    He was still silent as he watched her, and Betty pressed the phone closer to her ear. “You didn’t make me uncomfortable at all,” Betty whispered after the quiet had surrounded her for too long. “Am I making you uncomfortable?” She looked away from Archie’s face and focused her attention on her windowsill. There was a framed photograph of her and Archie on it, and the memory boosted her waning confidence.
