Showering Together

Summary:

Tommy is exhausted after a shift and Evan helps him clean up

Notes:

This is day 24 of the BuckTommyFluffebruary challenge and the prompt was showering together

Work Text:

A warm rush of water beat against his back as Tommy leaned sideways. The tile was cool under his arm and shoulder. It contrasted nicely with the warmth of the shower but it wasn't enough to keep his eyes from drifting closed. His shift had been long, punishing, and left him with aching muscles. It had taken nearly all of his energy to drive home.

Stripping and stepping into the shower had taken most of the rest of it.

His head drifted to the side until his temple rested on the tile. The smooth coolness felt so good against his work-heated skin. He could just stay here. It was warm and safe and home and he could fall asleep here. Just keep his eyes closed and drift off...

“Tommy?” Evan's voice was quiet as he stood in the doorway to the bathroom. “You okay?”

A quiet groan was all he could manage. Though he cracked his eyes open to stare blearily at the shower curtain. After a moment, the curtain moved aside enough for Evan's face to peer through. He smiled softly when he saw Tommy, understanding in his eyes.

“Hey, baby,” Evan said. He reached in and squeezed Tommy’s shoulder. “You look dead on your feet. Give me a second and I'll come help you.”

Evan's face disappeared and then there was the rustling of clothes. Closing his eyes again, Tommy just listened until he felt hands on his shoulders. He leaned into Evan, resting his head on his shoulder.

“So tired,” Tommy muttered against the skin of Evan's shoulder.

“I know. Let's get you clean and then into bed,” Evan chuckled. “Can you stand up for me, Tommy?”

Tommy grumbled but allowed Evan to move him so that he was leaning on the wall again. He closed his eyes, still savoring the hot water beating against him. Also having a completely naked Evan here in the shower with him. Not that he was in any position to do anything about it but the closeness was nice. A click was followed by a soft wet sound. Then hands were in his hair, nails scraping across his scalp. Tommy moaned, tilting his head down so that Evan could reach every part of his scalp.

He didn't know how long Evan worked the shampoo into his hair. Nor did he really care. All that mattered was the warmth and the touch and the care. His head moved this way and that as Evan carefully worked his fingers through Tommy's curls. He was nearly asleep when Evan skated his hands down his neck to his shoulders.

“Tip your head back for me, baby,” Evan said, pushing gently on Tommy's shoulders to step him back further under the spray. “Let's rinse the shampoo out. Keep your eyes closed.”

Tommy hummed quietly. It didn't take long to rinse everything out of his hair. The warm water felt good on his head, soothing him even further. At this point, if Evan hadn't been here, he was sure he'd have fallen sound asleep. He was surprised when Evan pulled on his shoulders to have him step forward out of the spray again. Opening his eyes, Tommy grumbled a bit.

“It's okay, we're almost done,” Evan said. He pressed a kiss to Tommy's lips. “A quick wash with the soap and we can get out.”

Tommy hummed again, a little annoyed but mostly agreeing with anything Evan was saying right now. After Evan soaped up a washcloth, he ran it over Tommy's body. While his fingers lingered over Tommy's belly and across his back, there wasn't anything sexual in it in this moment. It was an appreciation of Tommy's body, of being able to see him like this, to have Tommy trust him like this.

It was love.

Once again, Evan stepped Tommy back under the spray. He moved his limbs so that all the soap was rinsed off. Then, he took a moment to let the water run over Tommy again, making sure there was no residual soap. After reaching around Tommy's side to shut the water off, Evan guided him out of the shower.

Tommy stepped willingly after Evan, shivering a little with the water off. He watched Evan dry them both off, his fingers tracking over his shoulders or down his arms as he moved. Every few moments, Evan looked up at him and smiled.

“Feel like putting sleep clothes on?” Evan asked when they were dry. He took Tommy's hand and led him into the bedroom.

“No,” Tommy replied, yawning halfway through the word. “Just sleep.”

Evan nodded and they both got into bed. After a few moments of shuffling under the covers, Tommy rested on his side curled into Evan. One arm wrapped around his shoulders, holding him close. Under his ear, he could hear the steady beating of Evan's heart.

“Sleep, baby,” Evan murmured, stroking his fingers over Tommy's hair. “I love you.”

“Love you,” Tommy replied, falling asleep almost before the echo of the words faded.
