Summary
Magic has been outlawed by the Nijikus for fifty years now, and Jabber, a mage, has been living in one of their strange, abandoned properties, a tower with a single entrance at the very top and no stairs or ladder to reach it. He'd been using it as a lab and home for years until the lost third prince of the Nijikus appeared and had already moved in.
Now Zodyl, master of Jabber's underground mage guild, has ordered Jabber to stay with the prince and gather information on a fallen angel rumored to be guarded by an organization, The Cleaners, who had kidnapped the prince four years earlier.
As Jabber gets to know this prince, less makes sense.
Why is he trapped in this tower?
Why doesn't he question Jabber on his notes or research?
Why does he stare so longingly at the ground?
