Hirano’s hands played with the handwarmers in his pockets waiting for his puppy-like boyfriend at the train station. After graduation he hadn’t seen much of his former classmates, so when Hanzawa reminded him of the class reunion he didn’t have much choice but to attend, however since they were now of drinking age, the majority of them voted to make it a party instead, allowing for some of them to invite their partners or close friends outside of class which is why he invited his boyfriend, Kagiura.
Three days ago
Originally Hirano hadn’t planned to invite him, so that he could show up, say hi, maybe catch up with a couple of people and then leave, however when he told Kagi about the party he was expecting his regular pout and a little attitude, instead of that he lowered his gaze and said quietly “Will Sasaki-san be there?” which honestly took the blonde by surprise, it had been a while since Kagi brought him up so he thought he was over his jealousy, but it seems it was still in his mind.
A little annoyed he answered “yes, he will be there, he was in my class too but…” he stopped himself for a moment, he didn’t know if Sasaki and Miyano were telling people about their relationship, not like Kagi would mind that but it was not his secret to tell so instead he just sighed and said calmly “it’s not like that with him Akira, trust me he has absolutely no interest in me, and I sure as hell do not see HIM that way.” Rolling his eyes at that last part.
Kagiura then pouted, crossed his arms and said “Of course I trust YOU Taiga, but I don’t know him, I don’t know if I can trust HIM.”
Hirano looked at him with a deadpanned face and said “yeah, whose fault is that again?”
Which prompted another pout from the basketball player, which Hirano couldn’t help but chuckle at, he really liked those cute pouts Kagiura made when he knew he was losing the argument.
“Also” said Kagiura interrupting his thoughts “maybe he likes you and you haven’t even noticed, I mean you can REALLY be dense sometimes Taiga.”
“Oi !” replied Hirano angrily smacking Kagi’s arm “I’m not dense” then he calmed down a bit and said seriously “look, everyone who knows Sasaki Shumei knows that, that guy wears his emotions in his face like a freaking emoticon” then he rolled his eyes a bit remembering his personality changes with Miyano compared to other people “so when he likes someone, absolutely everyone around him can tell, he has no shame at all.”
“Yeah, I find that hard to believe” replied Kagiura side eyeing Hirano “he doesn’t look like the type of person to show much emotions, which is why I think he could like you and you wouldn’t notice.” He stated firmly.
“You know what?” Said a very exasperated Hirano “come to the party with me, and talk to him yourself, see if you notice his supposed interest in me that I am too fucking dense to see, but I refuse to spend more time of our date discussing freaking Sasaki.”
“Ok” said a very cheery Kagiura “I’ll be your date to the party.”
Hirano pondered on that mood change, was that his plan all along? To get invited to the party with him? Whatever, he took out his phone while his boyfriend went to the bathroom and texted Sasaki.
H: “Hey, is Miyano going to Friday’s party?”
S: “Yeah, he’s making me go, so in exchange he’s going with me”
S: “Why?”
H: “Kagi is going too.”
S: “Roomate-kun? Gotcha I’ll try to keep Miya away.”
H: “Actually, I kind of need to run into you guys.”
S: “Typing”
S: “Typing”
S: “Yeah, I’m not controlling Miya’s reaction to that.”
H: “I’m counting on it actually.”
S: “Do I want to know what you are up to?”
H: “Just follow my lead carrot-head.”
S: “Oi!”
Back to the present
Hirano noticed his tall boyfriend running towards him and waving “Hirano-San!” he yelled in the distance; he laughed at how cute he looked and thought that maybe the party wouldn’t be so bad if Kagi was with him.
When Kagiura finally caught up to him, Hirano offered him a hand-warmer since the day was particularly cold, to which he replied “I’d rather hold your hand Taiga” Which prompted a blush on the older boyfriend’s face and he scolded him by saying “I told you not in public.”
This caused another pout on the tall boyfriend’s face, to which Hirano chuckled and told him “let’s go, Hanzawa is already asking me when am I getting there.” Then he paused and checked his phone “Just give me a second I’ll tell him we’re on our way” after this the two walked towards the party while chatting about everything and nothing at the same time.
At the party Hirano subtly scanned the room, greeting some people as they passed near him, and he noticed some of them were already quite drunk, which made him rethink if this was a good idea, just as he was reconsidering some of his life decisions he spotted the orange-haired person he was searching for and grabbed his boyfriend so he wouldn’t get lost in the crowd while they walked towards him.
“Hey Sasaki!” said the blonde.
“Yo!” Sasaki greeted back nonchalantly.
Then Hirano asked “So where is…?”
Sasaki interrupted him with a “He went to get some drinks, will be back in a bit.” Then he turned to look at Kagiura and said, “so this is the famous roommate-kun, nice to meet you.”
An annoyed Hirano replied, “Don’t call him that, his name is Kagiura.”
“Hello Sasaki-san” said Kagiura uncomfortably.
Holding a chuckle Sasaki replied “Well, someone’s quite formal.”
Hirano replied with a “well you see, Kagi here” points at him “is under the impression you have feelings for me.”
Noticing the amused look on his friend’s face Sasaki decided to jokingly play along with a “Oh, I see, well it seems I’ve been found out” he said with a chuckle and a cheeky smile “no point in hiding it anymore Hirano, he noticed my burning love for you.”
Kagiura tensed up at that statement and Hirano continued to tease his boyfriend with a “You love me?” He said almost laughing “You see I AM TOO dense to notice, because you are SO subtle with your love displays” he replied sarcastically.
Kagiura got red from embarrassment at them making fun of him.
In the meantime, between laughter and jokes none of the three noticed the small raven-haired guy approaching them and they definitely did not notice the murderous stare aimed at the two older men laughing at the pouting embarrassed guy near them.
“You know Sasaki” said Hirano still laughing “now that I know of your all-consuming love” Sasaki laughed harder at that “I should totally leave Kagi for you now.” This prompted an annoyed face from Kagiura who was too embarrassed to say anything.
“OVER MY DEAD BODY!” suddenly a loud voice startled the three of them (and slightly scared some people nearby who quickly went by to their own shenanigans).
“Miya! You’re back!” Said Sasaki with his signature smile reserved for only his boyfriend, then he noticed the two crushed red cups in his hands and he turned to Hirano with a slightly scared face but still somewhat amused.
“What… The… HELL is Hirano talking about?” he asked the orange-haired boy “you are in love with ME.”
Gosh did Sasaki love when Miyano got possessive, it made it worth it going along with Hirano’s crazy scheme to show Kagiura who Sasaki was really in love with, sure his boyfriend’s sudden lack on inhibition was also slightly fueled by the couple of drinks he’d allowed him to have while waiting for the other pair, while Sasaki had remained sober to care for him just in case.
With a sweet smile in his face Sasaki replied “Sorry Miya we were just joking, we wanted to show Hirano’s boyfriend” he emphasized on that last word to see Miyano’s reaction “that even the notion of me having feelings for Hirano is absurd.”
Hirano was still in shock, he had heard from Hanzawa that he was sure Miyano was the jealous kind, and he’d seen the scene that unfolded with the kiss in the cheek incident, but he was NOT expecting this big of a reaction from his often shy and calm kouhai.
Kagiura was also in shock, not by Miyano’s reaction, he didn’t know the guy so he had no clue what his personality was like, but by the way Sasaki’s face practically glowed when he saw him, it was like starring into the sun, also the way his smiled never left his face even when being scolded by the small guy, he thought to himself “I guess Taiga was right, that guys IS quite shameless when he likes someone.”
With a frustrated face Miyano mumbled “why am I being dragged into this BL-ish scenario?”
“I thought you loved BL” responded Hirano nonchalantly “this was almost like a gift to you.”
“Shut up boyfriend stealer” replied a still angry Miyano “And I like to READ BL” then he mumbled “and sometimes ship it” then raised his voice again “But I DON’T want BL scenarios happen to ME in real life.”
“Boyfriend… steal… what? I don’t want your idiot boyfriend Miyano!” replied an irritated Hirano.
At this point it was Kagiura the one laughing and saying “I’m sorry Miyano... is it? I must have given you the worst first impression, I am Taiga’s boyfriend, I had no idea Sasaki-san was dating someone, sorry to cause this misunderstanding due to my jealousy.”
“It’s ok, euh…” mumbled Miyano.
“Kagiura! Akira Kagiura” replied the puppy-like boy.
“It’s ok Kagiura, it’s these guys fault by making dumb jokes” he rolled his eyes.
“You know Miya” Said Sasaki with a grin “you should only blame me for this mess, and then you should toootally punish me for it.” He said in a suggestive tone.
“Truly shameless” thought both Hirano and Kagiura.
“Eugh, I’m also mad that because of your prank I couldn’t even enjoy meeting Hirano’s boyfriend” Miyano pouted.
“WE COULD GO ON A DOUBLE DATE!” replied Kagiura enthusiastically.
Before Hirano could protest at the idea Sasaki interjected “Great! We’re both free this Sunday and I just know Hirano will want to make it up to poor Miya for his cruel prank.”
Hirano groaned “Eugh, I hate you both” he rolled his eyes and continued “Miyano you’ll have a 5-question limit on that day, I am not answering more than that.” Then he looked at Sasaki “and he better be sober this time, don’t think I didn’t notice.”
Sasaki just flashed his most fake-innocent smile.
“Mmkay, thanks” mumbled Miyano as he started to melt into his partner’s arms “but you better not try to steal my boyfriend again, he is MINE Hirano, you have your own.”
Sasaki was on cloud nine, holding his boyfriend up and stroking his hair “No one could ever steal me from you my sweet Yoshikazu, my heart completely belongs to you.”
Kagiura blushed at the sight in front of him, then he turned to Hirano and said, “no one could steal me from you either Taiga, even if someone else declared his love for you, I have faith in you.”
Hirano blushed and groaned before he smiled again and said, “what do you say we finish greeting people, let the host know we came by and go to the park near the dorms so can have a walk together.”
“I love that idea, Taiga.” Replied his boyfriend with a soft smile.
They waved goodbye to the other couple as they were getting much too cheesy to handle and off they went.
Bonus:
On the date Miyano had a list ready for his questions, they were as follows:
- Who said “I love you” first?
- Was it hard being roommates while having feelings for each other?
- Does Hirano’s ringtone for Kagiura have a meaning?
- How long have they been dating?
- Is Hirano the uke?
That last one earned him a punch from Hirano that Sasaki took in his place while he laughed like crazy.
