his tongue against Kevin’s lips, and Kevin opens his mouth in a gasp, feeling Neil’s tongue press into his mouth. Kevin’s breathing harshly, obviously freaking out, so Andrew speaks up again, “You can touch him, Kev.” Andrew says, and Kevin won’t do it, not until Neil says so. Neil nods and hums into Kevin’s mouth, so Kevin presses a hand to the side of Neil’s face, feeling the scars under his hands, feeling the movement of Neil.

The kiss lasts a lifetime, but also not long enough by Kevin’s standards. When Neil pulls back, he presses their foreheads together, his hands still in Kevin’s hair. Andrew grins behind Kevin, leaning over Kevin’s shoulder, making Neil meet him there, pressing their lips together. Kevin watches, closer than ever, seeing how their kiss differs from the one that he just shared with Neil. Andrew’s kisses are more rushed, teeth and tongues immediately. Kevin lets out a harsh breath at the sight, making Andrew pull them apart and turn to Kevin. Andrew doesn’t even get the words out before Kevin responds, “Yes.” Kevin says, making Andrew grin, laughing as he presses their lips together.

Kevin feels the stark difference in Andrew’s kiss, but he doesn’t mind one bit. Andrew’s tongue is immediately in his mouth, and Kevin drops his hands, Neil gripping it almost immediately. “You two are so beautiful.” Neil mutters, pressing his lips to the scars on Kevin’s hand. Kevin lets out a little whine, and his face burns red with embarrassment.

Andrew pulls back, grinning. “That’s what we thought was clearer.” Andrew says simply, squeezing Kevin’s waist.

“When did…” Kevin starts to ask, but then Neil’s sitting right and pulling Kevin down onto him. He moves Kevin so that he’s lying in Neil’s lap, his head on Neil’s thigh, hands running through his hair. Kevin’s legs are pulled up to his chest so that he wouldn’t touch Andrew, but Andrew settles down and pulls Kevin’s feet onto his lap.

“We thought you realized what we were doing.” Neil says, shaking his head with a smile.

“No.” Kevin shakes his head, “I still don’t, really.” Kevin admits, making Andrew roll his eyes, squeezing Kevin’s calf to bring the attention to him.

“We want you to be a part of this.” Andrew says simply, reaching for his food that’s still sitting on the table.

“Why?” Kevin asks, looking up between the two of them.

“Kevin, we’ve wanted that for a long time.” Neil says, running his fingers through Kevin’s hair. “We moved in together.” Neil says, making Andrew look up at him, confused.

“Yeah, because we’re friends and teammates.” Kevin says, realizing that it may not be the case now.

“No.” Andrew says simply, around a mouthful of noodles.

“Oh.” Kevin says, realizing how much they’d thought this through.

“Do you want this, Kevin?” Neil asks, his hand pausing. “Because we do.” He says, obviously nervously.

“How would this work?” Kevin asks, sitting up on the couch, resituating so that he can look between the two.

“We’d all be with each other.” Andrew says, shrugging.

“And you thought the best way to bring this up was to… blow him in the kitchen?” Kevin asks, looking at Neil. Andrew laughs, and Neil’s face goes red.

“We were hoping you’d see and join in.” Andrew shrugs, making Kevin’s face turn red.

“Oh.” Kevin says again, making Andrew laugh, rolling his eyes. Andrew bumps his shoulder with Kevin’s, obviously teasing him.

“So?” Neil asks, obviously hopefully.

“Yeah, yes.” Kevin says, more sure of himself now that he knows their intensions.

“Yeah?” Neil asks, excitedly. Kevin nods and Neil presses a kiss to his cheek, smiling widely.

Kevin just grins, putting his palm up, silently asking for Neil to take it. Neil notices, and does, almost immediately. They all reach for their food and eat like they haven’t eaten all day, silently enjoying each other’s presence.

After dinner, Andrew gets up to go get ice cream, despite Kevin’s glare, and hands a pint to Neil when he comes back. They both eat their ice cream and Kevin’s eyes flick between them and the TV, wanting to focus on the two of them more than whatever stupid show they were watching.

Kevin doesn’t realize when he fell asleep, but he wakes up with his head on Andrew’s shoulder, and an arm wrapped around his waist. He almost debates acting like he never woke up just to stay like this, but he knows he’s already pushing on a boundary that Andrew’s set many times before. “Sorry,” Kevin mutters, sitting up, but Andrew pulls him back down.

“Drew likes to cuddle.” Neil mutters beside him, obviously half asleep.

“Shut up, no I don’t.” Andrew says, his arm staying wrapped around Kevin anyways. Kevin’s hesitant to put his arm back around Andrew’s waist, but Andrew speaks up again, “You can touch,” he says softly, pressing his lips to Kevin’s hair.

Kevin smiles, nodding, wrapping his arm back around Andrew’s waist, hugging him close. Neil scoots over so that he’s leaning on Kevin, and he tangles their fingers together, letting Kevin sit their hands on his thigh. “This is nice.” Kevin says, sleepily.

“Yes.” Andrew says, not elaborating any more.

“I don’t want to get up.” Neil says, making Kevin nod.

“We don’t have to, but someone needs to set an alarm, we have practice in the morning.” Andrew says, yawning right afterwards. Neil fumbles with his phone, setting it on the table after the alarm was set.

“Goodnight.” Neil says, pressing a kiss to Kevin’s lips, and then leaning over him to press a kiss to Andrew’s. Andrew has a small smile on his face, and as Neil settles back against Kevin’s side, Andrew pushes some of Kevin’s hair out of his face. Kevin looks up at him and looks down at his lips.

“Can I?” Keivn asks, but Andrew’s already leaning down.

“You better.” Andrew mutters, pressing his lips to Kevin’s. Kevin smiles into the kiss, never having expected this with either of them, much less both.

All of them slept better that night than they had in weeks, years, probably, and at practice, they played their hardest, impressing many of their teammates, but they all knew they just wanted to compete with each other for who was better. It was perfect.
