Bright

Summary:

Heavy has never understood why people hate fluorescent lights.
They remind him of Doktor.
(And perhaps that is not healthy for his eyes.)

Medic keeps overfeeding his doves because thoughts of Heavy distract him.
Heavy is very good.
(And perhaps that is not healthy for his doves.)

Notes:

Y'ALL I am SO sorry if this is horrible, I had a huge headache while writing this but I haven't posted anything for a while and my brain would kill me if I just didn't write so.
Uh.
Without further ado, onto the story.

Chapter Text

Heavy liked fluorescent lights.

He knew most didn't. They were too bright, they gave people headaches. That they felt clinical or harsh. He'd heard Soldier complain about the lights in Medic's infirmary far too many times to count.

But Heavy liked them.

They reminded the man of his favourite person, Medic. He liked being reminded of his best friend.

Heavy was just staring at the light in his room. Fluorescent. His eyes burned, but he was smiling.

I love this Doktor.

"Heavy, do not stare at ze light! It is not good for you, Dummkopf!" Medic yelled. Heavy jumped at the voice, but his eyes softened at the sight of Medic.

"Doktor. I am fine," Heavy responded, his eyes drifting towards the light before back to Medic. The doctor himself sighed, before smiling once again.

"Anyvay! Ze respawn machine is broken, so all battles are off till it is fixed. Of course, I could just bring you all back to life, but I still could die! So ve have no battles." Medic smiled as if this was good news, before turning around. "Now, I must go vork on experiments! Tschüß, mein Freund!"

"Goodbye, Doktor." The Heavy sat down on his bed, the wooden frame creaking under his weight.

Medic scooped exactly half a cup of birdseed, dropping it into one of his doves, Einstein's, bowl. The birdseed clattered into the bowl as Medic hummed under his breath, scooping more and pouring it into Archimedes' bowl.

"Archimedes, nein! Do not steal Newton's birdseed!" Medic yelled, before going back to feeding the doves.

Heavy keeps on staring at ze fluorescent lights! Does he not realise zis is ze cause for his headaches? Dummkopf.

His thoughts halted as he glanced down at Archimedes' bowl, which he'd poured more seeds into. The incorrect amount of seeds.

"Scheiße," Medic muttered, nudging Archimedes away from the bowl. He sighed, pouring half of the seeds back into the cup. This was the second time he'd overfed a dove because of thinking of his best friend! A strange coincidence.

He glanced at his doves' bowls, all full. He turned, slightly adjusting a paper on his desk so it lined up with the rest.
