“4c? What are you doing here? I thought you were getting wood for the church? 4c?”
4c turned to look at her. “Hm. Who are you?” He tilted his head as he questioned her.
“...what? 4c, you know who I am! I’m Mae, your friend,” she exclaimed; her eyes looking at him in confusion.
“No, I don’t. I’ve never met you before,” he responded.
“4c, are you okay? How did you forget me? Did you forget everyone else too?” Her voice started to speed up.
“I didn’t forget, I’ve just never met you before. I would remember meeting you. And what others?” 4c said, in obvious confusion.
“...you don’t even remember Nom?” Her voice was calm, but it sounded very fake.
“Who?” 4c, oblivious to the panic he had just caused in Mae, looked back over the lands in between them and red. “I love sunsets.”
Mae wrote a letter, called her bird, a little magpie, and attached it to its foot. “Go give this to everyone,” she whispered. The little bird jumped off her arm, and flew away. She sighed and turned to 4c.
“Hey 4c, do you want to come with me to the castle?”
“You have a castle!? I want to see a castle.”
“Well then, follow me.” Mae climbs down the mountain, with 4c following slowly after her.
