Work Text:
It had been ten years since Jonas died. That was Silvia’s first thought, upon looking down at her pip-boy. August 17th, 2287.
Ten years in which she did infinitely more than the first 19 of her life.
Ten years in which they did more than most people ever would.
She was tired. Nobody knew who Jonas was, outside of the Vault. They did not exactly have the opportunity to revisit Vault 101. Not after their summary expulsion by Amata.
She sighed, and looked down at the list of Vaults on her desk.
Ten years, and she was still hunting down Vaults. Vault-Tec seemed to have its claws in her life.
She looked at the pip-boy ruefully. She may have not been born in the Vault, but she had the same connection with the pip-boy that most dwellers developed.
They wondered if Haku had felt the same. It had been over a hundred years since he left his Vault. He had been 19 as well. Ayad family seemed a touch cursed, then.
Still. Silvia was 29 now, and a Doctor. As well as being the head researcher at the New Big MT. It had been a fairly productive ten years. Even if her hands were stained with blood, and she knew the girl who left the Vault would stare at the atrocities, that the woman she became had committed, with unending horror.
Ten years could change a lot. When a dweller of Vault 101 turned ten, they received their pip-boy.
Silvia turned twenty planning to leave the Capital and never return.
She had no plans for turning thirty. As she learnt ten years ago, a lot can change in a year. Maybe the world would end, again.
She hoped that it would remain. They were truthfully quite tired of the world ending. The Legion still scrabbled together remnants.
Maybe that was how she would spend the next year. Leave her research, and join Boone. Staining crimson armour an even deeper crimson.
Or, the more likely option, they would spend the next year researching pre-war facilities, exploring every conceivable area, in an attempt to better the Wasteland. Or, at least the West Coast.
Maybe she would investigate the reports from Massachusetts. It would take a lot of energy, but the old University combined with the numerous regional vaults could be worth an expedition.
Yes, she decided. She would have a look at their Massachusetts reports. They could swear the word ‘cryogenics’ had come up at one point.
Ten years since Jonas died, and she will return to the East Coast.
