Summary
Julie is a Master's student in UC Berkeley's music program. In her second year, she has everything to gain and nothing to lose. With her mother, Rosa's, death still fresh even so many years later and with her fragile family and friend ties hanging by a nearly snapping guitar string, Julie feels determined to have something go right for her for once. School has always been something she could fall back on, and now that she has allowed music back into her life, she thinks things are finally on the mend. That is, until Luke Patterson comes into her life. Luke is everything Julie is not looking for: he's younger, he's got an obvious chip on his shoulder, he still wears skinny jeans in the year 2026, and he's passionate about music in a way that is charmingly infuriating.
