sneaking out

Summary:

Cass and Alex sneak out of the gala and into a quiet space.

Work Text:

The gala was in full swing, everyone standing around, drinking and laughing the kind of laugh you did so it seemed like you were polite, but wanted to be anywhere else but there.

Alex, knowing what they signed up for, still hated it.

Though, they had a feeling they were enjoying it a lot more than their dads.

They watched as Jason tried to hide a clear distaste for an older man and woman, while Percy just gently shook his head.

At that moment, no one really took another look at Alex; no one knew who they were.

There was soft, classical music being played live, waiters and waitresses fluttering about, and so many attendees. It was honestly surprising that this many people showed up, but they also knew that if they tried to pay attention, many people would be talking about business.

It was all very boring.

When they first walked in, Alex got some looks from the older people already in the room, but they knew why. Their outfit was… unconventional, as some might put it.

Alex was standing near one of the snack tables, snacking on some of the fancy snacks they had.

Cass came up beside them, smiling at them as she also grabbed something to eat.

‘Having fun?’ She signed.

Alex shrugged their shoulders, “Eh, it’s very boring, how long do we have to stay?”

Cass let out a silent giggle, ‘I’m planning on sneaking away soon, want to join me?’ she asked.

Alex immediately nodded, wanting out of the loud hall.

She smiled, grabbed Alex’s hand and led them out of the hall and into a side room with a couch.

Both of them collapsed onto the couch, letting out a huff, almost melting into the couch.

After a couple of minutes, Alex spoke.

“It’s a lot better here.”

Cass laughed, “Yes, it is.”
