Many pains irked L’s vessel, many old and some new. Some constant and many recurring; creeping through the cracks of moments he thought himself safe from its influence.
The scars upon his flesh told a story– one of hubris, nihilism and tragedy, that few got to witness... Not that he wished for another soul to see his torment. The agony of being alive—and immortal—was his burden... Not to be shared. The marks from his failure were his own to hate and treasure in equal measure.
He simply had to live with his new reality, one marred by little agonies that weighed him down, until sometimes it became too much. There were times he was all but useless as a tool for Zygarde’s will. Unable to move, if physically barred by his pains or restrained by his own mind. Imprisoned within his own damned body.
Those days were not good.
But even on the days he could be an atoning implement, at times his pain could not be so hidden. A limp manifesting after a cold night of curling his gangly body into shapes it should not be. His slouching in an attempt to appease the near endless backache... Only to make it worse in the long run. His posture was terrible.
His bones liked to remind him of that fact often.
Frequently, his task didn’t help much either, the walking and climbing through all sorts of hidden areas of Lumiose had him physically exhausted by the end of the day.
At least he knew on those aching nights, he’d done well... And deserved the reprieve. In the aftermath, Zygarde would reward him, snuggling up close with it’s head in his lap, contentment and warmth surrounding them.
And on those peaceful nights, the constant pain felt almost far away...
