It's 2016. Scott Hunter is in his rookie year with the New York Admirals and at first glance his life is going great. He’s a generational talent slated to be Captain, a cinch for Rookie of the Year, and has just been named an MLH All-Star. Unfortunately, he’s also a closeted gay orphan with no swag, no bitches, and no friends.
But it’s fine. Scott just has to keep this one measly secret for another twenty or so years, and then he can retire and get a hot boyfriend and finally live his life as his true authentic self — whatever that means. Everything is going to be just fine.
Or: in which we are forced to contend with the hard hitting question of "what if Scott Hunter wasn’t old but Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander were?" and also "haha wouldn’t it be great if everybody was about 50% more Canadian?"

This private, half-acknowledged dream of his, to fall in love, to have a husband, to build a home, to have and to hold, in sickness and health — was that really such a pipe dream? In ten years, was this where he would end up? Like Hollander, nervously knocking on his lover’s door, knowing there was always a chance he could be seen, knowing that he was doing something conceivably life-ruining, and yet doing it anyways, because it was the most either of them would ever be able to get — was that all Scott could ever hope for? Was all of this just the best he would ever get?
