Summary
"Just five questions," the voice tries again, softer this time, as if it could wash away the cold dread in the pit of his stomach. If only he was awarded something close to certainty—then perhaps the thorny vines wouldn't wrap around him so. He doesn't have it in him to spit out another tirade, but the voice breaks through the haze. "I'm sure we can do five questions. Here, I'll get us started. Who are you?"
He grimaces. The question free falls down to the tissue of his entrails, twisting the flesh into knots. Sweat beads on the back of his neck, making his hair stick to his damp skin.
"Who…?" He clears his throat. Sour laughter bubbles out of him as the first round of panic settles over him. "I—"
