"You're really into this guy, huh?" Cleo says as Bdubs settles into his seat at the table. Etho's getting the hang of knitting enough that Bdubs finally feels safe to knit too, while he sits beside him ready to help if needed. He only brings idiot-proof stuff to work, anyway, since he's always getting interrupted.
"Excuse me?" Bdubs asks. He aims for teasing, but it comes out a little too raw for that. She must be joking, but god, shouldn't Cleo know better as his best friend?
"Not like that—" they say quickly. "I know you're aromantic and stuff, I mean. Just, like, that you like him a lot, right? You've got a friend-crush.".

Bdubs glides down, snapping his elytra closed and landing in the grass.
He looks over where Joel was and sees him.
He’s laying in the grass, unmoving, chest down, head to the side.

The glare hybrid manages to click on the call button, calling Cleo before it falls out of his hands and onto the bed.
Bdubs pulls his knees up to his chest, scared sobs racking his chest.
He hears a quiet, “Bdubs, ‘t’s two in the monin’.” come from Cleo, her voice a littler deeper than normal with sleep.
“M-mommy.” Bdubs hiccups, “I’s scawrd."
“Oh baby.” Cleo coos, “I’ll be right over.”

Then he started to sit on the opposite side of class, barely meeting Bdubs’ eye. When he asked, Etho said he made a new friend and thought Bdubs wouldn’t mind. Bdubs tried a little harder to ignore his friends’ comments about Etho pulling away.
