Through Long Nights

Summary:

Romeo has had a lot of lovers in her time. Some only for a night, or two, or three. Some for far longer. She saw no need for some great romance. It’s not the sort of thing she’d ever thought about. Sex is for fun or to get something. Romance another matter entirely.

Notes:

Written for the febyuri day 19 prompt “memories”. And that’s me caught up!

Work Text:

Romeo has had a lot of lovers in her time. Some only for a night, or two, or three. Some for far longer. Most of them were people she’d see sometimes, fuck when they both fancied, and otherwise have a drink or two with. She never really went in for long-term relationships. The fact of it was, a lot of people were hesitant to promise anything, but sex was a different matter. Romeo herself saw no need for some great romance. It’s not the sort of thing she’d ever thought about. Sex is for fun or to get something. Romance another matter entirely. So, she fucked people as she pleased, and avoided even the slightest possibility of pregnancy.

She remembers all her lovers, of course, she’s not some callous nobleman with no regard for the women who lie beside them, but she thinks of some more often than others. There have been some who were simply better to be with, one way or another.

Almost all of those she remembers the most of were those who she was with for more than a single night, simply because there was more to remember. There are some exceptions, though, Ilse chief among them. See, one night naturally provides fewer fond memories to turn over than several nights, but Ilse was very good. Sex with Ilse made her realise how enjoyable sex could be. She’d had good sex before Ilse, but she was on another level.

Then there was Opal, with whom she’d spent a glorious few months. More than anything else, she valued how clear it was that Opal respected her. Much like Ilse, and unlike several previous lovers, she never pushed for anything Romeo was unwilling to give. That consideration felt something like love.
