(Kanaya POV)
“Kanaya! Karkat! Where are you?” You hear as you wake up with a buzzing head, on a gloomy night.
“We’re here! Kanaya hit her head!” a closer sound shouts out, you struggle while trying to get up from a lying position to a sitting position. You don't remember why you’re here or how you all ended up here.
“Where are we?” you ask the mutant blood next to you, hoping to be enlightened. “Kanaya!” He shouts out, relatively quiet in surprise. “Are you okay?” he questions before you ask again, “I'm okay, although my head hurts very badly. Where are we?” he stopped before answering, “We’re on Earth. We landed hard on the rocky surface and you hit your head.” Karkat pushes your head down to rest on his leg again. “Don't try to get up. I'm waiting for Kankri to arrive so we can treat you properly.” You comply as you put her head down and look around at the green plants around you.
“What do we know about the residents of this planet? I know about humans but I haven't read anything about them besides their appearance. Perhaps the amount of alien rom-coms you read might help us.”
“I have read a few Earth romances before but it was a long time ago. I remember a few things about them like how weak they are. I also know that they are total pale sluts. Those humans that I’ve read about went pale for just anyone!”
“I see, although I think it would be much more useful if you knew their general societal norms instead of knowing how much of a slut they are.”
“Yeah thank you too, you asshole.”
“You are most welcome.” Kankri reaches you as you and Karkat argue about human Romance.
“You okay, Kanaya?”
“Yes, I am quite all right compared to when I first woke up actually. My headache has faded about 5 minutes ago.
“Okay, stay like that. I'll clean up the blood on your head.” Kankri commands you as he moves towards the ship.
“Wait!” You call him before he has a chance to leave. “How are we supposed to blend in with the residents of this planet?”
Kankri waits before replying, perhaps he’s thinking about something. “I don't know much about them. For now, we'll just use our powers to cover up our troll features and not interact with anyone unless they interact with us.”
“And if they interact with us?”
“Then we'll try to reply to them in a natural way. Don't converse with them unless it's absolutely necessary.
Something clicked and Karkat. “I think there may be a book about humans on the ship.” you and Kankri both stare at him, as if saying ‘Why would we have such a book?’. So Karkat explained further, “Sollux insisted that I get it.”
“Sollux? Why does he have a book about humans?” Kankri questions.
“I'm not sure. He showed interest in alien cultures for a while, but he was very secretive about it.”
“I'll go look for the book. Any idea where it is?”
“It might be inside that chest behind the supply box. I put all the books I brought there.” Karkat replied before Kankri left you and Karkat alone. The air between you and Karkat was tense. He was visibly upset, well, more upset than usual.
“What's on your mind Karkat?”
“I'm thinking about them.”
“Them?”
“Everyone. Gamzee, Sollux, Nepeta…” Karkat paused before continuing,
“We don't know if we'll ever see them again.”
“I'm sure we will meet again someday. I tried to comfort Karkat before I added, “Why don’t we look around this place tomorrow, after we put our disguises on?
Karkat had a thoughtful expression as he replied, a little hesitant “I guess that would be nice. We could learn more about how to fit in.”
Kanaya smiled at the response, as she got up. “Indeed. I also think it would be a nice distraction for you.”
“We may go tomorrow then. I wanna get human books. I finished my last one earlier than I expected.”
Kankri came again before you could reply to Karkat, “Kanaya, you should be lying down.”
In the end, at least the 3 were still together here. They will look for the others. Find a proper place to live, perhaps stay here.
Perhaps meet new people.
