Dad,
I can’t stop thinking about Thalia. I told you in my last letter that we got to Camp safely, but I was lying. If I wasn’t there, they never would have gone to Camp. If they never went to Camp, maybe those bulls never would have caught them. If she never met me, Thalia would still be alive. Luke says to stop thinking like that. He says that she loved me and if she heard me say something like that—well, I don’t know what she’d do. I miss her so much. My siblings at Camp are nice, but she was my sister first best friend. No one talks about her anymore.
Love Sincerely From,
Annabeth

Luke gave me your number. He says he found it on the internet.
They don’t really have Christmas at Camp, but we still have it on our own.
Luke got his first quest. He asked for a phone as a reward and the gods gave it to him.
It was my Christmas present.
Tell Matthew and Bobby that I said Merry Christmas.

Is this still your number, Dad?
It’s been three years since Luke was sent on his first quest.
It’s been one day since he tried to kill Percy.
He’s so angry. I wish he’d been this angry when Thalia died.
He’s not even mad about her.
He’s mad about his stupid quest and his dad never talking to him.
Things are going to be really bad at Camp.
If you never hear from me again… you’ll know why.

I think Mt. St. Helens erupting was our fault.
Percy still hasn’t come back. I’m scared, Dad.
He’s the best friend I’ve ever had.
We’re having his funeral soon. His mom wasn’t even invited.
If I had a funeral, would they invite you? I don’t know if I’d want them to.

Subject: dying?
Dad, it’s Annabeth.
Tomorrow is Percy’s birthday, which means that a lot is going to happen. There’s going to be a battle at the Empire State Building and a lot of people are going to die. I’m saving this as a draft and not sending it yet. I told Thalia and Grover that if I don’t make it, they have to send this email to you. I gave them my login and everything.
If you get this email, I’m dead. They’re going to have a massive funeral on the 25th for all the demigods who died in the battle, even the traitors, because everyone should have proper funeral rites. Nico says it’s really important. We don’t really invite families to funerals at Camp, but Chiron said it would be O.K. if you came. You won’t know anybody, but everyone there will be my family. You can bring Bobby and Matthew and even their mom if you want. I just thought you should be there.
Your daughter,
Annabeth Chase

Subject: school
Dad,
I’m starting my senior year in two weeks, on September 5th. Sally and Paul are letting Rachel and me live with them as long as we help out around the house—that’s what Paul says, but Sally would let us stay anyway. They have a daughter now, Estelle. She’s five months old and she’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. We’re all going to miss seeing her as much when school starts.
All three of us are going to Goode High School, where Paul teaches. None of us have been there for all three of the years before this one, but it’s going to be fine. We have a few friends there and we’ll have each other.
After we graduate, we’re all going to go to New Rome University, I think. That’s the plan. We’ll get to go for free because of services to Rome, or something like that. I’m going to go to college, just like you always wanted.
Magnus is doing well, even though he’s dead. I saw him last week and met his partner, Alex, who’s also dead.
I’ll see you for Christmas.
Love,
Annabeth Chase
