Work Text:
Bdubs had thought he was safe.
Because why would he think otherwise?
Etho was perfect in every way.
He was beautiful, nice, polite, pleasant to be around, and almost everything Bdubs had wanted in a partner.
So after having been dating the man for over a year now, why would Bdubs not trust him?
Etho invited Bdubs out to his cabin in the mountains for a weekend trip and Bdubs said yes, because it sounded fun, and like it would be a nice get together for the two partners.
Bdubs did not know he would never go home again after this, he did not know his lover would turn on him within the next 24 hours as they drove on winding roads, through the woods, up the mountains of Canada.
When they got to the cabin, Bdubs put their luggage away as Etho got some wood for a fire later that night, so they could toast marshmallows later, or at least that was the plan.
Bdubs was in the master bedroom, pulling his shirts out of his suit case that was laying on the bed, getting them out to put into the dresser for the weekend.
He didn’t even hear Etho walking up behind him, his footsteps light like a sly fox.
Bdubs turned around to put his shirts away, just as Etho was behind him, a few feet back.
“Etho.” Bdubs said cheerily, smiling at his boyfriend, not noticing the kitchen knife in his hands, until he did.
His tone changed to questioning as his eyes landed on the knife, “Why do you have a knife?"
Etho stared at him with his mismatched eye, his lower face covered by the mask he almost always wears, even around Bdubs, only taking it off to sleep, eat, and drink, “It’s for you.” Etho said coldly, slowly, like he was planning his next movement and words carefully, calm, calculated, not the fun loving, warmth his voice usually is.
Bdubs’ heart rate picked up, as fear pooled in his gut. Why is he seriously scared of his partner right now? Etho’s got to be screwing with him!
“Stop messing around Etho.” Bdubs chuckles awkwardly, setting the shirts down on the bed, not letting his eyes off Etho, “Your-your scaring me.”
Etho pulls down his mask, holding the knife loosely at his side, as he slowly walks closer to Bdubs.
Bdubs takes a step back from his lover, Etho takes two forwards.
Bdub’s legs hit the foot of the bed as Etho was right up in front of him, the corners of his lips turned up.
The shorter man swallowed, looking up at his partner’s face, down at the knife, then back up, “Etho, put the knife down, please.” he said, fear in his voice, “If this is like a kink or something, we can do something safer, just put the knife down, your really scaring me man.”
Etho cupped his cheek and Bdubs’ breath hitched, heart pounding so loud in his ears he barely heard Etho speak, “I’m going to kill you Bdubs.” he said slowly, like it’s something he’s been wanting to say to him for a lone time, "I've fantasied about doing it since I met you.” he said, full ing psychotic grinning now, “I want to feel as I bury this knife into you so damn bad.” he said, nails digging into the back of Bdubs’ jaw at the word ‘damn’.
He tilted Bdubs’ chin up.
“I want to see the light fade slowly from your big, beautiful, brown eyes.” Etho said, drawing out the word beautiful a little.
Bdubs starts to involuntarily shake now, dread coming over him.
“Etho.” Bdubs said, fearfully, tears starting to fall down his face, “Please don’t do this.”
“I’v done it so many times before Bdubs.” Etho said, “I’m going to do it again, I need to do it.” he said.
Bdubs felt a sharp pain in his gut.
Etho took a step back, smiling wide, looking at Bdubs, “Look at you, you're bleeding!”
Bdubs looked down at his stomach, seeing the knife now sticking out of him.
They were too far from anywhere for Bdubs to even think about getting help.
Bdubs moved, trying to get away from Etho, but every shift in his body moved the knife, causing it to hurt more.
The shorter man cried even more, he knew this was going to be it.
A small trail of blood started to form as he stumbled away from Etho, towards the corner of the room, walking backwards.
He stumbled, falling back, causing pain to rock though his body.
He looked up at Etho and the man was just watching him, head cocked to the side like he was just watching something interesting.
Bdubs sat up, looking at the knife sticking out of him, starting to bleed rapidly now.
He knew he was going to die soon, he was losing blood too quickly.
Etho just stood there, watching him die, a smile on his face, and Bdubs wondered where he went wrong, what forces brought the two of them together, and ultimately became his demise.
As he got colder, weaker, Bdubs laid down, his eyes feeling heavy.
The world felt dark, and the last thing Bdubs saw was Etho, standing there, smiling, and Bdubs' last thought was him.
