My interest is to lay with you

Summary:

Abolish has been neglecting his own sleep in favor of work.

Work Text:

Abolish trudged up the stairs of his apartment building, rubbing the side of his face as he reached his floor. The elevator had been long broken, even when he had started living there, and it didn’t bother him for the most part.

Until today.

His apartment wasn’t on a high floor, but his whole body seemed to ache after exiting the stairwell, immediately making a beeline for his apartment door on the left side.

The door was already unlocked when he twisted the knob.

Fuck.

This either meant someone broke in to try and steal something, broke in to try and kill him, or it was just Scott.

Abolish wasn’t sure if there was a time before now that he prayed it was the third one. He could deal with Scott. He could ignore Scott. Scott hadn’t been an active risk as of late, just a pain in the ass.

He could deal with that.

He unholstered his pistol, his finger off the trigger, before pushing the door open and aiming it forward.

The entry was dark, but the light in his kitchen had been turned on, as well as the floor lamp near his bedroom door.

Abolish creeped forward slowly, peeking out from the entry way door before lowering the pistol.

Scott was on his couch, scrolling on his phone. His normally white hair was streaked with teal, and he was—

“Is that my sweatshirt?”

Scott glanced up from his phone, looking over at Abolish. “Hm? Oh, yeah. It got cold in here.”

Abolish sighed, setting his pistol on the counter. “Why must you always do this?”

He shrugged. “I like seeing you.”

Abolish hummed, glancing back over at Scott briefly. He felt like he was going to collapse if he kept standing.

…Fuck it.

He shrugged off his suitjacket, draping it over the back of one of the chairs in his kitchen, before walking over to the couch, pushing Scott’s arms out of the way and lying on top of him.

He was…

Surprisingly comfortable.

He felt Scott freeze up beneath him for a moment, before his hand went to Abolish’s hair, toying with the ebony black and ivory white strands at the base of his neck. “...I see what you mean about you needing sleep now.”

Abolish grumbled wordlessly, pressing his face into Scott’s shoulder. Even though it was his hoodie, it already smelt like Scott’s amber cologne and citrus—Bergamont?—shampoo, and he felt himself relax.

As Abolish drifted off to sleep, he felt Scott press a kiss to the crown of his head, gently pulling him closer as he did so.

…Goddamnit, Goldsmith.

Abolish had no idea how long he’d been asleep for. Just that the darkness was a comforting bliss he wanted to take advantage of while he could.

His sleep was never this deep. And it was… nice.

Did people normally sleep like this?

He felt a gentle nudge to his shoulder and mumbled something unintelligible, shifting slightly and pressing his face closer to the soft fabric.

If I knew you were this cute when asleep, I’d come over more often.

Abolish cracked an eye open at the words, turning his face slightly and made eye contact with Scott.

Right.

He had fallen asleep on Scott.

Why did he have to be so comfortable?

“Morning, ghrian.” Scott brushed a strand of hair out of his face..

“Stop looking so smug,” Abolish sat up slightly, feeling Scott’s arms tighten around his waist. At first, he thought it was for… other reasons, but then realized that the vampire was two inches from falling off the couch and was probably just trying not to have a rude meeting with the floor.

“I wouldn’t call it smug,” Scott countered. “You just get very cuddly when you sleep.”

“I do not.”

He gave Abolish a look. “I’ve been stuck here for six hours, leannan. I can’t feel my legs.”

He was asleep for six hours?

Abolish crawled over Scott to get up from the couch, taking the moment to stretch.

Scott stood up behind him, wrapping his arms around Abolish’s torso and pulling them both back onto the couch, Abolish sitting on his lap.

“That didn’t mean get up,” he bemoaned, resting his chin on Abolish’s shoulder.

He turned to give Scott a look. “I still have work to do.”

Wow, you say that like you think I care,” He pressed a kiss to the side of Abolish’s face. “You’re too comfy.”

“I am not,” He maneuvered out of Scott’s grasp, only for the vampire to tackle and pin him to the couch, one hand pinning his wrist to the cushion and his other arm wrapped around his waist.

“The work can wait,” Scott murmured against his ear, nipping at his earlobe lightly.

They can wait.
