Gao Lele closed his laptop in determination.
He finally got into the university of his choice through a scholarship line. He will start university in a month, majoring in business study. Finally his relentless hours of study in idle and high schools bore the fruit he needed. This university course is crucial to what he wanted all along.
Gao Lele was raised in a single omega-parent household. Despite it, Gao Lele felt he lacked nothing. It was just his omega Papa, Gao Tu, who has been mostly bed ridden after giving birth to him. His Alpha Aunt, Gao Qing, became their family’s pillar up until she moved out with her new Omega wife a year ago. Aunt Gao Qing still supported their family through monthly support, but Gao Lele knew he couldn’t depend on Aunt Gao Qing any longer.
His Papa worked as an online translator ever since Lele was born. Gao Tu never regained his health after giving birth to Lele. Any strain of exercise would render him unable to move the next day. He slowly gained some health back, but he was never the strong omega-almost-beta like he previously was. Gao Lele knew how bad his Papa’s health was since he was small and was used to it. Gao Lele grew into an independent boy with strong determination to be the best in school so that he could get scholarships and good jobs to support his Papa in the future.
When he was fifteen, Lele found out that he actually has an Alpha Father. He incidentally found a picture of his young Papa with another boy. This boy looked just like him. When he reverse searched the image, Lele found a match to be a conglomerate named Shen Wenlang from Jianghu county. It started his online obsession to find out more information about that Alpha. What he discovered along the way dismayed him.
His Alpha Father apparently was his Papa’s boss. But it seemed Papa left before Gao Lele was born. Despite being fifteen, Gao Lele was smart enough to deduce that his Alpha sperm donor must have forced his Papa and refused to take responsibility. His Papa, while never blaming the Alpha sperm donor, also never told Lele about his real Father. It seemed his Papa was too scared or too traumatized to tell Gao Lele the truth about his conception.
It broke the teenager’s heart to know he was unwanted by one of his parents. But Lele knows his Papa loves him very much, so he swore he would be the best son for his Papa only. Yet the curiosity continued, up until he found out that his Alpha sperm donor seemed to have a kid – a boy named Hua Sheng. Hua Sheng himself was quite popular in Douyin with his naughty boy personality. He was famous for his brattiness, out-of-the-box attitude and also dare-devil habits. He seemed very rich as well. Watching some of Hua Sheng’s videos made Gao Lele hate them more. Hua Sheng was rolling in wealth while Gao Lele and his Papa counted every cent.
Slowly a revenge plan formed inside his mind. He wanted to make them hurt too, just like how that Alpha hurt his Papa. He wanted to make them feel his Papa’s pain. And it seemed like Heaven supported Lele’s plan. Lele differentiated into an Alpha when he was seventeen. Meanwhile, while it was never specified publicly, many speculated that Hua Sheng has turned into an Omega. In Lele’s simple mind, he could mark the omega for life, rendering him unable to mate with no one other than Lele. Then, Lele will leave Hua Sheng just like Shen Wenlang left Papa.
He knew it was unethical. Revenge was bad, and his Papa taught him to be a good kid. But watching his Papa’s struggle daily, trying to feed them both while managing his constant pain made Lele gritted his teeth in anger. His Papa deserves the best, not this barely-living condition. In fact, his Papa only leaves the small apartment once-a-week for grocery runs, and never got a holiday. All Lele’s holiday or birthday trips were done by Aunt Gao Qing. Lele was already used to it, so his birthday wishes changed from trips to house-party to just a small dinner with special meat.
So Lele decided he would pursue Hua Sheng romantically until the rich boy fell heads over heels for him. Not ethical, but Lele believed he was justified. He just silenced the little voice in his mind who found Hua Sheng very, very attractive. Based on that objective, he started to keep up with Hua Sheng and everything about him. By luck, Lele also found information about the university Hua Sheng was going to–which , luckily enough, also provided scholarships based on academic performance. Lele worked hard for it with a single-minded obsession; he stopped all his non-counted extracurricular activities and focused on gaining merits until he was eligible (and most worthy of) the scholarship from his school district.
It was hard work and endless sleepless nights. He lost some of his friends because he refused socialising as it reduced his study time. He focused on study and his marks so much until he had nosebleed some nights. His Papa was worried about him, and softly encouraged him to slow down; but Lele had his objective and he would get it. He would enter that university with a scholarship and he would make Hua Sheng fall in love with him.
And now, Lele just got the acceptance letter and proof of scholarship. He is ready for his next phase. He would need to be the best he was, as handsome as he could be, so that Hua Sheng would notice him. Lele especially took the part time job as a gym staff for it. Getting his body ready while getting some pocket money. The gym members are also very kind to him, teaching him about health and fitness, while some also bought him clothes that flatters Lele’s developing physique.
His Papa just watched him in silent concern. When the time of Lele moving to the university dorm (the scholarship includes dormitory) came close, his Papa looked so lonely.
“Please take care and keep in touch,” his Papa softly asked as Lele tied his shoes to leave the apartment they have been sharing all Lele’s life.
Lele grinned. “I will text you everyday, Pa. don’t worry. I will not disappoint you.”
“You have never ever disappointed me, and don't forget I always love you. Just come home if you need anything.”
“I am going first, Pa.” Lele stood up and kissed his Papa’s cheek. “I’ll be back before you know it. I am sorry I can’t come home often, as it is quite expensive, but I do have scholarship return allowance every end of semester. I will see you in six months, yeah?”
His Papa doesn’t look like he agreed to it, but he just nodded and kissed Lele’s forehead. Lele is already taller than Gao Tu, so he needed to stand on top of his toes to do it.
“Alright. I wish you the best. Don’t get into trouble, you hear me?”
Lele just smiled, while crossing his fingers behind his back. Nope, sorry Pa. Lele will go and find trouble because he has other objectives. Sorry not sorry.
