1)
Owen was terrified.
Shelby wasn't in her room, she hadn't come to breakfast or lunch. She wasn't-
Where was she?
"Jimmy. Where is Shelby?"
Jimmy had to know where she was.
He had to.
If anyone knew where she was Jimmy did.
Of course he did.
"…She's in the lab, Owen."
The lab.
Legundo's lab.
Shit.
Shit. No no no no no.
She couldn't-
Shit.
"How long has she been in the lab?"
"Since early this morning. He's cut my cameras, I don't know what's happening in there."
"Okay. Right. Okay. Tell- Tell me when she's back in her room, please, Jimmy."
Because Legundo always placed them back in their room after an operation, every time. A reminder that nowhere was safe from him. That your room wasn't somewhere you could hide from him.
"I will."
Shelby didn't deserve this.
She was so young.
Maybe-
If he could get Legundo off of the ship maybe-
No.
No, not yet. Not so soon. Once Shelby was settled in.
He'd keep her safe.
He would.

Owen was sat in the living room knitting when Scott approached, he looked pale, he was wearing his coat over a sweater and had a blanket wrapped around him. He looked like shit. He'd missed every meal that day- and Owen knew what that meant. Missing meals meant someone was taken to the lab.
"Scott?"
"Can- …Can I sit with you? I- Jimmy's having Louis make some soup, I just. Can I sit with you?"
"Of course."
Scott and Shelby had different reactions to lab days. Shelby- she seemed unfazed, back to her normal self once the sedation wore off- and oh how Owen was so horrifically glad she was always sedated. Legundo didn't always sedate them- it was a rare thing for anyone but Shelby. Scott- he'd search for someone to sit with afterwards, wrap himself in as many blankets as possible, eat the hottest things he could regardless of if he burnt his mouth doing so or not.
You could always tell when Scott was out of the lab- the ship warmed with his movements, Jimmy doing his best to help. Scott's room was always the warmest, a warmth that you could feel rush at you when you opened the door.
Owen was silent as Scott tucked himself against him, curled into Owen like he wanted to steal his body heat.
Owen was silent as he knit.
Eventually Scott spoke.
"…He wanted to see how long it'd take me to bleed out, if he could make it take longer. He said it was so I could stay in fighting shape longer if anything happened. I think he wanted to hear me scream."
Shit.
Okay.
Fuck.
"I'm going to kill him."
"You can't."
"Scott-"
"No. Shelby doesn't need to lose her dad. I'm okay. I'm here. I'm okay. I- …Jimmy's got some hiding spots, he said he'll help me hide. I just- I don't want it to get worse for you."
"I'll take it, Scott. Hide, keep yourself safe. If it means you stay hidden it means you stay hidden."
"…Thanks."
"Don't thank me, Scott. I haven't done anything good."
One day, one day he'd get rid of the Doctor. He'd keep his siblings safe, he would.

Owen was in the music room with Scott when Martyn entered the room- one of their two newer crew members. He looked pale, his eyes wide, he looked terrified.
"Martyn? What's wrong?"
"I can't find Ren and- I can't find Shelby either. I thought they might be together- they were sharing stories yesterday and I thought I'd find them together in the library but I can't find them. I don't know where they are and- they weren't in the kitchen and Louis hasn't seen them and I just- I thought they'd be in here."
Right.
Okay.
This was fine.
They were probably just somewhere small or in a room Martyn hadn't thought to check.
"Have you asked Jimmy where they are?"
"…"
Of course not.
It was Scott who spoke next.
"Jimmy, dear, do you know where Ren and Shelby are?"
He'd never get used to the fact that Scott was dating their ship. Never.
"They're in the lab."
Both of them?
Both of them?
That-
"…He didn't cut the cameras today. Shelby's taking notes, I can't hear what he's saying but- he's using her as a note taker."
Oh.
Right.
Archivist.
That-
"She shouldn't need to see that."
He was going to get rid of Legundo somehow. Someday.
Today-
Today he was going to make sure Martyn was okay while they waited for Ren to get out of the lab, then he'd care for Shelby and make sure she was okay.
She wouldn't need to take notes for him- not if Owen had anything to say about it.

Owen was helping Louis with the dishes when Ren appeared.
"Owen."
"Ren, is everything okay?"
"I-…Martyn's in the lab today."
Ah.
Ren and Martyn weren't a pair that should be separated, they'd barely known one another when they were mortal, but here on the ship? they were close, extremely so. Ren had ensured they saved Martyn- a man he'd barely known, because he didn't deserve to burn in the fire Ren had helped start.
"He's- Legundo's making him take notes while he experiments on Scott it- …I think it's meant to be a punishment of sorts for him being the Archivist instead of Shelby."
A punishment for Owen.
A reminder that he's powerless here.
That him keeping Shelby safe will only hurt the others.
One day he'd find a way to kill the Doctor. He would.
Today he had crew members to care for.
"…Well shit. Why don't we get a nest ready for them, we can have a sleepover in the bridge, yeah?"
Jimmy had started keeping Legundo out of the bridge, Scott loved the stars, it was one of the few rooms Legundo couldn't go- one of the few rooms he wouldn't touch.
"Yeah. Yeah Martyn will love that."

Owen was knitting when Abolish entered the room, Abolish who had been missing for the past three days. Three days in the lab. He was their newest member, a mystery to many of them, he didn't talk much, mostly sat on the bridge or in the armory that he'd created.
"Owen."
"Abolish."
Abolish didn't seek comfort or warmth like the others after time in the lab, instead he looked Owen in the eyes, steady, unblinking.
"If you don't get that bastard doctor off the ship I will. Deal with him before I do."
Owen nodded once.
"Thank you."
Because what he was given was time to plan- to make sure Shelby wasn't there when he did it and if needed- someone to push the blame onto, should Shelby be upset and she would be upset.
"Don't mention it."
He'd get rid of the Doctor. He would.

It was late at night, Owen was getting ready for bed. He didn't expect his door to open, for Ren to rush inside.
"Ren?"
"Legundo just came to grab Martyn- he wants to have him take notes as he experiments on Shelby's heart and- …Owen he's not going to sedate her this time."
Shit.
That-
Shit. No, no no no no no.
He didn't say anything.
He just ran.
He ran into the Doctor- literally.
"Owen, you're out quite late. I thought you'd be in bed by now."
That's why he was doing it tonight.
He thought he'd be asleep.
That fucker.
"You're done, Legundo."
Legundo laughed, loudly.
"Really? Done? And why is that, Owen?"
He didn't get to respond.
A bullet lodged itself into Legundo's head.
Abolish stood behind Legundo, gun in hand.
"That won't keep him down for long, Owen."
"Thank you."
"Don't mention it. I told you I'd get rid of him one day."
Owen and Abolish carried Legundo to the airlock while Ren ran to Martyn. It was Owen who threw Legundo out of the airlock that night. It was Owen who told Shelby the next morning that the Doctor was gone- that he'd gone out the airlock in the middle of the night- they didn't know who did it. Jimmy claimed his cameras had been malfunctioning. Scott said he'd been meaning to fix those cameras. Abolish said nothing. Martyn and Ren stayed silent.
The Doctor was gone.
