Work Text:
Silvia shrugged off her lab coat, transitioning out of being Doctor Ayad and into just Silvia. She let it slump onto the chair, and turned to leave. Then she paused, picked up the coat, and hug it on the designated hook by the door on her way out.
Today was her day off. Well, to be accurate, it was their afternoon off. They had gotten a touch distracted by new data surrounding the Vault expeditions that Christine and Veronica had been on.
But now, she was truly clocked out. Time to go to their flat, turn on some music (on her pip-boy, since the Jukebox could not actually play music), and read some William Blake poetry.
Or maybe she could investigate the Sink some more. They know that there is more that the Biological Research Station can do.
She paused, and shook her head. No. Time off meant no working, and no research.
Even if the research is interesting.
She sat on her sofa, a prewar tape containing a selection of romantic era music playing from the pip-boy, and reached for her poetry book. It was small, with artwork of an engraving on the front, and the title on the side in white font, contrasting a black background.
A bookmark sat near to the centre, and when they opened the book, it fell onto the poem ‘London’. She smiled to the book, eyes softened underneath her golden glasses, and began to read.
The tape had ended by the time she got up, making her way to the kitchen and the waiting bottle of Sunset Sarsaparilla.
She cracked open the bottle and leant against the side, pondering the viability of the Research facility to make fresh drinks, since she was pretty sure that they would run out of sarsaparilla sooner rather than later.
They sighed, and realised that they were thinking about work again. She considered going on a walk, but that would require teleporting back to the Mojave, since everywhere in Big MT would just make her even more eager to return to working. In the end, they decided that a walk was probably not the smartest idea, and headed to their bedroom.
Not before stopping to collect the book on the sofa, and pocket the bottle cap.
It was good to have a tidy space.
That was when the thought struck them. She could use her day off to clean!
With Radio New Vegas blaring from her wrist, Silvia tidied, cleaned, and completed other chores until the sun had sunk below the horizon, and the stars were pale flecks on a midnight sky.
A free day spent well, she decided.
