Work Text:
Nina is sitting on the grass in a park. It was nice out, and she was tired of being cooped inside her house, so she asked Stu if he wanted to go to the park with her, to which he shrugged and followed her lead. Stu always followed wherever she went. It wasn't that he lacked being a leader, but moreso that he didn't want the responsibility of making decisions. He didn't want to deal with the consequences of those decisions if they were the wrong choice. Nina didn't mind this. She would shoulder whatever was thrown at them for both of them because where Stu lacked leadership, he made up for it in being her support system.
"What do you see in the clouds?"
Nina looked down at Stu, who was resting his head in her lap. It was easy to get herself lost in his pure white eyes. She brought a hand up and ran it through his blue hair, causing him to close his eyes and lean his head into the palm of her hand. Just by the look of Stu, you would never guess that he had been hard into the drug scene that went hand-in-hand with the music industry, but he weaned himself off it and put that part of himself behind him. "I don't want you findin' me dead in the restroom," he told her when she asked him why now.
He did it for her. Stu chose her.
"I see a cat."
Stu chuckled, "You always see a cat."
"Alright, I also see a piggy."
Stu whistled, "That's a new one. You think the cat an' pig live together?"
"Yeah. On a farm in the sky. They're friends."
Stu stared at Nina. From the way he was positioned, it looked as if the sun was glowing behind her. He used to never understand people who would make empty statements of, "I would catch a bomb for the one I love," and now that he does have somebody in his life, he still doesn't understand it. There would never be a moment when he would have to catch a bomb. That only happened in action movies (and honestly, it was very cliché). What he could offer Nina, though, was a semi-clean house while she worked (she deserved a spotless house, but she understood that his attention span got the best of him), her cats taken care of and played with while she worked, and an infinity of songs created by him for her. Nina wasn't perfect. Just like him, Nina was riddled with anxiety and depression to the point where some days she never got out of bed. He understood those moments clearly and would stay in bed with her. Stu would take her hand and lace their fingers together. They wouldn't talk to each other, but the sentiment was clear.
She didn't have to go through it by herself. She wasn't alone.
"You think they have other friends?" Nina asked.
"Lets give them some. Those smaller clouds could be birds."
"I like that. You know what else I like?"
"I dunno. Tell me."
Nina leaned down and kissed Stu's forehead, "You."
A smile grew on Stu's face as he let out an appreciative hum, "I like you too."
They were the world to each other.
