Let Me Paint You A Picture

Summary:

Val wants to try body paint, Velvette wants to be creative and Vox wants to update his systems.

Notes:

Just a little silly one of the Vees having fun together. I like to think that Velvette mainly likes art like sewing, knitting, sketching and bedazzling, but she admires Val's paintings and kind of wants to be that talented too. Of course she's good at painting, just not as hyper realistic as our moth.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Velvette doesn't often feel the need to paint.

She was fine with sketching, with charcoal or colored pencils. She only designed outfits when she drew.

But sometimes Velvette wants to paint, wants to get a little messier, try new things, see if colors blend the way she wants them to.

Makeup is a great way to do this. She loves setting up her supplies in front of her vanity mirror and trying new techniques, blending colors together that sometimes turn out beautiful, experiments with texture and placement. And she loves using makeup on Val, he's always a willing canvas for her to use.

But she rarely ever wants to use real paint, nor does she mention that she wants to be as good as Val one day.

Val loves painting. He has oil pastels and watercolors, acrylics and even some ink. He loves decorating a canvas with color, and loves transforming a white square into a masterpiece.

There is a way of painting Val hasn't tried yet, that he wants to try today.

Val really wants to try body paint.

He wants to make a living, breathing art piece, but he doesn't want to do it on a stranger. Velvette's skin is too smooth and the body paint doesn't stick to it, Val's fur makes everything clumpy.

Which leaves…

Vox has smooth skin, slightly synthetic, but it's hairless, easy to paint. He grumbles about it, but he eventually lays down on the table, only in his boxers. Val gets to work painting him white, like he's priming a canvas.

Watching Val paint Vox white is weird. Technically she knows Vox was white topside, but white doesn't really mean the color white, and also she's so used to seeing Vox as… well, dark blue. Maybe this is what Heaven Vox would look like, she jokes.

But as she watches Val start mixing his colors together on a pallette, she can't help but want to paint Vox too.

She's currently prepped to take photos of the process so she can post to their socials, but now she feels the urge to paint, to be creative. Painting Vox is weird, but it could also be like birthday party face paint, though she can't paint his screen.

“Wait, I want to paint too,” she says, and cringes, hoping she didn't sound like a whiny kid.

Vox raises an eyebrow, but Val passes her a paintbrush.

“Does that ruin your plan?” Velvette says. She's not sure if Val wanted to paint one large piece across Vox's body or if he wanted to do a bunch of smaller pieces.

Val shrugs.

“Didn't really have a plan, just wanted to do it. Get creative, babydoll, go wild!”

Vox frowns.

“Not too wild. I don't want dicks and vaginas on me,” he says, pointedly looking at Val.

Val gasps, a hand covering his heart.

“I would never,” he says.

Velvette dips her brush into the blue and stops. What does she want to paint?

Val's already started on a hyper realistic painting of a forest on Vox's ribs, tongue pointing out in concentration.

Velvette pulls up her camera roll and Vinterest for inspo.

She eventually decides on some vintage steampunk gears, painting Vox's ribs as well because the thought of touching any lower makes her want to gag.

She doesn't know when, but with nothing to do and with the instructions to keep still Vox eventually shuts down, screen going dark. He's probably doing routine maintenance since he knows they'll be a few hours.

Val starts on a Shok.wav piece on Vox's arm, occasionally groping Vox's bicep as he paints jagged teeth and that big camera eye.

Velvette turns some music on, takes photos of their progress. It might be a weird, non-cohesive piece when they're done, but they are showing off their skills.

Velvette paints a trail of flowers along Vox's left hand and wrist.

“Do you think he'd let me paint a dick if it was mine?” Val asks.

Velvette snorts.

“No, Vee, I think he would be very pissed you painted a dick on him when he said to not paint dicks on him.”

Val humphed.

“Uh, fine.”

Val paints a treasure chest on Vox's thigh, overflowing with gold coins and cut gems. Beautiful rubies, emeralds and sapphires spill out and somehow he makes them look like real, transparent glass.

Velvette manages to cobble together a miniature Entertainment District on Vox's stomach.

Slowly they fill in gaps, adding emojis and vines and books and patterns and fish and food.

Vox's body is painted with anything and everything, but one space still remains open.

The area on top of Vox's heart is the only place left blank.

“Us?” Velvette questions.

“Us,” Val confirms.

Together they paint themselves over Vox's heart, a little cartoony Val and a small, cute Vel with big smiles on their faces.

Val paints a little red heart next to his mini self and Vel paints a little purple heart next to it.

Vel snaps pictures of the final huge piece.

Vox wakes up from his updates.

“Uh?,” he mumbles, hand moving to push himself up.

“Wait!” Val cries out. “The paint needs to dry a little longer.”

Vox angles his head up a little to look down at the craziness they painted.

“You done playing makeover yet?” He asks.

Velvette pulls her phone out, takes more pictures now that Vox is awake.

“Val, get in frame with your art piece,” she says.

Velvette takes a selfie with Vox splayed out and Val giving duck lips in the background.

When they deem that the paint has dried enough Vox slowly moves to sit and then stand. He turns his head to see all the pieces.

He smiles at the little Shok.wav and almost touches a circuit board that Vel slaps his hand away from.

And then he sees his chest. The tiny Val and Vel over his heart.

He rolls his eyes.

“Sappy much?” He says, but his mouth is slightly quirked up at the side.

Val kisses the top of Vox's screen, hand brushing down Vox's unpainted neck and back in a soft caress.

“Please, we know you love us,” he purrs.

Vox rolls his eyes again, but he picks up a paintbrush in the blue paint.

He reaches for Val's hand and paints a small heart on the back of his hand, before reaching for Velvette's and doing the same.

“Yeah, yeah. Same, I guess,” he says.

Vox stretches his arms over his head, listens as some of the paint cracks.

“And now I'm going to take a long shower that'll clog the drain because you two fuckers decided to Picasso me,” he said, walking out of the room.

And when he does there's a small, barely noticeable against Vox’s dark skin, purple painted dick on the back of Vox's neck.

Velvette turns to Val with an impressed look.

Val shrugs.

“I have my ways,” he says.

Notes:

Just a lil something fun before I do Vox week next week.
