Work Text:
“Young Master. Are you here to attend the alliance discussion with the Favonius Knights?”
“Ah… Mr. Flins.”
Illuga turned around, looking at Flins, who was standing behind him. He had a dejected look on his face as he continued searching around Pirimida. But he seemed not to see anything he was looking for, disappointment radiating from his body.
“I’m actually looking for Aedon. He suddenly flew away, and I still haven’t found him.”
“Aedon? Flying away? How interesting. Perhaps the messenger simply wishes for a bit of Monstadt’s wind. Getting some free air wouldn’t hurt.”
“Eh? Monstadt’s wind?”
Somewhat perplexed by Flins’ eloquent wording, Illuga tilted his head. Why would Aedon want to go to Monstadt?
“Of course, nothing beats a bit of the wind of freedom!”
A loud, boisterous laugh sounded behind the two Light Keepers, making them turn to the new person.
“Oh? My dear friend. What brings you here?”
Flins crossed his arms, smiling as he looked at Varka, who had just appeared. Behind him was Lohen, who was trailing behind him. A pensive look was glued onto his face as he continued looking at his shoulder.
He then noticed something, chuckling as he looked towards Illuga.
“Oh, won’t you look at that. It seems we now know where your messenger bird went, Young Master.”
Illuga hastily turned towards Lohen at Flins’ words. Just as he was about to speak up, he stopped in his tracks the moment he saw the young man across from him lift his head. For a moment, his heart stopped beating when their eyes met.
This was the young man whom Aedon stuck to… What a beautiful sight.
“Oh, is this your bird?”
Lohen spoke, holding out the golden nightingale in his hands, snapping Illuga out of a daze. He handed it over to him, expecting it to fly back to its owner. But to his surprise, it refused to go back—stubbornly staying on his hand.
“...”
He tilted his head in confusion, looking at Illuga, who wasn’t responding at all. At that moment, Flins and Varka laughed at the current situation. Both the young men turned to them, who were chuckling.
“It seems that both Aedon and Illuga have the same feelings.”
“Mr. Flins! What are you saying?”
Illuga, flustered, hastily took Aedon and fled the embarrassing scene he made of himself. Lohen, who was left with his hand out, looked down, opening and closing his hand—a complex feeling blooming within him—as his gaze locked into the direction that Illuga fled to.
“Alright, Lohen. Why don’t you wait outside while I discuss some things with the Light Keepers?”
“Fine, fine. Go catch up with your dearest friend, I’ll just wander around. Hopefully, I encounter a few of the wild hunts in the vicinity.”
Lohen waved his hand, shooing the two men off before walking off. It took him some time before he made it below the mountain. A group of the wild hunts was stationed near the shore, dyeing the spot they were on a grotesque black and pink color. Their movements were slow, making him second-guess his choice.
But if such enemies were so slow, seemingly not a threat, why would they need to go on this mission?
Without hesitation, Lohen finally launched himself into battle. Upon sensing his arrival, the wild hunts nearby immediately walked towards him. At first, the fight seemed boring, but when he noticed that the enemies had some momentary bursts of power and could teleport, things got much more exciting than he thought.
A laugh escaped his throat as he hacked another enemy to die with his polearm—creating a rather striking sight compared to his appearance.
The fight ended within half an hour. All of the bodies Lohen had originally slayed disintegrated into abyssal energy particles. Without any abyssal energy leaking out, the place was now back to normal, though some places remained tainted by the energy.
“Hmm? What’s this?”
Lohen looked down at the thick black bandage lying on a nearby rock. Compared to the rest of the wild hunts, this piece of bandage contained much more condensed abyssal energy.
‘I wonder why?’
Was this related to their expedition?
“Hey, watch out!”
Lohen turned around on cue, meeting face to face with the wild hunt that teleported from behind him. Earlier, he assumed all of the enemies were slain, since he felt no presence—but now it was right behind him? Where did it come from?
The spear in his hand spun around, colliding with the wild hunt’s claws before directly stabbing into its head multiple times. He then looked from behind the monster, spotting Illuga, who was running towards him.
Shhaa…
Abyssal energy convulsed in the air, then dissipated as if it never existed.
“Wait, you’re… Illuga, right?”
He looked at Illuga, examining his physique. Memories of Varka’s random rambling came into play when he remembered what was said about him. Then it clicked for him; it was the same man he had met earlier, the one whose bird stuck to him.
“Huh? Yes, that’s me-”
“I actually heard a lot about you from the Grandmaster. My name is Lohen—the Vice Captain of the 5th Company. You are the Squad Leader of the Night Orioles, right? I heard a lot about your faction—it’s a pleasure to meet you in real life. Tell me more about Nod Krai; is it cold? Is it warm? I also see you wield a polearm like me. Don’t you think we have a lot in common, Captain Illuga? Oh! Actually, why don’t we spar? I heard that you are fairly strong when dealing with the wild hunt—it’d be a shame not to see it in real time myself.”
Lohen spoke in one breath, rendering Illuga speechless. His hands clasped around Illuga’s, showing an excited smile.
As Illuga looked into those sparkling eyes, he felt his face burn up—whether in embarrassment or something else, he fully knew how he felt about the other person.
“Ah.. Um… Why don’t we talk about it when we get back? You have some injuries on you; leaving them out will only do you wrong.”
“Huh. Well, alright.”
Lohen looked down at his hands and body—his face devoid of any emotion, but carrying the natural blush of excitement and adrenaline—a beautiful sight for anyone with a natural admiration for good-looking people. As Illuga said, there were indeed some bruises and cuts he got from the wild hunt, but it was mostly because he wanted to get injured. But he didn’t expect Illuga to care so much about some minor bruises.
The two of them made it back to the Light Keepers' base silently. Mainly, it was Illuga staying silent, afraid of embarrassing himself in front of his crush—Lohen was finally chatting with him incessantly, unlike the first time they met, as if he were just injected with a whole liter of chicken blood. It was a stark contrast to his aloof look when they first met. But seeing it was rude not to reply, Illuga still made attempts to talk with the young Vice Captain, while trying to minimize the amount of heat rushing towards his face.
As soon as they entered Pirimida, multiple knights and light keepers turned to them. Besides the Grand Master and Flins, the ever-so-elusive Light Keeper, only the Vice Captain of the 5th Company and the Captain of the Night Orioles were the most noteworthy ones. These two carried a title of both fame and responsibility, also a bit of admiration.
More importantly, the two of them were chatting together like the best buddies.
It took Illuga some time, but he felt that they had somewhat gotten closer than before. Even if it was only because of his physical prowess, it was at least something.
“Young Master, there you are. Were you going around searching for Vice Captain Lohen? Did Aedon perhaps fly to him again?”
With a bit of an amused tone, Flins chuckled. He looked at both of them, a smile playing on his lips. Though it seemed like an innocent question, Illuga knew well that he was being teased terribly by the eloquent man. Just the subtle and chuckling voice was enough to send him into a spiral of embarrassment and multiple emotions mixed together. It was even in public, making things worse than they should’ve been!
“No… T-that’s not it. I got a report about the wild hunt roaming around, so I went to check it out!”
Despite knowing the teasing gesture, Illuga still hurriedly explained himself. If it were just Flins, maybe he would’ve been fine, but the looks from both the Lightkeepers and Knights of Favonius made him feel more conscious about his surroundings than he should've.. Was it because of Lohen standing next to him?
Illuga’s eyes wavered, landing on both Flins and Lohen—trying to find an escape route, it was then that he remembered why he was here.
“Oh, right! Captain Lohen got injured while fighting. Even if it isn’t serious, we can’t let it get infected.”
Before Lohen could react, he was dragged by Illuga to a nearby medic. Momentarily, his eyes fell into a daze as he looked at the hand holding his.
How strange. How did Illuga drag him along without him sensing anything? Was something wrong with him, or was the Night Oriole’s Captain this strong?
He pondered it for a few seconds, then stopped.
It didn’t matter; they were going to spar soon anyway, right? Then he could see how strong Illuga is.
As soon as they entered the room, Lohen sat down on a nearby chair while Illuga went searching for medicinal ointments or oils to use. Because it was the Wild Hunt they were fighting, medics were always loaded in case of injury. It didn’t matter how small it was because it was abyssal energy.
Illuga finally came back after a few minutes of rummaging through the cupboards. In his hand was a clear bottle labeled “Hydrodine.” It was an emergency liquid to use when no Dendroline was within sight.
The bottle of the cap was opened, revealing a sharp and pungent medicinal odor in the air. If any of them were sensitive to smell, both of them would’ve started crying by now. Thankfully, none were, so he continued dabbing pieces of cotton onto the opening of the bottle. As Illuga continued dabbing the cotton on Lohen’s wounds, he carefully examined the face in front of him.
A pale and slim face, with mixed-colored eyes—resembling the midnight sky, and a hint of red mixed within it. Soft light turquoise hair framed his face, making him seem softer than he seemed.
“Ugh..”
Just then, Lohen suddenly let out a sharp gasp, glancing down at the bottle of medicinal oil that had fallen out of Illuga’s hands.
“S-sorry—it slipped from my hands!”
“It’s fine… It was just surprising.”
Not like it actually hurt him. Just the sudden throb made him jolt back to reality.
Illuga, hearing Lohen’s words, finally smiled. His blue eyes stared straight into Lohen’s, crinkling in relief and joy.
For a second, Lohen felt a jolt through his body—his heart seemingly stopping for a moment from unknown reasons. Then his heart beat sped up, completely disorientating his rational thoughts. He even felt that being with Illuga wasn’t a bad idea. How strange—was he drunk from fighting? Why was he thinking like this?
Bang!
The door to the medical room burst open, revealing a lightkeeper with reports in his hands. He was still looking at them, unaware of the current predicament.
“Captain, there’s an- huh…?”
As soon as he lifted his head, his eyes widened in shock. Nothing could explain how he felt witnessing this scene of the Night Oriole’s Captain kneeling in front of the 5th Company’s Vice Captain.
Illuga, at that moment, felt a surge of crisis, his ears flushing an obvious crimson color. He looked back at Lohen, who still had a confused expression on his face.
“Ahem. Sorry, Vice Captain Lohen, looks like you’ll have to tend to those wounds yourself.”
With one explanation, Illuga saved not just himself and Lohen, but also his dignity. He looked back at the lightkeeper, who looked visibly shocked. But the apology he gave seemed to give the lightkeeper some clarity.
…Right, why would their captain fall in love with someone? He was too responsible, never thinking about love—how could he just suddenly fall in love with some pretty boy?
Convinced by the usual interactions, the lightkeeper left with Illuga—unaware of the visible blush on his captain’s face and ears.
Once the two left, Lohen looked back down at his soaked pants. The bottle of medical oil was still lying on the ground, which was evidence of the chaotic mess that had happened just moments ago.
He picked up the bottle, placing it back on the table—letting the troubles of the empty medical oil fall into someone else's hands. The only problem was the spilt medication on the ground. Ironically, there was no towel or paper in the room that could be used to wipe the mess. It made him wonder if the lightkeepers were so meticulous that they had never spilled anything.
At least there were tissues here.. though not thick enough like towels, it could still pick up the liquid on the ground.
‘How did I go from fighting to a cleaning maid?’
Lohen begrudgingly wiped the floor clean after half an hour. It couldn’t be blamed that the tissues just soaked up the medicinal oil in one go, rendering it almost impossible for him to wipe it quickly. By the time he finished, instead of coming out with healed wounds, he seemed to have gained even more bruises from kneeling and cleaning at the same time.
“Hmm? What’re you doing here, Lohen? Normally, you don’t ever go get treatment for your wounds unless I drag you there.”
Varka took a closer look at Lohen, then spotted something unbelievable. His pupils constricted, almost bursting out in laughter as he pointed to the soaked pants.
“Did you walk through a pond or something? Why are your pants wet?”
“...Grand Master.”
Lohen looked at him, his eyes boring holes straight through Varka’s body. If looks could kill, this man would’ve been killed at least over thirty million times by now.
“Alright, alright. I’m joking, I can smell the medicinal oil. But who spilled it on you?”
“..Captain Illuga did. I was brought here by him.”
Suddenly, the atmosphere went quiet. Varka awkwardly glanced at him, occasionally looking at Flins, who was also at a loss.
“Right.. The Young Master does tend to care for others when they’re hurt.”
It was unknown if Lohen genuinely believed what Flins said, but he coolly nodded before walking out of the base once again. His steps were steady, as if the whole ordeal was nothing but irrelevant to him.
“My dear friend. I believe there seems to be a hint of…”
“Mutual feelings?”
The two men looked at each other, chuckling at their “interlinked” minds. Now, the only problem was how to get Lohen to realize those feelings. Even if he seemed smart, his emotional intelligence was horrible, unless that person was extremely obvious with it. But once closer to him, he disregards all social norms.
“I’ve witnessed multiple young men confess to Lohen… But most of them failed.”
It wasn’t just a failure. Every person who confessed failed miserably. It was either that Lohen assumed they wanted to fight, or he completely walked past them. Of course, such failures didn’t matter to people of Monstadt… They still confessed, at least until the 5th Company cut off every attempt.
“For a combatant unit usually 'bullied' by the Vice Captain, I find it quite interesting that they’re quite protective.”
“Of course. Even if he teases them and fights quite chaotically, he is a good captain; most people in Monstadt like him. The only thing that keeps them away is his unique personality and love for fighting.”
Varka spoke like he was talking to himself, nodding along the way as he continued speaking about Lohen. Flins, listening to the conversation, couldn’t help but feel like his ‘friend’ was practically gleaming with pride.
“Oh, dear. It looks like the Young Master will have quite a hard time then.”
“It’s fine. As long as the 5th Company has no idea about it.”
“Hmm? If I recall correctly.. Love between male knights isn’t allowed, unless extremely discreet?”
Flins rhythmically tapped the lamp on his waistband, thinking about the past.
“Oh, Flins. I think you’re just stuck in the past. There’s no discrimination anymore.”
Varka smiled at him with a knowing look, grinning like a mad fool. The expression made Flins chuckle, shaking his head fondly.
***
Days passed, and there was barely any development. Though in Varka’s opinion, it was a huge leap.
Lohen was the type to find interest only in thrilling things. Even if he was responsible, it didn’t change the fact that he was a “battle-holic” and never experienced anything related to affection, whether familial or not.
As of now, he was much more tolerant of Illuga than before, when he only saw a sparring partner. To put it in other words... he and Illuga were now friends.
For example…
“O-oh, Vice Captain Lohen. It’s a surprise to see you here!”
The lightkeeper at the base looked at Lohen with a profound expression. Though their face was more filled with horror from his battling antics, it didn’t stop him from thinking about the current gossip between other coworkers. Did Captain Illuga actually like Vice Captain Lohen?! However, before they could ask the knights of Favonius about their opinions, Flins and Varka appeared, telling them not to engage in such questions before walking off mysteriously!
But just because two superiors told them not to gossip, it didn’t stop them from wondering about it!
“Captain Illuga asked for me.”
Lohen, unaware of the lightkeeper’s whirling thoughts, nodded briskly before walking towards Illuga’s home. In the short distance, he could see the silver-haired man checking mail through his mailbox, sorting through it as he saw fit.
“Vice Captain, Lohen. How’s your day been?”
Illuga cheerfully greeted him, smiling as he put the mail away. Aedon, upon seeing Lohen, immediately flew over to him, landing on his shoulder.
“Well, it was just a patrol mission. Nothing exciting happened.”
Lohen gave a small smile as he replied in a monotone voice. He seemed bored as he recounted his patrol mission, emphasizing how uninteresting it was. Illuga listening, couldn’t help but smile, both in helplessness, and a hint of joy. His ears were slightly flushed, indicating the excitement he was going through. Some observant lightkeepers were able to see it, immediately whispering back to their coworkers.
“Perhaps next time I should go along with you so you won’t be bored?”
“Hmm.. That would be nice.”
Unknowingly, Lohen’s eyes soften subtly. Not enough for others to see it, but observant people such as Illuga noticed immediately. The sparkles in Illuga’s eyes noticeably brightened as he realized.
“Vice Captainnn!!!!!”
“Hmm? What are you doing here, Raufen? Usually you’re training.”
Raufen, who was usually at the training grounds, was out of breath. He looked at Lohen with burning eyes, exhilarated about something. It was rare for him to be so happy about something, unless it was something in his interests. His expression, however, faltered when he saw Illuga right behind, but quickly faded.
“The Grand Master brought back some wine! Specially brewed from Monstadt!”
“Wine from Monstadt? So suddenly?”
Although Varka was indeed a wine addict, he wouldn’t just bring in wine within just a few days of the expedition. The knights were also still invigorated. Their expedition in Natlan wasn’t that bad for an extermination hunt, and no one felt mentally burdened, yet.
“Vice Captain, are you alright? You look like somethings gone wrong.”
“No… I’ll go.”
“Oh… Oh! Well, be sure to invite Captain Illuga since Grand Master also invited the Lightkeepers!”
With a cold nod from Lohen, Raufen left. But before he did, he took one last look at Illuga, sensing something subtle about the two of them. For some reason, he got the same feelings he got with the Grand Master and Sir Flins together, but that should be impossible, right? After all, their Vice Captain never entertained the thought of love, and that Captain Illuga looks quite responsible! And if he really did…
“Since he said we should go, allow me to escort you there, Captain.”
Lohen stretched out a hand, waiting for Illuga to respond. It didn’t take long before the latter responded, almost eagerly placing his hand into Lohen’s. Unintentionally or not, their hands intertwined—like swans intertwining their necks—forming a bond for decades to come by, or for life even. Gradually, their footsteps became in sync like a pair of swans bonding as they ran to the unexpected party.
A smile slowly appeared on Lohen’s face, but was quickly hidden with a wave of his hand. The hand moved from covering his lips to the left side of his chest. A rapid heartbeat thumped beneath his hand, reminding him of his current situation.
However, that fluttering feeling was just as described. With a flap of the butterfly's wings, they made it to the Flagship—that beautiful moment vanishing from thin air, as if that heartstopping moment never existed.
“Vice Captain, you’re here!”
Raufen waved towards Lohen, gesturing for him to sit. There was one empty seat next to him, making it obvious it was a reserved seat for Lohen only. It was obvious that he didn’t expect Illuga to come, so there were barely any seats available. Even the lightkeepers who came to cool off were surprised by Illuga’s sudden appearance.
The atmosphere quickly grew somber. Lightkeepers awkwardly shifted in their seats, while the knights silently watched the spectacle.
“No, it’s fine.. Continue on, everyone.”
Illuga awkwardly waved his hands, shaking his head at the lightkeepers who were ready to get up from their chairs. He quickly glanced at Lohen, who got the cue and pulled him to a more secluded spot.
“Do you usually drink wine?”
Lohen took a wine bottle off the counter, pouring it into a glass. He pushed a glass of crimson liquid to Illuga, its surface reflecting both of their images.
“Barely. However, I can hold my alcohol quite well.”
Illuga seemed to have a proud smile on as he slowly downed the cup of alcohol. His eyes bent into near crescents.
“Barely drink? How do you even build your tolerance?”
Another glass of wine made its way to Lohen’s lips as he asked the question, his head tilted in what Illuga thought of as endearing. His usual aloof facade was broken by the variable called alcohol. After consecutive downs of wine without any breaks, a pink flush appeared on his cheeks, and his lips were coated with a shiny sheen of alcohol and saliva.
Miraculously, Illuga was still somewhat sober, watching Lohen continue drinking. His eyes then wandered off to the tight corset binding the dark blue uniform.
‘What a slim waist… Do all knights need one?’
It looked like he could wrap an arm around it despite not being much taller than Lohen himself.
And those thigh-high boots…
The more Illuga looked at it, the more his face flushed. His hand immediately reached for a glass of wine, chugging it in one go… Oh no.. Why was he thinking about such things right now?!
Even now, when he stared at the dazed eyes of the drunk Lohen, Illuga felt himself swallowing in saliva. When had he ever found himself like this for someone? It wasn't until he met this particular Vice Captain that he began to entertain such thoughts about someone else.
He looked around, avoiding the drunk Lohen next to him. Over on the other side, almost everyone but Varka and Flins had blacked out from drinking. There were still a few knights, but they couldn’t even be considered sober—just mindlessly indulging in the once-in-a-lifetime alcohol.
Compared to everyone else, Lohen really seemed docile when drinking…
“...Hmm? What are you looking at?”
“No.. I… It’s nothing.”
Illuga flustered at Lohen’s sudden eye contact, shifted his gaze. The looks of a beautiful person who was drunk were very detrimental to anybody.
Yet…
His gaze slowly made its way to Lohen’s lips, focusing on the pink color. He felt that if he kissed him right now… that feeling would be very soft.
Without realizing it, he had already cupped the latter’s chin with his hands—deforming the soft cheeks within his grasp. Although he had yet to kiss him, Illuga felt that he was indeed right... Almost everything about the Vice Captain was soft… His hair, skin, cheeks, and possibly his lips as well.
“Can I kiss you?”
Illuga blurted out, already half-drunk. The countless bottles of alcohol he shared with Lohen finally kicked in at this moment, rendering him unable to think. He was already leaning towards the other, their foreheads intimately touching.
In the heat of alcohol, he gained the sudden surge of confidence—and as if encouraged by the silent young man looking up at him, Illuga pressed his lips against Lohen’s.
‘It really is soft..’
His tongue swept through the pair of soft lips, licking them a few times before letting go. Lohen looked back at him, question marks appearing in his eyes as he stared at Illuga.
In the next second-
Lohen placed his lips back on Illuga’s. But rather than a kiss, it was more like a peck. He looked like a cat, a confused one—a feline who just came across something phenomenal—constantly licking at it in curiosity. His hand wrapped around the thin, scarred hand, squeezing it with no strength.
Illuga, at this moment, felt like some siren was seducing him. With all rationality gone from the wine, he decisively took the “siren” and kissed him again.
This time, he took his courage and stuck his tongue out further. It slid right through the former’s lips with practiced ease—their bodies pressed against the sofa heatedly like a pair of inseparable lovers. His hand intertwined with Lohen’s, connecting as he pinned the latter against the sofa. He could feel the in-sync heartbeats of theirs thudding and the shared breath of theirs as the atmosphere got more heated.
A warmth of excitement fizzed in Illuga’s chest like a display of Liyue’s Lantern Rite Fireworks—both beautiful and delightful—and full of deep love and joy. That faint petrichory and metallic smell was now much more pronounced than before, dizzying him to a heavy degree. That pair of impeccably soft lips was impossible to resist now.
When Illuga let go, Lohen suddenly found himself breathless—gasping for air. His dazed eyes now had a watery coat over them; it looked like he was about to cry at any moment. It seemed that there were stars in his eyes as he looked at Illuga, who was on top of him. The hand intertwined with Illuga’s slackened, softening against the latter’s touch. He currently felt like a mimosa plant, shivering in every spot that was touched.
Everything felt like a blur until he passed out right at the base. The last thing he remembered was lying on Illuga’s shoulder until he blacked out… Quite unbefitting for him to admit.
***
The next morning, Lohen woke up with a slight migraine. Although such things weren’t a big deal, it would’ve been better to not happen. That wasn’t the only issue, either…
He looked up at Illuga, who had the same pensive expression. The two of them sat awkwardly in the Favonius Keep’s tent—specifically, Lohen’s. There was a long pause before Illuga spoke up.
“About last night… Sorry about that.”
“...”
The more Lohen thought about it, the more there was a feeling he didn’t know how to describe gnawing at him from the inside. He looked at Illuga one more time, shaking his head.
“It’s fine.”
And… He probably didn’t mind it that much either…
“Pardon?”
Illuga looked at him with a bewildered expression, a faint blush appearing on his face. Belatedly, Lohen realized he might’ve said it out loud.
“Why don’t we try it out?”
It was too late to take back the statement, and neither was ignoring the situation responsible at all. They also both seemed to have the same feelings, so it wouldn’t hurt to try. People at Monstadt weren’t discriminatory towards people of other nations either.
When Illuga heard those words come out of Lohen’s mouth, his mind short-circuited—wondering if he was daydreaming about his fantasies once more. Yet faced with Lohen’s flustered expression, he found himself unable to think rationally.
“Let’s try it out.”

For the next few days, rumors involving the Night Oriole’s Captain and the 5th Company’s Vice Captain surged. Flins and Varka, who were usually strict about the rumors reaching the ears of the Knights of Favonius, slackened off.
In the corner of their eyes, the 5th Company could be seen. Although rather than looking happy, they looked as if some pig had eaten their cabbage.
“The 5th Company does not look so well.”
“Don’t worry about them. Let me tell you, they stopped everyone in Monstadt from confessing to Lohen. Hell, even Dahlia, our Deacon of the Church, was stopped! It’s about time Lohen gets a partner.”
Flins thought about it, the scene playing in his mind as Varka talked about the 5th Company’s efforts. He then looked back at the knights, smiling as he drank a cup of tea.
“I should congratulate the Young Master then. He managed to get together with such a protected person. His efforts truly paid off.”
“Lohen is a bit… Emotionally blind anyway. I truly wonder how they got together.”
Varka shrugged his shoulders, snickering as he spoke. In truth, they both knew what had happened last night and witnessed the scene unfold.
“Truly, the people of this era are much more bold than before.”
Flins looked ahead, watching as both Illuga and Lohen came back from their patrol. There were various bandages stuck all over the young vice captain. For a moment, he almost thought that Lohen had fought through a war. Of course, it was just Illuga being paranoid about his wounds. But he seemed to take it all in, even when it obviously looked uncomfortable; judging from his face and body language, there were no complaints or attempts to take it off. He even took the chance to lean his body towards Illuga subtly.
Looks like he’ll have to thank Aedon for this development.
Who knew falling in love at first sight was possible?
