    Ayda walked up behind Farai, rubbing her shoulders without saying anything, and at least Farai wasn’t so lost in thought that she ignored it. She didn’t say anything, but she rested her hands atop Ayda’s as they moved toward her neck. She was staring in the mirror again, and Ayda was getting used to waiting longer than usual for words. 

    “I thought it would be faster than this,” Farai said. Murmured, really, but Ayda had expected something along these lines, and caught it. “It seems faster in everyone else.” 

    “And to everyone else, you’re changing astonishingly fast,” Ayda said, giving Farai a kiss on the cheek that caused a slight laugh at the tickle.
