Flins rereads these words in Varka's near-incomprehensible scribble. He hears them in Varka's voice. He sees Varka's smile. Feeling his mouth curl upwards in spite of himself, Flins wonders when Varka will tire of asking questions to which he already knows the answers.
After a run-in with Flins at the lighthouse, Varka suggests they write letters to each other to stay in touch. Their friendship grows into something much larger than either of them had initially imagined.

Until one foggy evening a stranger stumbles upon the desolated isle. And for the first time in what maybe centuries a human doesn't flich away from him. The stranger, Varka as he later learns, keeps on seeking him out. And thus the mantle of isolation slowly lifts from Kyrylls shoulders.
