Chapter Text
Lucifer really hadn’t thought he could have hit his head any harder when a soft, angelic being had appeared suddenly, flapping its wings happily as it smiled down on Lucifer who simply groaned, mouth slightly agape as he summoned his staff to his side at once. “Uh.. Who are you, exactly?” Alastor appeared at his side in an instant, chuckling at the sight of the man on the floor before lifting Lucifer off his feet.
“I’m Lucifer!”
Alastor grinned at the angel, teeth so tightly pulled back that it looked like it hurt. Lucifer could tell he wasn’t happy about the angel’s presence whatsoever. You end up noticing things about someone when you’ve lived with them for so long, and Alastor was no exception to that. Lucifer placed a sudden hand onto Alastor, looking his way as the demon shrugged, hand on the bridge of his nose as he shook his head in disdain.
“This, being.. suddenly appeared out of goodness knows where. Had I not been explained the situation I would have smothered its benevolent soul.” Alastor gestured towards the angel in a somewhat condescending manner, and Lucifer couldn’t help the dip in his stomach. That gown, his bluish-pink eyes, his halo that held a snake wrapped around the diamond. You have got to be kidding me. Suddenly, a man with a similar smile to Alastor appeared, walking towards the angel with a slight frown tugging his lips. He was a tan, slightly tall man, not as tall as Alastor, albeit, but barely anyone reached Alastor's freakishly tall height, even in hell! Anyways, Lucifer knew he was tall for a human being at least. Lucifer watched almost amusingly so as the man looked fondly towards the angel, hands reaching up.
“Now, what did I say about scaring the guest, dear Luci?” The voice was unmistakable, having Lucifer gasping before anything was even said about the matter.
“Alastor!?”
Was all that he could come up with, swinging his head towards his Alastor who simply waved, brows furrowed slightly.
“It’s just, he’s so similar to me! Did you see his cheeks? Did you?” Al simply nodded, holding the other’s hand slightly as Luci flew closer, wings fluttering as he looked between Lucifer and Alastor with all the curiosity in the world.
Lucifer blinked at the accusation, he didn’t look like that.. Did he? “What the hell’s going on?” Alastor sighed, rolling his eyes before moving towards the others, cane pointing at Luci who simply smiled shyly.
“This is, from what I know, you. Think of it as an alternate version dear, now, heaven knows how they ended up in this predicament, but they seem to be a version of ourselves far out of our realm.”
Lucifer let out a sort of nervous laugh in response, hands combing through his hair as he looked back between the angel and himself, a dark pit beginning to form within his stomach as he realized what “alternative version” this was of himself. So this is how he’d be if he hadn’t betrayed God.
“You're spiraling, dear.”
He felt the warmth of a hand on his shoulder, one he didn’t recognize, along with a fierce scowl.
“I don’t remember myself being such a darling.” Al simply rolled his eyes, shifting his position in order to be facing Alastor who was now standing tall, no doubt using his powers to further overpower him, eyes staring down Al who chuckled lowly under his breath.
“Being around an archangel shifts an individual’s sense of self.” Alastors eyes shifted towards Luci who was beginning to pull Lucifer towards them.
“I’m sure you know what kind of fate awaits you. A sinner such as yourself is damned no matter the change.”
Luci sent a glare Alastor’s way, dragging Lucifer up with him as he inserted himself, head popping between them.
“When I met Al he was killing at least five people a night! Now he’s only killing once, or twice every month!”
Lucifer had somewhat gotten out of his shock, his eyes roamed as shifted his head upward, looking at the Angel, er, well, himself, head shaking like a dog as he flapped his own wings, setting himself in front of Alastor, hands in his face as he snapped his fingers.
“Yeah, whatever was happening before needs to stop. You are not killing yourself. Literally.”
Lucifer snorted at his own remark, sighing in relief when Alastor simply stepped back, eyes showing every bit of his annoyance as he stared pointedly at Al.
“Oh so possessive I see. What do you see in this fallen angel?” Lucifer chuckled lowly, ignoring the jab as he swung a knowing look at Alastor who simply looked the other way, eyes squinted together as his brows furrowed, hands crossed like a toddler Lucifer mused.
“This guy? Jealous? Ha! You must’ve lost some marbles on your way in!”
Al flashed a smile towards Lucifer as he held his stomach, giggling like a school girl as his robe slipped to reveal parts of his shoulder
Al’s eyes lingered for a moment before being promptly disrupted by an annoyed red haired deer who looked to be on the verge of truly annihilating his kin, hands tight as he grabbed onto Lucifer’s shoulders, almost alluringly so.
“You are just the exact image of my Luci. It really is darling, the differences one might find after accounting for such.. Astounding similarities.” Both Lucifers lifted their eyebrows, looking towards each other, Luci closing in on Lucifer who grimaced at the proximity, eyes darting towards Alastor as he mouthed a small ‘help me’ before looking back at Luci.
Alastor simply waved Lucifer’s way, hand returning to his back as he looked forward, stepping much closer towards Al. “Oh I’m positive there exists just as many differences as similarities. Although, I don’t know how well your little angel would take it if you were to lust for another.” Alastor’s posture shifted at the last part, antlers growing as his eyes began to turn into red dials, static of artificial laughter bursting from his cane.
“It is Luci, simply another form of himself.” Al quipped back, hands behind his back as he rolled his eyes dramatically.
Alastor gritted his teeth, looking back at Lucifer who groaned as Luci spun around him, head laying back onto a mountain of ducks that squeaked slightly under him.
“Had it not been for him, both you and your insolent archangel would have been turned into tonight’s radio broadcast.”
“Oh thank my lucky stars then, really, God has truly brought about a blessing for me!”
Al held his hands together, looking up at the sky in feign innocence, Alastor sucked in a breath, promptly interrupted as a scream from Lucifer caused both to turn instantly.
Lucifer was practically shouting as Luci tried (and failed) to take his robe off of him, hands gripping onto the silk fabric as Lucifer looked at Alastor with slight tears in his eyes, Alastor wasn’t sure if they were from laughing or crying, knowing the king, it was mostly like both.
“Tell your damn angel to let go of me! I seriously don’t remember being this strong. A-am I getting old Bambi?” Alastor sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose as he walked over, shrugging his shoulders as he parted the angel's fierce grip from Lucifer.
“To answer your question, you don’t look a day over 1,000.” Lucifer frowned, sticking his tongue out as he crossed his arms, tucking his chin as he crossed his legs, wings flapping in the air, as if to create a barrier between him and anyone else who tried getting too close.
“Oh yeah, real convincing pal.” Alastor hummed in response, looking over to Luci now who huffed in defeat, arms also crossed, although Alastor did note how childish Luci looked in comparison to Lucifer.
“Luci, why have you attempted to strip the king of his dignity?” Luci laid himself closer to Al, body shifting as the ducks below disinflated, causing a soft squeak to come out.
“I just wanted to see if what they said about fallen angels having scars on their back was true. It was my only chance!”
Alastor’s eyes widened, looking towards Lucifer who averted his gaze, hands shifting in his lap.
“What sort of scar would this be?” Alastor questioned, looking towards Luci with intrigue shimmering in his eyes.
“From what I’ve heard, it’s a scar that exists on their back, it’s a bit small, but it’s got the shape of the eye of God, it’s supposed to signify that God’s always watching, even when you think he isn’t! It’s given to those who are damned in order to punish them for deceiving God while knowing he’s watching their sinful actions take place.” Luci made an eye with his hands, grabbing his halo as he tipped a golden liquid onto his palm, bringing the eye to life as it shimmered, blinking as it faded once it sensed Alastor’s presence, white pupil becoming red in an instant before disintegrating.
“It seems we’ve hit a sore spot.” Al remarked, eyes pointing towards Lucifer who had his wings closed in on himself. Luci immediately disregarded the remark, passing a worried glance towards Al who shrugged, nudging Luci forward with his arm, nodding as if in understanding as Luci lifted himself, coming close towards Lucifer before being stopped by a cane placed in front of him.
“Ah, Luci, it’s best we not interrupt the king at the moment.” Alastor’s voice let out a rather loud static noise, it lingered in the air for a brief moment as Luci bit back a hurt expression, a pang of guilt flitting across his face.
A few moments later Lucifer had recuperated himself enough to face the crowd of eyes that awaited him, not that he really cared anymore, well, he did. But he also didn’t, he was the damn sign of pride, yet here he was, crying his eyes out with his wings hiding the absolute pathetic scene that he’s pretty sure they heard. Not that he cared, obviously.
“I didn’t mean to, uh. Ha! Let’s move on now folks.” His wings had turned slightly rigged as they retracted to his side, a slight frown tugging at his lips as he smiled, hands pushing away imaginary dust from his shoulders, pink robe swinging slightly as he rubbed his eyes.
“I also didn’t mean to hurt you. I’m sorry, please don’t be sad.” Luci came closer now, closing in on Lucifer who gave his best ‘don’t you dare butt in right now or I will throw you off my balcony’ glare at Alastor who huffed in return, moving back slightly in order to provide space for the both of them.
Luci smiled at the opportunity, clasping his hand with Lucifer who gave him a gentle smile. And the truth was that he wasn’t really that pissed at Luci, just some bad memories piling up in that ol’ noggin of his causing him to be actually vulnerable in front of people rather than while watching duckster the third.
A sudden burst of static began to be played, one louder than any of them had ever heard before as they looked back towards Alastor whose eyes were strained, larger antlers growing as he breathed heavily before returning to his humanoid form, hands behind his back.
Lucifer was at his side almost instantly, eyes looking up at Alastor as he bit his lip nervously, looking back at Luci and Al, a warmth of angelic energy more powerful than his own, a binding contract of some sort.
“You doing okay?”Alastor nodded, a fond look in his eye flickering across his face for a second before disappearing in an instant, as if never there.
“I am quite alright darling, and the weather is much less humid above here.” Luci giggled at the pet name, with Lucifer’s response a simple eyeroll as he lifted himself to be at eye level with Alastor, a very polite middle finger being displayed as Al snickered.
“Yeah, yeah. Woah, a short joke, how about expanding to new insults? And anyways, something's definitely up with these two, I can feel something.”
Al raised an eyebrow at that, looking towards Luci who shrugged in return, eyes focused on Lucifer who held a hand under his chin, deep in thought before nodding to himself in understanding. He still wasn’t really convinced that Luci was his kin, but from the radiating energy coming from him, he couldn’t really deny it, eugh, he was way too naive during his time as an angel, seriously, this happy energy is nostalgic and absolutely embarrassing at the same time.
Lucifer took a deep breath in, beginning to grow his horns as his wings expanded, an expanding hexagram growing within his eyes as his eyes roamed the room, settling onto Luci and Al who carried two sorts of strings attached to them, a red one, undoubtedly a sign they were soulmates, which,uh, wait what. Andd, he was back to his regular form, why’d that have to be the thing he honed in on? Atleast he’d gotten a slight glimpse of the angelic magic around them, not that he was able to decipher much.
Luci clapped as he smiled, practically bouncing in his seat as he spoke. “Wow! That was so cool! How often can you do that? I mean, not that you have to do it a lot probably, haha, but, that was so powerful! It kinda made me woozy!” Al put a hand on Luci’s shoulder, giving him a knowing look as Luci inhaled a dramatic breath, arms doing an in and out motion as his breathing became more levelled.
“What is it that was revealed to you, your majesty?” Alastor, being the bastard that he is, leaned down towards Lucifer, a cheeky grin shimmering in his eye as he came slightly closer, ears twitching at the clenched fists at Lucifer’s side. This guy and his short jokes, yes we get it, Lucifer is short! Oh he’d so be giving him the silent treatment after they figured this whole situation out, and did he mention that these two were-
“Their soulmates.” Was all that came out of Lucifer’s mouth before he could even register the transfer of information that was very much not so quietly said as he would have liked it to be, which he immediately regretted if the faces both Al and Luci were making were any indicator of the amount of questions that were about to bombarded him.
