Summary
Two years ago, the apocalypse began. Two years ago was the date the virus, a new strain of rabies, was first diagnosed in a human patient.
Today is the day humanity escapes. They pile into rockets around the world, lifting off into space in search of a new planet to support life.
But this will not be the story of the fortunate, those able to build a new life and forget their old world.
No, this will be the story of those left behind. Most of them already infected, a ticking timer already above their hearts. Some, though, less than 1% of the remaining population, are healthy. But they were left to die.
And yet.
People are remarkably resilient.
