Charlie had long ago accepted that he would never be truly loved.
No, there was no way anyone could love all of him. It was better off if he were to keep to himself, to be an island.
Then, Ben.
Ben didn't treat him well, nor did the boy seem to truly like him, but Charlie believed that was all he deserved anyhow.
Then, Nick.
Nick came along and disproved all those things that Charlie thought about himself.
Nick loved him. All of him.
No man is an island.
