Summary
Scott Goldsmith has just woken up, and already there was a vampire hunter in the town.
Just his luck! At first, Scott was going to ridicule him, but now he's not so sure that's the best option. He doesn't want to get staked again. Instead, he decides the best way to get at the vampire hunter is to say he believes him, slowly gain his trust, then betray him and take the town. He seems incredibly naive, too. Scott can tell he's never actually killed a vampire before.
Well, you know what they say. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. If Scott wants to have a bit of fun and regain his empire, sacrifices have to be made.

OR; Scott, instead of ridiculing Avid, tells him he believes him in an effort to gain his trust. They move in together as roommates. And for now, Scott believes that he's the worst monster in that town.
