Shit.
Shit shit shit shit shit shit shit.
Y'know…maybe those shitty advertisements were onto something with the whole don't-drive-after-drinking thing.
…But it wasn't Benny's fault that he couldn’t see the creepy guy crossing the road until a puff of platinum hair came into view...and until the guy was promptly run over by his car.
What a weirdo, walking around in the middle of the night in all-black clothes.
A weirdo that might be dead.
Fuck.
He really should have thought things through. He generally didn’t, of course. And he certainly didn’t this time.
Benny stumbled out of his car, squinting through the darkness at the figure, laying crumpled on their side.
Where did this guy even come from? A gothic concert? He literally just…appeared in front of Benny’s car! It literally wasn’t his fault he hit him.
…Right?
With a clumsy effort, Benny crouched down beside the guy, poking him absent-mindedly.
He didn’t seem…conscious.
Well. Duh.
Shit, what a time to not have a phone!
…Not like he was in his right mind to call an ambulance if he had one.
Hell, that would be a terrible idea anyways, considering Benny would have to explain that he drunkenly drove and hit someone.
To top it all off — he didn’t even have a license!
With a nervous laugh, Benny shrugged. Well, looked like he couldn’t do anything about…this. Benny had to go. He couldn’t just stay here and wait around for the weirdo to come to his senses.
The guy would be fine. Yep. He could probably just walk it off—
Before he could stand up and walk back to his car, a bony hand gripped his arm, causing Benny to yelp, his sunglasses almost falling from his face. (And yes — he wore sunglasses in the dead of the night.)
Benny looked down with confusion at the hand wrapped around his arm. The weirdo’s arm.
What the hell? Was this guy a zombie? Did he hit a fucking zombie?
His grip was tight for a zombie. Did zombies generally have tight grips? Benny stared blankly, his body not feeling the urgent need to move and pull away from the grip.
Probably the alcohol.
The weirdo opened his eyes before Benny could try to flee, staring through his soul with a wide grin.
“Running away?”
Benny startled back, gasping, his surroundings quickly becoming a blurry mess of darkness and his head trying to wrap itself around whatever the fuck was happening right now. He should really start listening to those advertisements warning people about drunk driving.
But hey! Maybe he was purely imagining being grabbed by a guy who was unconscious only moments ago.
Some guy gets hit by a car… and then seems perfectly fine right after? Yeah, right. Maybe Benny was high as well as drunk.
“What the fuck?” Benny managed to say. He considered for a moment whether he should run for it, or stick around to listen to the goth zombie’s response.
The stranger chuckled, sitting up with only minor struggle. Benny didn’t imagine that it was natural for someone to do that after getting hit by a car.
Well, at the very least, it seemed the guy’s face was grazed. So…he wasn’t entirely invincible. Maybe he was even a real person.
Though it was a shame that pretty face got marked up.
The man carefully stood, wincing as he took a rigid first step.
Perhaps he was more like a skeleton than a zombie.
A hot skeleton.
After a few steps the guy seemed to be walking perfectly fine — to Benny’s dismay.
And, alright...Benny did say that the guy would probably be fine after walking it off…
But he wasn’t serious about it! Did he manifest it? Oh god, what if the guy was a vengeful ghost coming to kill him for his drunk driving sins?
“Jesus, you’re wasted as hell.” The figure scoffed in mockery, to Benny's alarm.
Benny raised a brow, leaning against his car in an attempt to seem relaxed. When he was really anything but relaxed.
"Yeah? What makes you say that smartass?”
"I don’t know. Maybe the bottle of vodka sitting by your car window.” He paused. “Or maybe ‘cause you hit me with that fucking car to begin with.”
"You’re wearing all-black clothes in the middle of the night! You were practically askin' to get hit, darling. I wasn't just gonna wait around for you to slowly haul your slow ass across the road.” Benny blurted out, huffing as he pushed his sunglasses back over his eyes. He couldn’t see shit.
The stranger laughed, striding towards him quickly and leaning forward.
"So you just go around hitting pedestrians with your car without stopping to call an ambulance? What? Afraid to get caught driving without a license?”
"You’ve got no proof of that, dear.” Benny rolled his eyes.
The man shrugged non-committedly, casually looking through Benny’s wallet.
Wait. Beny’s wallet?
Benny came to his senses, much too slowly, and shoved his hands into his pockets to grab his wallet. It wasn’t there.
"Hm. Bet you stole this car.” He remarked with a glance to the awfully expensive car, pocketing some cash from the wallet as if its owner wasn’t standing right in front of him.
Benny frantically continued to pat himself down, convinced his wallet was just...hiding somewhere. It wasn’t.
Shiiiit.
Benny hadn’t noticed a thing. When did this guy even take it?
Well, perhaps it was an easy steal with Benny’s current state.
“So, Benny— "
"Give that back, you little thief!” Benny snapped, snatching the wallet from the stranger’s hands, albeit his reaction time was ridiculously slow for someone usually so quick.
It seemed the stranger already got what he wanted, though. He smiled lazily, leaning against Benny’s car.
Well, it wasn’t his car. Technically. But hey, finders keepers!
Benny scowled, crossing his arms and gazing at the man expectantly as he shoved his wallet back in his pocket.
“The cash you took?” He prompted. His words may or may not have been slurred.
"Oh, I think this is appropriate compensation for hitting me with the car.”
“Compensation? For what damage?” Benny said incredulously. He looked perfectly fine.
“You could’ve killed me.” He claimed.
Benny scowled, glaring the man down. “What were you even doing? Taking a nice little walk in the middle of the night?”
"Oh, no, I was just waiting for a drunk bastard to run me over with his car.” He remarked, looking Benny up and down.
Benny clenched his jaw. He muttered to himself as he tapped his feet against the ground in quick beats.
He eventually considered jumping the guy to get his money back.
In fact, he decided not to think about any longer.
He did it without further reconsideration, lunging forward to grasp the little thief.
He really needed that money.
The man was clearly caught off guard. He stumbled backwards, thick platformed boots slapping against concrete. He attempted to wrestle Benny’s arms off of him with rigour, matching his strength and rhythm. The two ended up stumbling down towards the sidewalk, Benny almost falling on his face while the thief effortlessly stepped up and continued to push and shove.
"Hey— Hey! Jesus. It’s 50 bucks, gorgeous. No need to be all over me for some cash.”
Benny snarled. "Then give it back!”
"Nuh uh.” The man smiled, shoving Benny back onto the road.
"What the hell dude?” Benny said. He grabbed onto one of the man’s arms, sloppily continuing to push the guy and fight for his glorious 50 bucks — to no avail.
The stranger grunted, sharply pulling his arm out of Benny’s grip.
"Fine! Fine, since you’re so desperate.” He rolled his eyes, muttering soft words Benny couldn’t quite process.
He slowly pulled the cash from his pocket, holding it before him for Benny to reach.
Before he could grab it, the little bitch retracted his hand, holding the note up high.
" —but only if you give me half."
"Half of what? The note? You wanna tear the note?”
"No. Half the amount of money.”
"Where the hell do you suppose I pull 25 dollars? Out my ass?" Benny spat, his fingers finding the sleeve of his jacket to fiddle with. And arguably, it was probably stupid to just be carrying around a single 50 dollar note, but he didn't exactly have anything else.
"Well, find a way to get that money, querida." The man smiled slowly. Benny began to find it infuriating.
"Who even are you, huh?" He demanded.
"Bones." Bones replied tersely.
"Who the fuck names their kid Bones? D'your parents hate you?"
Bones rolled his eyes, "not my birth name."
"Whatever, man. I'm still not splittin' the cash. It's just 25 bucks." Benny shrugged.
"Big claim for a man who just jumped me for 50."
"Whatever! I'm not 'compensating' you for hitting you with my car! You look fine."
"Oh, I look more than fine."
Fucking annoying.
Benny huffed, eyeing the cash in Bones' hand. He probably didn't need it that much, right? He'd probably end up spending it on shitty vodka anyways...
Yeah, he definitely needed that cash.
"Jesus, just—" Benny groaned, "What do you want?"
"25 bucks?"
"No.”
Bones chuckled, approaching Benny much too slowly, and now Benny was really regretting drinking. His head felt like a damned spinning carousel, while the smug asshole was there having fun toying with him.
"Then…you can give me something else."
"...Like?"
Bones shrugged. "Oh, I thought you'd tell me." They said sarcastically, placing a hand on the car and leaning in to where Benny stood.
Were they...trapping him?
Benny instinctively moved a hand to the man's shoulder, tilting his head. "What the hell do you want?” He demanded once again, but the heat in the words was extinguished by his slurred tone. It wasn’t helping that they were so close to his face.
Bones laughed softly, bringing his gaze over Benny’s body. He said nothing more.
They practically towered over Benny, though Benny was pretty convinced it was simply because of those tall platform boots the guy was wearing. But it was hard to tell with all his senses being in a tangled mess due to the shitty vodka he downed.
Benny rolled his eyes, inching closer to meet the man’s eyes at an unnecessarily short distance.
“Just say it.”
Neither of them had to say anything. Lips crashed together and Benny quickly eased into it. He shut his eyes, but it hardly made a difference, as the streets were just as dark.
Benny’s heartbeat echoed across the walls if his body body, tingles running along his back. The kiss was anything but gentle, and he harshly pulled Bones closer to himself, their skin gently brushing against Benny’s. It was almost intimate, but considering the circumstances the moment was desperate and impulsive.
The kiss grew deeper, and Benny was shoved up against his car, unable to contain a muffled grunt as Bones tangled a hand into his hair.
Their lips were soft against his own. As Bones pulled away for the briefest moment, Benny was exposed to the cold wind of winter, and he found himself desiring more.
He pulled the man in for another kiss, gripping his neck and squeezing his eyes shut as he did so out of pure, drunken desperation. A soft vibration ran against his lips as Bones chuckled, their hands finding Benny’s waist. He was growing increasingly hot despite the biting cold surrounding them.
Finally, Benny pulled away, panting short, gasping breaths as if he had just learnt to breathe again.
Bones smirked, stepping back and raising his head way too arrogantly. His styled up hair drooped, almost falling in his face. Benny took a deep breath, closing his tired eyes.
Before Benny could say anymore, Bones was out of sight.
Sneaky little—
“Thanks for the 50 bucks, querida.”
He heard the man’s disembodied voice from where he stood. Benny searched for the source but found himself looking stupid as he almost tripped from his sudden movements. He groaned as he shoved a hand into his pocket to find his still empty wallet.
Fuck. He really shouldn’t have hit them with his car.
