Work Text:
"Ruskin... we need to do something evil - now!"
Ruskin, the secretary of Charles Augustus Milverton raised his head and gave a surprised look at his employer when he basically rushed into the study with that sentence. Of course, the wish to do something evil would be nothing unusual in Mr. Milverton's case. He proudly compared himself to the Devil and stated that he was the incarnation of pure evil - but something was off in their current situation. Ruskin saw that Mr. Milverton's golden eyes were glowing and the devilish light was even stronger than it tended to be. Like some entity started to possess his employer and turned him into the man who now stood in front of Ruskin and whose fingers were madly playing on the side of the desk.
"Don't you want to come up with an evil plan first, sir?" Ruskin asked and tilted his head, he added in a sarcastic tone. "You always say that you never go to battle until you are fully armed."
Yes - this was the other reason why Ruskin found the scenario quite strange. Mr. Milverton was proud - way too proud - to be prepared all the time, but even after these preparations, Ruskin often needed to get his employer out of trouble. Mr. Milverton was very eccentric, but Ruskin loved him with it, even if it was hard to accept for his orderly personality that he developed feelings for someone like Mr. Milverton. Ruskin got used to Mr. Milverton's behaviour of getting overexcited by the thought of ruining someone's life or tempting an innocent soul to sin, but he was currently at a level of madness which could have very dangerous consequences for him.
And Ruskin knew that he could never bear it if he lets anything bad happen to Mr. Milverton.
"We now don't have time for preparations." Mr. Milverton shook his head and his mouth formed a monstrous smile. "I want to make someone fall to their ruin... or humiliate them in front of the entire society. A delicious scandal or a torturing blackmail - I want to, I need to - no matter what it will cost!"
He licked his lips even only for the thought. Ruskin furrowed his brows. Mr. Milverton never acted carelessly and he could patiently wait for the best time when he could commit his evil deed without risking his reputation and the media empire he built up. But now, Ruskin was sure that this was not the case. He could feel that his employer will definitely run into his own downfall if he doesn't stop him somehow.
"Do you know what exactly you wish to do, sir?" Ruskin raised the question to buy some time he could use to avoid the catastrophe. A little confusion appeared at Mr. Milverton's gaze.
"Well... I need a few moments to think about how our strike can be the most damaging." He answered. A few moments - this was enough for Ruskin. He nodded and gestured at his employer's desk.
"Sit down, Mr. Milverton, and think it through until I am back." He told the other man and when Mr. Milverton finally obeyed, he quickly left the room to find out what was responsible for his employer's current state. Mr. Milverton was out with his bodyguards, Harry and Gosling while Ruskin remained at home to deal with something else. Harry will surely know what happened - and Ruskin had a very strong suspicion that he was actually the one who was behind this all.
The two bodyguards were sitting in the living room and they were in the middle of a card game. Ruskin didn't care about this too much - he burst into the salon and asked Harry in an ice cold voice.
"What have you done to Mr. Milverton?"
The young man looked up and innocently blinked.
"What do you mean?"
"You know well what I mean, don't pretend that you have nothing to do with this!" Ruskin lashed out. "What did you give to Mr. Milverton that turned him so hyperactive that is hard to endure even for me?"
"Oh." Harry's face lit up and he grinned. "Mr. Milverton asked for a coffee, but the coffee machine in the company had a malfunction. So I brought him a strawberry-flavoured energy drink instead. He seemed to like it." He shrugged his shoulders.
Ruskin couldn't believe what he heard.
"Energy drink? That is unhealthy! And look what it made of Mr. Milverton!"
The bodyguard let out a chuckle.
"Yes. That was unexpected. Maybe he is overly sensitive to caffeine or too much sugar. I have no idea how it happened."
"If you dare to poison Mr. Milverton again, I will kill you." Ruskin swore aggressively and didn't pay attention to Harry's "I didn't poison him" opposition, he just walked out of the living room and went back to the study again where Mr. Milverton was still his overly evil self.
"I finally know what we are going to do, Ruskin." He announced cheerfully what Ruskin was afraid of. He didn't have any idea of how to neutralize his employer or how to make the energy drink's effect disappear. All he could do was to wait until it would pass - and suddenly, an idea dropped into his mind of how to do it. Before Mr. Milverton could start explaining his probably senseless plan, Ruskin stepped to him and wrapped his arms around his employer's neck, he covered his mouth with his own. Mr. Milverton's eyes widened from the unexpected kiss, but he ended up kissing Ruskin back. Ruskin's fingers started caressing his employer's nape to arouse him. Redirecting Mr. Milverton's interests to sex was the last chance he still had.
"May I remind you what we tend to do before committing something evil?" He asked his employer seductively when their mouths separated after the long kiss.
He saw that Mr. Milverton's eyes shone up in a different light.
"You don't need to remind me of that." The man playfully answered and for Ruskin's greatest relief, he was not so keen to switch to the kisses Ruskin started to cover his neck with from the evil plan which Ruskin was sure could only end in a disaster. Ruskin held Mr. Milverton stronger while he pressed his lips to the pure skin and in his mind, he noted, that he will definitely supervise his employer's caffeine intake from now on.
And he will especially never let him drink energy drinks ever again.
