Sharing Chapstick

Summary:

Reo shares some of his chapstick with Handa when he notices the other teen’s mouth is dry.

Work Text:

Perfect soft hair, perfect smooth skin with not even a single blemish to speak of, and even perfect grey eyes that couldn’t help but pierce your soul every time you looked at them with how striking they are. Honestly, it was no wonder the other girls at school had thought Handa was even more handsome than he was at this point, he was even starting to believe that himself now.

“I really don’t get why you’re so hung up on me,” Handa awkwardly spoke up and began to say, as he averted eye contact with the other teen who was currently boring into him at the moment, “I know my looks are nothing to make note of.”

He really didn’t get why the other teen was doing this all of a sudden, why he seemed so… suddenly fixed on him like this. I mean, Reo was an ex model wasn’t he? So shouldn’t he have an eye for people out of the ordinary? Like the type of person who had a signature look that could turn heads from a mile away?

To be honest he certainly wasn’t an extraordinary guy by any means, if anything he’d classify his looks as more ordinary than anything else with how generic they might’ve seemed, so he really didn’t understand why Reo seemed so focused on him to the point that he had silently stared at him for full couples minutes now without saying a single word.

Wait, this couldn’t have been the other teen’s way of making fun of him could it? Could Reo have been so impressed by how plain he was, since he had never seen anyone else that plain in his whole entire life before, and that’s why he was staring at him like this? Had he won the award for most boring man in his eyes?

He didn’t want to imagine that was the case, but the idea seemed more and more plausible as time silently stretched on and…

“Your looks are perfect,” Reo both suddenly and bluntly told him, in a way that nearly caused him to fall over on the spot with how caught off guard he was by the comment, “though you do have one problem you need to take care of.”

“Which is…?” Handa felt his heart unconsciously begin to race, when he felt the other boy suddenly and lightly brush one of his fingers across his mouth.

“You need some chapstick,” the other teen quickly answered him, “your lips are dry.”

“Wha-?” Handa found himself at a loss of words once more, when he saw Reo pull a stick of chapstick out of his pocket all of a sudden like it was nothing.

“It’s natural for anyone’s lips to start to dry out during the day, that’s why it is important to reapply this kind of stuff to your lips multiple times a day as needed,” Reo matter of factly continued to explain as he started to instinctively apply some of the chapstick to Handa’s mouth himself, “It’s the only way to make sure that your lips consistently stay soft.”

“T-Thanks, but you really didn’t need to do that,” Handa found himself instinctively covering his face with his arm to hide how flustered he was when Reo finally finished and pulled the chapstick away from him, “I really don’t mind dry lips all that much.”

Was that seriously something normal people did? Did normal people not only intimately brush other people’s lips to test for dry lips like that, but then they also personally applied the chapstick themselves onto the other person as well? It certainly didn’t feel like a normal thing people did, or at least it didn’t with how much his heart was racing because of it anyway.

“No way, there’s not a chance I’d ever let that happen over my dead body,” the brunet suddenly crossed his arms and said with a serious expression.

“Why not?! It’s not really that big of a deal is it?”

Reo was looking at him with a pretty tense look in his eyes right now, did what he just said offended him that much? Did he have a thing against people with dry mouths or something?

“It is a big deal! All these kinds of things are! Especially when…” Reo started to look off to the side and quietly mumble to himself, “They involve you.”

“Huh?” What was the other teen trying to get at, here? Why was he so concerned about him?

“You can keep it you know,” Reo ignored the other teen’s confused remark as he suddenly passed back something familiar in his hands to the Handa’s own ones, “You’ll need it in case your lips start to feel dry again.”

“Your chapstick? But it’s yours! What will you do if your  own mouth gets dry!”

There’s no way he could suddenly take something like this! The two of them barely knew each other, so he’d feel awful taking something important like this from Reo if he ended up really needing it down the line.

“I always keep a spare in my pocket, so it’s fine,” Reo assured the other teen and said, “Though if you’re just worried about the fact that you don’t know how to apply it yourself you can always ask me to show you how, or if you want, you can always just ask me to physically put the chapstick on you, myself again, if you prefer that way instead?”

The young calligrapher’s face burned bright pink at the last suggestion, “I can put it on by myself just fine!”

Reo had to be making fun of him with that last comment, it was the only explanation. There was no other way to interpret it right? I mean sure it could definitely be seen as a little flirty too, but Reo certainly wouldn’t flirt with him of all people right? I mean have you seen his reputation at school? No one would, so… it would be silly of him to even entertain an idea like that.
