More nights together

Summary:

Akihiko falls asleep in Haruki's bed, how does the rest of their night go? Idk, this is a thought I have too often lol

Notes:

My second attempt at a short fluffy piece I wrote kinda for my own eyes, but I do like this one :)

Work Text:

Akihiko woke up surrounded by darkness. Nothing new. His groggy eyes adjusted to the scene around him, the more focused his vision, the clearer he could see the domesticity of his surroundings. Too furnished to be his own basement. Then it hit him, it wasn't his bed. He jumped up quickly, too quickly the room spun. It wasn't like him to drink so much he woke up unaware of the actions before that led him into some stranger's bed. But the more he came to he was met with a more familiar atmosphere. That should be comforting at least but it made him groan even more as he surveyed the glasses and light manga on the night stand. He slid the door open to exit to find the owner curled on the sectional with a light blanket draped over him. He didn't want to wake him to announce his departure, but he couldn't leave him on the couch. He could hurt his neck or back, even if he did fit comfortably there. It wasn't right for him to let Akihiko have the bed while he slept out here.
"You idiot." He mumbled to the slumbering blond as he leaned down to carry Haruki back to bed. It was just like him to always put others ahead of himself, Akihiko hated it when he placed his needs above himself. With more ease than he expected, he wrapped his arms over the slim figure, one tucked under his knees and the other cradling his head for his own comfort but also any reason to touch the hair he's been growing out lately. Gently, slower than needed, he lowered him back to bed and pulled the cover over him. Akihiko lingered beside him, taking note of how loose his ponytail had become in the transaction. His hair was indeed a mess, a stark difference to how neatly he always had it styled. Surely it would become matted if it stayed like this. Akihiko let his fingers rake through the blond strands, freeing it from his hair tie. Much more than he wanted to admit, he enjoyed playing in his hair. It always felt soft and smelled of his light shampoo and shared cigarettes. He tried to make his actions as discreet as possible without startling the sleeping man as he parted it in three sections and created a loose braid, tying it at the end with the scrunchie. He wouldn't admit this but he would watch the videos Haruki would film at the salon and take notes on how to do simple styles like braids, ponytails, even Princess Leia buns just in case he was ever asked to recreate them. Highly unlikely. There. The braid was a success, he placed his gracious host in his rightful bed. There was nothing left to do here now but leave. Yet Akihiko remained rooted, kneeling beside the bed. No one said he had to leave. He wasn't hurting anyone or anything if he decided to stay the night. He could go pull out the futon like Haruki suggested or grab the couch.
'Sleep on the floor then, I don't care'. He remembered the invitation before he fell asleep in his bed. Something pulled him to the bed, like he had to lay there. Maybe a part of him even wished Haruki had joined him. Were they not as close as Akihiko thought to be able to share a bed without it being weird? He stopped asking himself awhile ago why did these feelings keep stirring up, only indulging and acting on them when under the influence. That way if it goes wrong, he can blame the drinks they shared. That way if he had too much, he could at least buy a few more hours of his company. But in the end, he always caught himself with this weird fantasy that made him retreat and go back home. It was a thought of waking up together, cooking breakfast, not for each other but beside one another. A routine of a simple domestic life, one he's been without for so damn long. He craved for it. Now he knows it resides in that living room he sometimes sleeps in and he can't stay away. He rests his head in his arms and chuckles quietly at himself.
"I'm so screwed." He admits, laughing because it was true. Lately, he'd give his left arm to spend his time with his band mate. Just being around him was enough for him, however, so for the meantime, he would take the floor. Glancing at the clock, he could see it wasn't so late after all. They were just getting old and outdid themselves with the drinks is all. He scrambled to the living room and grabbed a few pillows and a blanket to sleep on the floor next to the bed. Was it comfortable? Of course not. The blanket was far too short for him to sleep under. He even contemplated taking the comforter Haruki had kicked off of himself and giving him the blanket instead. But this would suffice, taking pleasure in seeing the wild sleeper Haruki could be before he drifted off to sleep.

The light was beyond blinding any other day, but today it was excruciatingly so as Haruki tried to adjust. He woke up splayed across his bed, the comforter only concealing his calves. He was confused to say the least. He doesn't remember much of last night, but he doesn't remember coming to bed either. He went to touch at his hair, it wasn't braided yesterday. Especially not this neatly, Haruki sucked at braiding his own hair. He reached for his bedside table, grabbing his glasses to check for any other odd developments. Then he spotted a figure in his room. Just a lump with his blanket covering his upper half. Haruki squinted to make out the silhouette. From their looks, they seemed to be bulky. They laid in a fetal position with their back facing Haruki, and quickly his face began to flush a bright red. He can recognize that back from a mile away. His earrings glistening under the sunlight. A million reactions returned to him at once.
Oh yeah, he slept in here last night. On me!
He covered his face in his palms as if Akihiko could see him blushing. He remembers moving from beneath him and letting him take over the bed while he slept on the couch. Maybe at some point, Kaji woke up, braided his hair, and took him to bed? Haruki wanted to somehow seep through his bed, into the floor, into the ground, and just become one with the soil as his mind slowly caught up to the present. In the end of it all, he didn't go home. He seemed awake enough to do all of this, but decided to take the floor. Haruki's heart fluttered as he watched him sleeping albeit uncomfortably and listened to his low snoring. Grabbing his phone still in his pocket, he snuck a photo for his secret gallery. How often does this man sleep in his room of all places? It was one for the books. Haruki could watch him sleep forever. Alas, that was enough of that. He grabbed his pillow and tossed it at him hard, startling him awake. Akihiko sat up with a groan from the bright light, rubbing his head where the pillow hit him.
"Good morning to you too!" He said grumpily. This wasn't exactly how he pictured waking up with him would be like, but he can't say he didn't enjoy it all the same. Haruki pouted.
"You ass! Why did you sleep on the floor? If you were able to braid my hair and carry me to bed, you could have chosen the futon or the couch. If you get sick that's on you!" Akihiko ignored his usual Mothering nature and stood with a stretch, walking over to sit beside Haruki who climbed further up his bed, allowing him significant space.
"You said I could, so I did. Besides why did you let me have the bed you idiot? You could have kicked me out or at least joined me, I think it's big enough for both of us." He bounced slightly as if emphasizing his point that they could have shared the intimate space. Haruki was glad he had scurried over to his pillows with his knees covering his face, he was sure his blush was evidently spreading to his ears. Akihiko smiled seeing his embarrassment, deciding he would at least try for his fantasy if Haruki was too afraid to act on his own, and get their day started. He stood once more and walked towards the door, outstretching his hand to invite Haruki to follow him, which he hesitantly took. Akihiko's fingertips were always cold, he realized. A point he would have otherwise ignored had it not been for this BL manga his sister sent him to read.
"C'mon, Haru. Let's get breakfast started."
