Work Text:
Rumi hadn’t spoken to Celine in months. That was the longest she’d ever gone without communicating in some kind of fashion to her. Normally, Rumi would at least text her at the end of every week to confirm that they were all okay and everything was going well. It felt weird to not be in contact with Celine but Mira had recommended it as a way for both of them to get some space and Rumi agreed it was necessary. She needed space from Celine just to think and figure things out and Celine probably needed some space from her.
That’s why, for now, only Bobby was in contact with Celine. He kept her up to date on everything she would need to know as the owner of the label, but always did his best to sneak in little things about the girls just so that she knew they were doing well. It wasn’t much but Celine accepted it with no complaints and thanked Bobby for giving her some information.
About five months after the Idol Awards, when the news about everything that had happened at Namsan Tower and with the Saja Boys died down, Rumi made the choice to visit Celine. It wouldn’t be a long visit, just a moment to sit down and talk to her, but Rumi truly felt like she was ready to talk. Mira and Zoey joined as support. If Rumi left the meeting saying she never wanted to talk to Celine again, they’d support her, and, if Rumi left the meeting saying she and Celine were talking again and everything was perfect, they’d support her.
When they pulled up to Celine’s house, Mira and Zoey decided to wait in the car, thinking it was best for them to remain out of the conversation for the time being.
“Are you two sure you’re okay with waiting?” Rumi asked.
“Yeah. We’ll be fine.”
“I just don’t know how long this will take and I don’t want you—”
“Rumi, this is no different than a stakeout.” Mira told her, “We’ll be fine.”
“Actually better than a stakeout because now we have leather seats.” Zoey was practically nuzzling against the seats in the back, stretching out as much as she could, “Go talk to Celine. We’ll be right here when you come back.”
“Thanks, guys. I’ll try to not take forever.” After receiving a few—maybe one too many—kisses from the two, Rumi pushed herself inside.
Celine was already waiting for her with fruit on the table and two cups of tea, one of them being in a special cup Rumi had made for Celine when she was younger. Hearing Rumi walk in, Celine quickly stood up and brushed herself off of whatever invisible dust was on her pants. She made no move to hug Rumi—-whether that was out of respect to Rumi or an inability to touch her patterns Rumi didn’t know—and waited for Rumi to walk over and sit on the couch.
“It’s great to see you, Rumi.” Celine smiled, “Bobby tells me you and the girls are doing well.”
“Yeah. Things were a little…unusual after the whole Saja Boy concert but after a lot of PR and interviews we managed to get the whole thing under control.” Rumi told her, “No one knows what happened or suspects we….kind of murdered them.”
“That’s good. Remind me to give a bonus to our PR team this year for their work.” They deserved more than a bonus but Celine was sure they wouldn’t say no to extra money.
“Speaking of more money, Zoey wants a raise as well.”
“What does she need a raise for?” And why? Huntrix had enough money to buy anything they could want.
“There’s a rare turtle that she wants to adopt. She wants to drain our pool and fill it with sea water for it and I guess that adopting it goes a bit over her budget.” Rumi chuckled, grabbing a piece of fruit.
“I’ll see what we have in the budget for buying rare turtles.” Celine laughed, “Is this similar to when she tried to buy that tiger for you for your birthday?”
“I think so.” To this day Rumi wasn’t sure if Zoey had been serious in her plan or not, “But I think I did see plans to convert the pool so I’m a little scared.”
Celine chuckled, “Worst case scenario, I’ll tell Zoey they’re the kinds of turtles you can’t cuddle with.”
“Perfect plan.”
“Is there anything you girls do need?” Celine asked, “Anything that’s not a rare animal?”
“I think we’re okay. We have everything for our comeback tour next week and I can’t think of anything we’ll need before then.” Their comeback tour was meant to cover the next year and would involve trips all over Asia. The three agreed they were a little too tired to do a worldwide tour again so soon after their last one. They could do that some other time.
“Ah, yes, your comeback tour.” Celine whispered, “I assume Bobby has that handled.” She reached forward and grabbed a piece of fruit, holding it for a moment before taking a bite.
“Mmhmm. He says everything is booked and everyone is ready for us.”
The obvious question lingered in the room. It had been unspoken since Rumi stepped into the room and Celine’s eyes landed on her short sleeves and visible patterns. Huntrix hadn’t had a big concert since the Saja Boys. Hadn’t had a big concert since Rumi started revealing her patterns.
“And my wardrobe is ready as well.” Rumi said, “My short sleeved wardrobe.”
“Rumi—“
“Yes, Celine?” Rumi’s voice tightened, “Is there something you want to say?”
“I just…I understand why my method of raising you was not-was not the best. I know I was wrong but performing with your patterns out could hurt Huntrix’s reputation.”
“I’ve done photo shoots with them. People know I have them.”
“Yes and you’ve lost fans because of it.”
“We lost maybe 1% of fans.” And that was mainly the fans who couldn’t stand tattoos—which is what the public believed they were—the majority of their fans had stood by them and even copied Rumi’s patterns onto their own skin to match, “You know that’s not a valid argument. You just can’t stand that you were wrong!”
“You think I’m upset that Mira and Zoey didn’t kill you? Rumi, I am overjoyed that I was wrong. I just think you need to be careful. We don’t know what your patterns could do to this new honmoon. This is completely uncharted territory and—“
Rumi slammed her cup down, “How are you still this obsessed over the Honmoon?! I created a new one with my patterns out! I almost turned the last one golden despite hiding them from Mira and Zoey! Clearly they don’t matter!”
Rumi’s yelling ignited something in Celine and she stood up. “You can’t say that for certain! I’m not saying you shouldn’t perform or anything like that! I’m just asking you to be careful!”
“It sounds like you’re saying I should go back to hiding and keep up all the lies that you’ve pushed me to tell!”
“You’re twisting my words!”
“I’m not twisting anything! You’re the one who made me hide my entire life! Who told me Mira and Zoey would try to kill me! Who couldn’t even look at me when I was sobbing in front of you! You didn’t care about me! You’ve never cared about me!” A blast of pink flew across the honmoon. Celine, taken aback by Rumi’s words, didn’t say anything for a moment. Slowly, too slowly, her hand reached out to touch Rumi’s arm.
“Rumi—“
The two hunters were rocked from side to side by the glowing honmoon beneath their feet. Without thinking, Celine grabbed Rumi’s arm and pulled her close to support her. Internally, Celine was cursing herself for not bringing her weapon to protect Rumi from whatever this was but she couldn’t dwell on that now. The honmoon continued to shine, engulfing their eyes in a light so bright that they couldn’t stand to look at it for long. Celine pushed Rumi’s head into her shoulder, protecting her face from what was happening.
“Celine?!” Rumi cried.
“It’s okay. It’s okay.” Celine kept Rumi’s head pressed against her shoulder, “Just keep your eyes closed.”
As quickly as it had started, the Honmoon returned to normal. The light vanished and it was as if nothing had happened at all. The only indication anything was different was the weather outside and Celine still holding Rumi close.
“What was that?” Rumi asked.
“I’m not sure.” Celine whispered, “The Honmoon must have reset itself or something?”
“Reset itself? Can that even happen?”
Celine pressed her lips into a thin line. She wasn’t sure. Rumi gently pushed herself away from Celine, daring to take a few steps and see if anything happened. Nothing changed or moved and the Honmoon didn’t react at all. Rumi took another two steps to see if that would garner any reaction and found nothing. A bit more confident, Rumi walked out of the living room and nothing happened.
“Seems like everything is—“
“Rumi?” Celine asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Mira and Zoey.”
The car was gone.
“Mira! Zoey!” Rumi screamed, forgetting her fear and rushing out the door. She ran outside and found nothing. No car, no tracks, it was like they were never here to begin with, “MIRA! ZOEY!” Panic began to engulf Rumi the more she looked and couldn’t find them. The singer pulled her phone out of her pocket and couldn’t even get it started, "What's wrong with my phone?!”
“Mine isn’t working either.” Celine told her, holding her dead phone in her hand. “That flash did something.”
“But what did it do?! And where are Mira and Zoey?!”
“Rumi, Rumi.” As gentle as she could, Celine grabbed Rumi’s arms. She stared at her to keep Rumi’s focus, “We’ll find them. It’s Mira and Zoey. Wherever they are, you know they can handle themselves, right?”
“Y-Yeah. They’re strong.”
“Exactly. They’ll be just fine. We just need to breathe and figure this out. Once we do that, we can fix it.” Did Celine truly believe her own words? Not completely. Did Rumi need to hear them? Yes.
Rumi nodded, “You’re right. You’re right. So, how do we figure out what the honmoon did?”
Celine froze. She hadn’t ever been in a situation like this before. Whenever something happened to them, it was usually done by demons, not the honmoon. Celine couldn’t imagine the honmoon would try to hurt them but she also struggled to understand what it was doing to them now.
Thankfully, she didn’t need to think about it too long as the distant sound of thunder caught her and Rumi’s attention. Dark storm clouds were beginning to roll into the area. Both Celine and Rumi narrowed their eyes at the incoming storm. They’d checked the weather that morning and there was no report of any bad weather on Jeju island for that day—for the week actually.
“Come on. Let’s get inside.” Celine said, pulling Rumi indoors.
While they walked back towards the living room, Rumi noticed something on the refrigerator out of the corner of her eye.
It was colorful.
Not just colorful. Colorful in the way that it was decorated by children’s magnets and pictures and drawings. Things that had once covered the refrigerator when Rumi was young but Celine removed at Rumi’s request when Mira and Zoey arrived—now they were all kept safe in Celine’s office.
“Did you put the pictures back on the fridge?” Rumi asked, walking into the kitchen to look them over.
“No.” Celine said, looking at the refrigerator, “They should all still be in my office. Why are they out?”
“They look…new.” Rumi whispered, “Like they were just done a few days ago.” She knew the pictures now were old with cracks and bends in them. These drawings looked like they’d just been created that day.
“Ne—AH!” Celine’s body slammed against the door.
“Celine!” Rumi cried, “Are you okay?! What happened?”
“I’m fine, Rumi. I just tripped on—“ Looking back, Celine’s eyes grew. She was staring right at a wooden little car. The same toy she’d gotten Rumi to play with when she was younger because she wanted to ‘drive’ the car too like Celine did, “I gave this away years ago.” She whispered, looking it over with confusion.
“What is it?”
“It’s your old car toy. You used to play with it in the car and on the floor. I got rid of it when you turned five and lost interest.” And because Rumi had a habit of rolling it directly under her feet, “Why is it back here?”
“Wait, hang on. The weather is wrong, old photos are back, my old toys are out…is it possible that we maybe, kinda, traveled back in time?” Rumi asked.
Such a thing had never been recorded before. In all the accounts of hunters who came before them, none of them spoke about time travel or anything similar to it. Celine couldn’t recall her own mentors ever mentioning that it was even a possibility. However, few other options for what was happening were coming to her.
“We need to investigate this more.” Celine decided.
“How do you mean?”
“My office.” If they were in the past, her office would prove it.
————————————————
Mira and Zoey had been lying in the car, watching their phone and snacking on chips that they’d packed when they felt the honmoon shake. Like a switch, the two flipped from tired and laid back to alert and active. Blasts like that only occurred when demons were breaking through the honmoon or when Rumi was upset and, since they could see where the blast was coming from, they knew it was coming from the house which meant there was only one possibility about what it could be.
They both jumped from the car without waiting and pushed the door open. Their weapons were drawn but mostly out of habit more than any real desire to hurt anyone.
“Rumi!” Zoey called.
“Celine!”
From the living room, they could hear voices and moved. It didn’t sound like anyone was yelling, which was good. For as much as Zoey and Mira were hesitant about Celine, they didn’t believe she’d ever hurt Rumi physically. Emotionally was another story. But it didn’t even sound like they were angrily talking to one another. It sounded like Celine was…comforting Rumi.
“It’s okay, agi. Try again.”
“Ce…Celi?”
Celine’s laughter filled the room, “Close enough.”
Rounding the corner, Mira and Zoey’s jaws dropped. The furniture was all the same, everything in the same position from when they had last been here, but, on the floor, was Celine—the white in her hair gone—and a toddler with purple hair and wearing a bright blue shirt and stretchy pants. Celine’s eyes moved up when Mira and Zoey came into view and turned dangerous.
“Who are you?” Celine demanded, scooping Rumi into her arms before either of them could blink, “What are you doing in my house?!” She hadn’t summoned her weapons yet but something told the two that she was ready to do so if needed.
Mira and Zoey remained silent. Neither of them were able to come up with a response as to what they were doing because the scene in front of them was too wild. Their silence prompted Celine to fill in the blanks as she stared down at their weapons.
“You’re demon hunters.” She whispered, “Did Eun Ji send you? Are you the new generation?” She demanded.
Mira and Zoey turned to one another and back to Celine. They still couldn’t form words. All they could do was stare at her and then down at Rumi.
Understanding clicked in Celine’s eyes, “No. No! I don’t know what Eun Ji told you but Rumi is innocent. She’s just a child.”
“Cece?” Rumi whispered.
“It’s okay, baby. They’re just friends of mine.” Celine still pulled Rumi close to her body, “Please. Please, she’s just a baby. She’s not dangerous.”
“Rumi—“ Zoey reached forward. For no particular reason except that it felt right.
Celine reacted by pulling Rumi closer to her, “She doesn’t steal souls. She's just a child. Please the patterns will come off. I just need more time." When they didn't respond, Celine grew even more panicked, "Rumi is only half demon. She’s not a full demon and…and…and....You don’t want to hurt a two year old, right?”
Finally snapping out of it, Mira spoke up, “Wh-What? What is going on?!” She snapped, “Why are you…younger? Why is Rumi a toddler?!”
Celine’s eyebrow furrowed, “What do you mean younger? I’m the same age I’ve been: 25.” Celine knew some singers had a habit of making themselves younger through lying about their ages but she’d personally never done that. Plus, if these were demon hunters---and she was fairly certain they were---sent by Eun Ji then they should know how old she is.
“You—You are not 25!” Zoey yelled.
Did she really look that old? Celine didn’t think her age deserved that kind of reaction, “I am. I can show you my ID. Actually, no-no! We’re getting off topic. Why are you here and why do you have honmoon weapons pointed at Rumi?” Celine demanded.
Their brief conversation proved to be enough to snap Mira and Zoey back to reality. They both retracted their weapons, “We don’t want to hurt you or Rumi.” Zoey said, “I think something’s wrong. We know about you both but we know about you from…well, from the future.”
“The future?” Celine asked.
“We’re the next hunters. We work with Rumi when she’s older. I don’t know how but it seems like we’re back in time.” Zoey explained, “Or,” Their car was still outside and the house looked a bit too ‘exactly the same’ for Zoey to confidently say that they were in 2003, “maybe you two are in the future?”
“In the future? What? Look, demons can do a lot but none of them can send us forward in time.” Celine argued.
“What if it was the honmoon?” Mira suggested, “If a demon can’t do it, maybe the honmoon can.”
“But there’s no reason for it to send us forward in time.” Celine argued, “Not when I’m one of the only hunters protecting it right now.” Maybe the only hunter unless Eun Ji was staying true to her word and fighting demons like she was supposed to.
“The new honmoon.” Zoey and Mira whispered.
“I’m sorry. New honmoon? Did the current honmoon break or something in your time?” Celine asked. Rumi, still in her arms, began to squirm. The danger, she sensed, had passed and now she wanted to get back to playing with her toys.
“Cece play?” Rumi asked.
“One moment, Rumi.”
“Cece play!” Rumi whined. Her lips began to shake.
“Can you play by yourself for two seconds?” Celine moved to sit Rumi down but froze, “Where’s her car?”
“Her car?” Mira asked.
“She had a toy car around here and now it’s gone. And…where’s my papers? I had papers on the table for Sunlight Entertainment. They were just here.” Celine had now pulled Rumi back into her arms and was pushing her way through the house, “Where’s Rumi’s blanket and her tiger? I put them all at the table for her so she could eat after we played. Where’s her artwork?”
“Still think our theory is crazy?” Mira asked.
“But why would the honmoon send us forward in time?” Celine asked again.
“We don’t know.” Zoey admitted, “But it probably has something to do with this being a new honmoon.”
“Yes. You said that before that you have a new honmoon. How exactly is that possible? Did something happen with the old one?” Celine asked.
“Ummm….it kinda got completely destroyed and Gwi Ma might have broken through so the three of us—us and grown up Rumi—created our own honmoon.”
Celine went completely still and silent.
“Cece?” Rumi asked, tapping her face.
“Celine?” Mira asked.
“Celine? Are you okay?”
“WHAT?!?”
———————————————
“2003. 2003. 2003. 2003.” Celine tossed documents to the side again and again and again. Everything said the same thing no matter what she looked at. The current year was 2003. Celine had just started Sunlight Entertainment a year ago and, while her standing as a Sunlight Sister did get the company off the ground, she was still in the process of getting people to take her seriously as a CEO.
“At least we know why our phones don’t work anymore.” Rumi sighed.
“I found my old Samsung.” Celine tossed the phone towards Rumi.
“This was a real phone?” Rumi asked, looking over the device in her hand, “Feels like a rock.”
Celine snickered, “Yeah and it feels even worse when you accidentally drop it on your foot because the toddler in your arms refuses to hold still.” The jokes may not have been incredibly appropriate for their current situation but laughter always used to make Rumi feel better when she was younger. It was something Celine just fell back on when Rumi was upset or scared without thinking. Besides, they were long past their previous argument and the tension between them had seemingly evaporated to make way for the panic they were now experiencing.
Rumi’s laughter was cut short when she opened the phone and saw contacts she didn’t even recognize, “I don’t know half these people.”
“Sounds right. A lot of people have left the company since 2003.”
“So, we’re in 2003. Somehow the honmoon brought us back to 2003.” The purple haired singer brought a hand to her forehead, rubbing her fingers against it, “What are we supposed to do? How do we get back to 2026?”
“I have no idea. This has never happened before. I can’t recall a single instance of the honmoon ever interfering this much for any hunters beyond its normal functions.” Normally, the honmoon just protected them or pointed out where demons were. On rare occasions, it could also alert them if a fellow hunter was in distress but never more than that.
“What about tears in the honmoon? Could this be one of those? Maybe my scream caused a tear and there was a tear in 2003 and they collided somehow?”
Celine bit her lip. It wasn’t a completely outlandish theory but it didn’t sound plausible, “Even if that’s the case, why 2003? And I don’t recall any huge tears in the honmoon in 2003. Nothing more than the average demon breaking through.” And she handled all of those demons before they were able to do any real damage to the honmoon.
“Meaning we have no way of getting back home.” Rumi grumbled, her head falling into her hands, “Mira and Zoey are gonna be so worried.”
Celine’s expression softened when she saw how upset Rumi was. It reminded her of how she’d get on demon hunts when she was away from Mi Yeong and Eun Ji for too long and started to get antsy about going back to them. She could always say it was a hunter thing but deep down Celine knew it was something more—but she wasn’t touching that topic anytime soon.
“Get some rest, Rumi.” Celine whispered, her hands helping the girl up, “I’ll keep looking.”
“Are you sure?”
“I’m positive. You had a long drive in and now you’re 23 years in the past. I think you’ve earned an early sleep. If you get hungry, the fridge and cabinets are stocked. Tomorrow, if we’re still in the past, we can go shopping for some of your snacks.” Right now the house was most likely just filled with Celine’s favorite foods and toddler snacks. Which reminded Celine that they also needed to get Rumi clothing as well.
“Thanks, Celine. See you in the morning.”
“Goodnight, Rumi.”
Celine had only just returned to her desk, pulling out any old documents she could find on the honmoon when she heard Rumi moving around. The door to the office was open, allowing Celine to see the living room—something she had done on purpose so she could see Rumi while working—and see Rumi plop herself down on the couch.
“Rumi? Why are you sleeping on the couch?”
“Because there’s a toddler bed in my room and I couldn’t fit in it no matter how much I tried.” Rumi reported back.
And a bed.
They also needed to get Rumi a bed.
Celine mentally added the item to their checklist, right under getting them back to their original time and hoping they weren’t destroying the timeline too much.
———————————————
“Where’s Rumi? Where’s Rumi? There’s Rumi!” Zoey and Rumi’s laughter filled the living room. After explaining everything to Celine, Zoey had decided to take on the responsibility of keeping Rumi entertained since she didn’t have her toys anymore. To Zoey, this meant getting on her hands and knees and chasing Rumi around the touch while the toddler laughed about being able to hide from Zoey, “You’re so good at hiding, Rumi.”
“Cece show me!” Rumi chirped.
“Celine showed you how to hide?” Zoey asked, “Why?”
“Demons.” Zoey nodded. That made sense. Rumi couldn’t exactly defend herself if a demon broke in so hiding was the best alternative. Despite the direness of such a situation, Zoey couldn’t help but remember documentaries she’d watched about felines hiding their babies to go fight. Rumi really was a little tiger since birth.
“And for bad people. If they come with shiny things.” A sinking feeling filled Zoey, making her hold Rumi closer, “Zozo?”
“You don’t have to worry about the bad people while Mira and I are here. Not at all.” Rumi didn’t understand the weight of Zoey’s words. Instead, she grinned and squirmed, “You want to see Celine?”
“Mmhmm.” She nodded, rubbing her eyes with her tiny fists, “Sleepy.”
“Then let’s get you to Celine.”
Celine and Mira were at the kitchen table with documents dating back to the first hunters and two laptops opened—Zoey assumed for research. But when she came in, Mira was leaning over Celine’s shoulder and pointing at something on the computer.
“No, no, Celine—You’re killing me. How do you not know how to use a computer? You’re a CEO.”
“I know how to use a 2003 computer. Not this!” Celine snapped, “What’s this Gemini thing in the corner? Why did they have to go and change everything?!”
“I’m sorry technology moved too fast for you, grandma.” Mira smirked.
“You know, technically, I’m only one year older than you two right now.” Celine said. That realization had been hit a few hours ago and it was still taking Zoey and Mira by surprise. Zoey was 23, Mira was 24 and Celine was 25. The exact same age as Rumi.
“Yes, but Mira and I know how to use a computer.” Zoey added.
Celine let out a defeated sigh while turning back to the computer, “I miss Internet Explorer.”
“You know you sound like you’re 50, right?” Zoey asked. She and Mira chuckled despite Celine’s glare. In their old time, Celine’s glare would have been enough to silence both of them but coming from a 25 year old woman who just looked exhausted and had a little bit of baby saliva on her shirt, it was hard to find it threatening.
Celine suppressed her urge to groan, “Give me my baby.”
“No.” Zoey playfully snapped.
“Give me my baby. You lost baby holding privileges. Come here, Rumi.” Zoey didn’t move when Celine reached for Rumi and took her, “You won’t go and change on me, will you?”
“Sleepy.” Rumi mumbled.
“Well, your bed is gone so…can you sleep on me, agi?” Rumi was already closing her eyes, “That’s my girl. Eomma’s here. I’ve got you.” If her soft breathing was anything to go by, Rumi was already asleep. Meanwhile, Zoey and Mira were laser focused on Celine’s words. Celine never called herself Rumi’s mom in their time. If she ever spoke about Rumi’s mother, it was always in reference to Mi Yeong. Once, after a long night of training, Rumi accidentally called Celine eomma and Celine had visibly winced.
As if sensing their looks, Celine explained, “She’s too young to know yet that I’m not her mom and hearing the word calms her. I’ll explain the truth to her when she’s older. For now, she can have the lie even if it isn’t a pretty one.”
“What do you mean?” Zoey asked.
“Nothing.” Celine shook her head, “We haven’t found anything on how Rumi and I are here or how to get us back to our correct time. I guess that means that, for now, we’re stuck here?”
“I think so.” Mira nodded, “Zoey and I know this time so we can help you and Rumi stay hidden.”
“What about your upcoming comeback tour?” Celine asked. Zoey’s eyes widened when she mentioned that. She hadn’t expected Mira to tell her, “You need adult Rumi to perform with you.”
“Worst comes to worst we’ll cancel–”
“No. No, you cannot cancel.”
“If we don’t have Rumi, we can’t perform.” Zoey argued, “What do you think we should do?”
Running a hand through her hair, Celine let out an exhausted sigh, “I don’t know. I wish I did.”
“Why don’t we all get some rest tonight and we’ll figure out what to do in the morning.” Mira suggested, earning nods from both of them.
“That sounds like a good plan.” Celine agreed, “You two are my guests but if you wouldn’t mind, I’d like to take the bed in case Rumi rolls in her sleep.”
“Go right ahead.” Zoey said, “Rumi getting good sleep is in all our best interests.” Celine could only offer a wordless nod and slip away to her bedroom leaving Zoey and Mira to both let out defeated sighs.
“What are we going to do?” Zoey asked, “How are we supposed to get our Rumi back?”
Mira took her hand and squeezed it. Not enough to hurt, never enough to hurt, but enough to confirm that she had Zoey there with her. That she had real support by her side, “I don’t know. We’ll–We’ll figure this out.”
“We will.” Zoey nodded along with Mira. Even if neither of them were exactly clear on how they could figure this out or even where to start.
