They frown, hand hovering over the first aid kit. It's the only thing that they think would be all that useful. But they don't get a chance to decide before a noise echoes from the vent, and Vega yelps in surprise. The noise snorts.
Bones unfurls himself from the vent with far more grace than Vega could have, raising himself just above her line of sight. Having to look up to meet his gaze feels familiarly debasing, preemptively ruining her mood for the interaction. He fixes them with an amused look that immediately has them on edge—she's used to being underestimated or undermined, but that's in her work and her social life. Scoffed at for being an astronomer and given those sideways glances when they say something just a bit too loud or too blunt. Being looked at like that here, that familiar derision in a game where being underestimated could easily become death, makes her stomach churn.
“I didn't think someone so uptight would find their way in here with me,” Bones says, eyes observing the room. “Breaking and entering is a crime, you know?”

Another crash. Another scene. Another time they were leaving in a hurry, running both from the police and the medics, for some reason. Another set of broken bones, all because Benny didn't know (didn't want to know) better.
Eddie felt like puking as he tried to insert back the bone into the idiot's right forearm, because apparently it wasn't okay for him to smoke when he was tired and needed a lift, but it was completely fine for Benny to be suicidal just because he didn't feel like continuing to exist today. Funny how the world worked.
He heard another hiss, a sharp cry, and felt the tug, but he didn't let up from his - now almost bruising - grip he had on the boy. If the idiot decided he didn't need to see a doctor, then they were dealing with this the hard way.
He chanced a peak at his companion's face and- okay, yea, bad idea. Reeeally bad.

He put on a lazy grin as he stood up, balancing on the edge, two wrong moves away from death. At least that gave him some kind of adrenalin kick, if nothing today did.
He was about to start climbing, when heard a rather heavy sounding mass landing next to himself, cursing loudly in that annoying ass boyish voice he knew all too well. Damn. He shouldn't have wished for things to go south that badly, he guessed, as he looked back and found the redhead rubbing his left knee looking about ready to cry.

Rook presses her lips together, arms firm behind her back and gloved fingers interlocked. She stands, stiff as a board in the far side of the room, observant. Only its eyes move, a golden yellow that travels across the room with one specific subject in its headlights.
Cecilia travels through the room as if she walks on air. It’s aided by her feathered clothing, which follows her movements, angelic and ethereal. She’s speaking to the other contestants, at the moment, a tiny quirk at the sides of her lips that entices Rook like nothing else. There is something magnetic about her. Its fingers tighten until its nails can bite its palms, even though its gloves, as Rook forcibly tears her gaze away.
She is not Rook’s to observe. She is not Rook’s to rein in. She is free as a bird, flitting throughout the room, speaking to people like second nature. Rook is not blessed like that. She stands in the corner and waits for someone to approach, and hopes, more than anything, that heels will click and sparkling blue eyes will meet her own with intrigue.
