Interviewer: Never have I ever… Dated a professional athlete.
Rose: *laughing*
Rose: I have!
The other costars just laugh and shake their heads, except for Adrian Dela Cruz, who’s sitting there quietly, a blank expression on his face.
Adrian: I have! For like 2 years i dated NHL player- just like you, Rose. He was closeted at the time. We both were. He was miserable the whole time too- it’s very weird to see him now that he’s out.
Rose looks a little shocked

Well, considering he said that the player was out and he’s still on TV that Narrows it down to the current 4 players: Scott Hunter, Shane Hollander, Ilya Rosanov, & Troy Barrett (1/4)

Timeline wise I think the only one we can rule out is Scott Hunter. Him and His partner have been together since around 2014 from what we know from interviews, and although it’s not that big of a deal for celebrities, They lived in entirely different countries. (2/4)

So it’s narrowed down to a Cens player. The other person we can rule out is Rozanov as up until 2017 (when Hollanov is presumed to have started dating) he was seen with many women, and he lived in Boston which makes it unlikely they were together. (3/4)

This really just narrows it down to Troy Barrett and Shane Hollander. Barrett did live in Toronto until 2018 which would make him the easiest person, but given that they were closeted and both travelled a lot for work Shane would also make sense considering they probably already didn’t see each other often- also considering Rose Landry and Adrian have worked together she was maybe a beard?

Reporter: Shane, there’s been rumours circulating about a member of your team possibly having had a relationship with Adrian Dela Cruz, would you like to comment?
Shane [visibly annoyed by the question]: Any rumours circulating have not affected our play. Players are entitled to privacy outside of hockey, so can we please get a hockey related question.
Reporter: How are you sure that your hockey hasn’t been affected by rumours, given that since they dropped the team’s goal rate has gone down?
Shane: We just won a game. The goal rates gone down because we’ve been facing better goalies than we were earlier this season- that has nothing to do with anything off ice.

Reporter: Would you like to make a comment about the recent rumours that have been circulating about Adrian Dela Cruz, and how that may have affected your play.
Troy: This is ridiculous. You don’t ask straight players about rumoured relationships from years ago and how that affected play. Not that it’s the media’s business but I’ve been with my partner for almost 3 years now, I’m very happy and secure in my relationship. Twitter rumours have not and would not affect my play in any way.
Reporter: With all due respect Mr Barrett, the Rumours have come directly from Mr Dela Cruz himself- they aren’t just Twitter conspiracy, this coming directly from the man himself who claims to have dated an NHL star, which is why me and my colleagues here are seeking insight.
Troy Barrett: I don’t owe anyone any insight into my private life and neither does any other player on the ice. My game on the ice has remained the same, My attitude towards the game hasn’t changed. I’m here to play good hockey- does anyone have any hockey questions?

Reporter: Rozanov- There’s been increasing rumours about a famous actor having had a past fling within the NHL. The rumours have gotten quite intense recently- are they having any effect on your or your teams gameplay?
Rozanov: Does it look like my teams gameplay has been affected?
Reporter: Well- uh- the Centaurs goal per game rate has decreased since the rumours started…
Rozanov [Shrugging]: We still won game, yes? Our game is fine. Next question.

Reporter: Mr Hunter, there’s been a lot of talk online lately about Adrian Dela Cruz’s comments saying that he was in a relationship with a closeted- and now out, NHL player. Given that you were the first out NHL player I wondered if you had any insight.
Scott Hunter: That question has nothing to do with Hockey and is extremely unprofessional, But I will answer because I have a feeling it will be a common one tonight. NHL fans have no right to player’s personal lives- straight or queer. If it had been an actress who said she had dated an NHL star there may have been online chatter but it wouldn’t have ever made it up to official press conferences. Stop harassing queer players for their past relationship history. I don’t owe you that, Troy Barrett doesn’t owe you that, Shane and Ilya definitely don’t owe you that. We’re here to play hockey, not to give you gossip headlines and sound bites.
